After having ds1 I started running with C25k which was popular at the time.I loved it and ran until I was heavily pregnant with my second and couldn’t take it in the Florida summer.
After ds2 I needed a little more accountability and my mom gifted me a boot camp subscription. I truly loved that because I made new friends and learned new things. I was never In to heavy lifting though and never felt like the gym helped me get my form really tight. I did that for years until I got pregnant with ds3 .
Unfortunately the gym owner turned out to be a Trump loving crazy so I never returned.
I need to start moving again. Three years later. I don’t have a lot of money to invest in weights and machines so I am thinking about returning to running because I already do have good footwear. Is C25k still a popular way to ease into it or are there new beginners programs? When I started doing it I couldn’t run a kick and I downloaded an mp3 with popular music that also gave you cues when to walk and run. Is that still something I can find? Where do I look?

I just finished C25K. I’ve done it a few times before to ease back into running since I am prone to overuse injuries. I love the app, it’s simple to follow and I like having the cues on when to run/walk. I’m starting the 10k one this week.
I think couch to 5k is still the way to go. I know there is a Hal Higdon program that I have heard good things about but have never done personally. There is an app for the couch to 5k program. It can play music from your phone but also gives You the cues when to walk l/run
I don't know if it interests you, but I did a couple of classes through the Peloton app this morning. No equipment needed. One was a bodyweight cardio workout and one was a bodyweight strength workout. They seem to have a decent number of options that don't require equipment. Just throwing that out there in case you want to change it up from running. The first two months are free right now, so it's pretty low risk, assuming you're ok with the monthly fee after the trial if you want to continue it.
For running, I don't have anything with cues, but the mapmyrun app tells me when I hit each mile with basic stats, so that's nice. And I like that it records my route.
C25k is still good. And I have the 5 to 10 k app from the same people got when I finish the program this time. If it’s worked before, and you enjoy it, I’d say go for it. I have a few playlists for running that make it even more enjoyable. I have “Ring of fire” strategically placed in it, and it is usually well timed and cracks me up every time.
I think so! I was a big runner and then lost all motivation. I started again today using the app. I use the app for cues(you can listen to your own music through the app) and my watch for mileage/pace.
C25K is a great way to get started again! Once I finished it, I was able to move to other running plans to work my way up to a half marathon.
I discovered Jeff Galloway's run/walk/run method after my first half marathon and never looked back. It's cut down on the fatigue and soreness but I've been able to improve my times.

The Peloton outdoor runs on the app are great too. I also love their run/walks which would be great to get you back in to running.

I have the app and see how it gives you the cues. I’m really tech stupid. Do I just play music while the app is running. Any suggestion do where to get playlists? I’m not great at putting that together in my own!

During my most recent running adventure I did c25k paired with peloton running via their app. It worked well for me until it got too hot and I stopped again.
I haven’t used the c25k app but I have used their guidelines whenever I get back into running. One thing I have found is absolutely necessary for me, but ymmv, is doing a lot of posterior chain, medial glute exercises before starting running again. If I don’t, my knees kill me. You can find free videos through fitnessblender.
Yep, I totally still do C25K on occasion to get back into running. Or sometimes when I'm getting back into it I just run as far as I can handle (usually about a mile) and then walk/run from there until whenever I feel like being done. I've tried the Peloton outdoor runs and like them as well.

I've done the C25K app every time I start running again after a break. It is by far my favorite program. I have a treadmill with an iFit subscription, and I've done 'run your first 5k programs' on that, but I like C25K much more.

Yup! They’ll cue you over your music. I just look for workout or running mixes on Spotify. Or, look for playlists of music you like!
The guy I run with in iFit hates couch to 5k, lol. I can’t remember why though. I’ve never been successful with it because I’m not ever starting from couch and I get bored with the early workouts. I generally just make my own interval program when I haven’t run in a while. But walk-run intervals and not building too fast is definitely the right plan.

Oy. I’m in Apple Music and all the running-workout lists are electronic music and very few with mostly popular songs. Maybe I am too old for this lol! Thank for the help!

What’s everyone’s favourite c25k app to use? I used to use the cool running website and see that there are a lot of options now in the App Store. Is there one that’s best?

I didn’t realize there were outdoor runs! I thought they were just for the treadmill. Definitely going to check that out.

I created my own playlists on Spotify. I recommend that if you have a subscription music service where you can set up your own playlists. Just pick music you enjoy listening to that has a good beat.
I started with the run+walk workouts on the Peloton app in March and worked from there up to regular runs. I do them on a treadmill, but you can certainly do them outside, and there are outdoor-specific runs too. I tried C25K before, but I like the Peloton format better- I need someone talking me through it, lol.

Im using 5k runner. It adjusts based on your feedback after every run. Also I didn’t have to start at the very beginning— it put me further along in the program based on my level of activity. They also have a 5k to 10k and a pacing app.
