I highly recommend catching this program if you can. I'm sure they will rerun it.
Birx, Fauci, Redfield, Giroir, Hahn (former director of the FDA).
They are ALL crucifying the former administration. It is breathtakingly stupid the lengths the former president and his sycophants went to to deny the pandemic: warring sects inside the White House stopping Birx from doing her job, not getting China to share information, no one asking WHO to use their tests, US testing manufacturers being told they had to go through the FDA to get an EUA for a damn test, and and and and. Atlas was the primary supporter of no testing of asymptomatic people. Azar was the primary driver of "let it go wild to build herd immunity". OMG. This whole show, with ALL of these key people, while I pretty much assumed much of what they are saying, is BANANAS to hear A YEAR INTO THIS DAMN PANDEMIC all out loud, in open court, so to speak.
ETA: Fauci talks about why he said what he said in March about everyday people not wearing masks. This part is really interesting. Birx talks about how almost no one in the WH was wearing masks on the regular. I can't imagine what it was like for her--how did she even feel comfortable walking in there on a daily basis? Why wouldn't she just quit, in disgust, protest or both?
Definitely worth a watch, just to hear it out of the mouths of T's own people. It's 2 hours.

Azar refused to be interviewed for this special, but issued statements to CNN, basically calling Hahn AND Redfield liars. That guy, what a piece of shit.

Dr. Gupta asked Birx a question about backlash from the administration. She was basically threatened by the President for telling the American people how bad it was. She's too kind (or afraid) to come right out and say those actual words, but that's what she's implying. Good lord. She even comments that she held back--that it was much worse than she even said to Dana Bash (that's the interview the question was referencing).
I can't believe I'm still asking the question--how the hell is this real life?
I stopped listening to anything that Dr. Birx had to say after she told everybody not to visit family over the holidays, and then she travelled to visit her family for the holidays.
Dr. Birx did many problematic things during that time. Perhaps she did them to toe the line and stay in charge so she could still do good things. Maybe she was one of the good ones saving us from total chaos. But it will take awhile to get over her gaslighting.
I need to watch the show so I can have an opportunity to view her in a more sympathetic light.

I need to watch this but the most publicized statements just make me sad. To read that 400,000+ people could be alive right now if we had just did the responsible things last spring is just heartbreaking and rage-inducing.
