We've been having Fridays as a workday at school, but they changed our schedule to we have to teach tomorrow. I want to cry. I can't believe how much help Fridays have been in terms of keeping up with grading and planning.

The work summary guy probably thinks that he looks more professional and is working harder than anyone else. Meanwhile, all he's succeeded in doing is looking like a tool.

It's actually hilarious because he's always the first one to try and get out of working!
It would be understandable if this was the first one of the year but we were off last week too. At the time our department manager sent out a notification that we would still follow university closures even though we're primarily working from home.

If it's a new behavior, I'm going to go with he got a new Performance Improvement Plan.
Have I mentioned that we got a replacement satellite dish when we upgraded our DirecTV? Ten or so years ago. The installer never plugged the holes from the screws for the braces from the old dish.
In other words, we've had water leaking into our roof through these eight little holes that went through our shingles and substrate, right into our attic. For ten years. In the Pacific Northwest.
We've had the holes plugged by a roofer, and are having a drywall guy replace ruined drywall in the bedroom below the leak (which is how we discovered this little problem, after the drywall tape started peeling from the wall.) Need an insulation guy. And likely someone to mitigate mold.
And to top that, the toilets in our master upstairs and the powder room downstairs have been having a backflow issue. Had plumbers out twice to check and to snake. Turns out our toilets were poorly designed and the backflow was because of a design issue. So, we had to replace the toilets. I have *no* idea why it's only those two and not the guest/hall bath as well. But they put in a new toilet and issue solved. But that was a lovely little unexpected expense. And WTF to it not showing up for fifteen years? You'd think it would be something that would be an issue a lot sooner than that. So, if you have a fifteen year old Mansfield toilet, be warned.
And now I have to find a landscaper to do our yard and a contractor to do our family room and office. Le sigh. It feels like it will be a never-ending story until we end up selling the place to retire in another decade or so. (insert millennial cry emoji, with side part.)
We’re finally getting our dining room floor re-done! I’m so ready to say goodbye to the uneven floor and the disgusting cheap carpet.
It’s loud. I have the three cats shut in my office with me upstairs. The two females are always up here with me anyway, but big tabby guy never comes upstairs and he’s clearly pissed to be locked up here. He cried during my last conference call for me to let him out.
It’s a Sin on HBO Max is a great watch. I watched all five episodes in one night (don’t judge) and cried my way through them.
I’ve read and loved a fair bit of stuff set in that period and community (Hearts Invisible Furies, The Great Believers, Angels in America, The Band Played On) and this one was a little more trope-y, but the acting is decent, and the relationships are interesting. Definitely worth a watch.

Really sad day over here. Our 13 year old pug has been having balance and other issues for weeks off and on. The vet told us this morning that she likely has a brain lesion or mass of some kind. This afternoon she lost the ability to stand/walk and we knew it was time. We are taking her in tomorrow morning 😭 we’ve known it was coming but doesn’t make it any easier. We will be pug-less for the first time since 2008. I’m so sad.
Think of us tomorrow. We’ve never done this before and I’m a mess.

Oh, I’m so sorry Pugz from one pug mom to another. Hugs.

I am struggling big time with my being nice to patients in my clinical rotation. I'm having a hard time being nice to my coworkers.
Yesterday I was told: 1st patient: "Thanks to BIDEN my mom's insulin cost went up so high she can almost not afford it" 2nd patient: "Well we we're going to go to Florida next week, but sounds like BIDEN is going to close the borders so THANKS"
My coworkers have stopped giving a shit. They're traveling like they did before covid. They're back to partying together like they did before covid.
