I will be 48 in a few months and about two years ago I ditched my light blonde highlights/lowlights and decided to stay closer to my natural color, which is dark blonde/almost brown. I can't believe how much it changed my look and made me look younger. I'm fair skin and it was really washing me out.
I think the natural color or close to it often makes people Look so much younger.
I’ve decided to let my grey grow out, so I guess that’s a change in progress. It’ll make me look older, but I no longer care. I am my age. My age is not scary or something to be hidden, although I am fighting a lifetime of indoctrination to embrace my aging self.
Yes, more than once since I've aged. I mean I'm sure we all remember older folks from our youth that never changed their looks and looked dowdier than what was really necessary. lol

So I have this distinct memory of my mom changing out of her work clothes every day into a sweatshirt and turtleneck. Since she only wore it a few hours each day before going to bed she wore the same turtleneck and sweatshirt for several days in a row. When she wasn’t wearing it it sat as one piece - so the turtleneck IN the sweatshirt, including arms, neck folded. I can still see the flowered turtleneck and dorky embroidered sweatshirt and feel the weight of it when you picked it up.
I am now my mom (minus the turtleneck, sub a long sleeved tee).
Not too much. My hair is various lengths but always shoulder length-ish and sometimes lighter/highlighted sometimes darker. In the summer I do beach’s waves and in winter I blow dry/straighten. I’ve never worn a lot of make up - I just do mascara and eyebrow gel each day really. I looove clothes and go shopping way too much, so I change the “look” of what I wear a lot.
And botox made me feel waaay better about how I look in pictures! (I’m 43). I just made my post vaccination appointment (I haven’t gone in a year) and I’m SO EXCITED lol

Yes. My hair is naturally a light blonde and I've started darkening it a little. I've dropped eye liner because I feel like it ages me. I've simplified my wardrobe and made it more basic and classic.
I have started wearing more makeup as I've gotten older. I never wore lipstick regularly, but my lips have lost some color as I've aged so I really need to. My skin has gotten much more prone to redness so I need more foundation and concealer.
I never colored my hair when I was younger but now that I'm going grey, I dye it. It's pretty close to my natural color. I always wore it long, but I cut it into a long bob about 2 years ago. I loved it, but I had to break up with my hair stylist and my new one can't cut it right so I'm growing it out again.
I'm 41, but I look like I'm in my 30s per everyone who is surprised to find out my age. I'm the size of a 14 year old so that may influence their assumptions on my age.
My skin was fairly greasy for a long time which I think helped it not look as aged. I also don't wear make up other than mascara.
I have been getting botox every 4-6 months since I turned 40. I notice a difference with that a bit. I also use a retinol a few times a week.
Mostly, I look well rested and youthful when I.........get more rest and am well hydrated. LOL.
I have curly hair naturally, but I change it up fairly often. Right now its pretty short. Not a pixie ( which I love on myself, but wasn't sure I want to do the grow out stages during a pandemic), but shorter than my nose length.
I have the same style- boho-ish when I get dressed. Athletic gear when lounging- that I have since the age of about 19. I don't think that will ever change.
I started wearing less makeup after COVID started. I was filming a lot of videos for my students and I thought my makeup was aging me. I used to wear multiple eye shadows and eye liner. Now I just wear mascara along with my usual face makeup and I don’t think I’ll go back to my old routine. I also started getting Botox in my forehead and between my brows, started using a lash serum, and invested in better skincare.
I’ve styled my hair the same way for basically a decade, but I wear it longer or shorter depending on my mood. I keep it around chin length now and wear it in loose curls.
I've definitely changed my look with age. As others have noted, I wear far less makeup now than 20 years ago. Makeup was my thing when I was young. I was even a freelance makeup artist for awhile in my 20s but these days I stick with the basics. I no longer wear heavy eyeliner, heavy foundation, bronzer, highlighter etc. Just some concealer, powder and mascara most days. Add in lip gloss pre-mask days.
I'm always changing my hair length, color and preferred style. I also stay pretty on trend on the clothing department though I'm starting to focus more on quality basics instead of fast fashion.
I also keep adding more tattoos.
I certainly care less about what others think of my appearance than 20 years ago but keeping myself up is good for my self esteem. If I look frumpy I feel frumpy.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Ugh Covid has made me feel so frumpy. I need to snap out of it.
I don’t know that my style changed from age. Well I’m not going to bars and clubs like when I was younger and so I don’t wear the risqué outfits I used to! I have highlighted my hair on and off for years and am in a blonde phase now and have been for maybe two years. I am considering going back to my natural color which is medium brown. I worry that will make me feel frumpier but maybe I’m wrong! My always thick hair is thinning though and I think stopping the bleaching can’t hurt.
I am 38 and haven’t had Botox yet, I started using retinol but forgot about it. It’s not that I don’t have lines, I do I’m just lazy I think.
I still feel attractive generally just kinda like the attractive me is inside and I jusy need to go shopping or something and get some new clothes, get more regular on my exercise and eat less sugar. I gained 10 pounds during Covid and it seems 10lbs don’t fall off as easily at 38 as they do at 28, lol.
I also find makeup settles into my lines more now especially eye makeup. I find a light foundation, mascara and lipgloss is all I wear these days and I only wear makeup when I go to the office.

Oh absolutely, but not in a good way 😳
I’ve gained a ton of weight and have very little confidence or self esteem at this point. I feel like my “style” reflects that. I’ve gone from having long, blonde hair that was meticulously maintained to short brown hair that greys love to peak out of. I’ve gotten better at highlighting now and have an appointment for balayage soon.
In terms of clothing, i was all about unique tops and accessories, but now I don’t want to stand out. I live about 40 minutes from the town I went to high school in but rarely go. Honestly if I ran into a high school classmate and they saw me like this I’d be mortified.
I’ve pretty much been the same way for 15 years style and look wise. I’m 38 and the biggest game changer for me has been Botox. I always thought it was so serious and kinda of scary but now I couldn’t imagine going without and I only spend about $220 every 4-6 months which I rationalize is less than regular manis/pedis. I keep talking about it to everyone I know as if it’s the best kept secret but apparently it’s pretty popular I just had no idea. Ha

Just curious... do you only do a small area? I just got my first Botox treatment a few weeks ago and was a bit alarmed at the price.... I think I spent 570 😳. Was hoping it was going to be more in the 300-400 range.

I get 20 and it was $11 per unit. I only get it in my forehead, the places by me range from $11-$15 per unit
For those that want/get Dysport. Be up front about your budget when you call for an appointment. Also ask if they are running any specials, have a coupon, etc. Price will depend on how much the doctor or nurse injector thinks you need, too. I've been doing Dysport for most of the last 6 years (when I can afford it) and love it. I think it helps me look so much better. I don't wear any make up on a daily basis and very little when I do. I've tried injectables but haven't seen the results I wanted, so I no longer do them. I'm probably looking at a facelift & necklift in my early 50s.
I had shorter hair as a kid, grew it out in high school, college, and after college as long as half way down my back (It was wavy and gorgeous!). I cut it off after moving out of my parent's house and haven't let it longer than brushing the top of my shoulders since. I think I look better with a bob style cut. I have an amazing stylist who keeps is fresh but not trendy. I have just a couple of greys that aren't noticeable. I love my natural color and will hold off coloring my hair as long as I can.
My personal style tends to be sporty/athletic. I go for comfort over pure style, but I like to be current with clothes. At the same time I don't like keeping up with the trend of the second. I work from home, so daily wear is "day PJs" (aka different PJs than I sleep in). When I worked in an office I had a uniform of black or grey pointe pants, a short sleeve or long sleeve cardigan (dark colors only), loafers, and simple jewelry. It made getting easy ready.
I’ve mentioned this before but I’ve switched to a “uniform” of all dresses. It makes getting dressed easier. I don’t have to worry about coordinating separates or finding pants that fit and are flattering. I always look appropriate to the venue or event (if sometimes a little dressy but I have plenty of plainer, every day dresses) and dresses are more flattering to my body type than separates. I always had a hard time finding pants and shirts that fit no matter how old I was or what size I wore. I made a lot of my own dressier clothes as a child/teen but casual wear was always a struggle.
In the winter I just add tights (or leggings) and wear boots. I’m not hiking the tundra and it’s fine.
I also get a ton of compliments since I switched to all dresses. People come up to me in public all the time!
I did this as well last summer and got so many compliments. Dresses were so much more comfortable. I didn't try adding tights for the winter and went back to jeans but maybe I should consider that next year.

I’m actually wearing make-up more regularly than I did 5-10 years ago but that’s because I found something that works well for me and it’s super natural and streamlined. I’ve also embraced lipstick—I’ll even wear it while I’m working at home (in yoga pants and whatever top looks professional-ish on camera) because it feels special.
My wardrobe is less trendy and more thoughtful. It’s much less stressful to get dressed now.
I stopped coloring my hair six years ago and realized I actually love my natural color.
I feel like I’m in a pretty good place with more confidence than I’ve had, well, ever.

I was worried tights would be uncomfortable but they have come a long way since I was a kid! And it’s a fun way to add color/texture/a pattern if you are into that sort of thing. Tall boots on really cold days helps too.
Not really. My whole entire life I’ve gone through phases of growing my hair long then chopping it off into a bob, sometimes with middle part or side part. I’ve found I look best with long Bob to shoulder to length straight hair and a side part. I’m not digging this GenZ middle part trend, so my solution is wear it back in a wide barrette (like a thin, professional half ponytail). I haven’t had a haircut in a year+ due to Covid so it’s too long (and thick which takes forever to dry and looks terrible when it’s not straightened). I’ve never had it professionally colored and haven’t colored it myself in like 10 years, so I’m debating about doing that.
I don’t wear a ton of makeup. When I do, I change eyeshadow colors within the same range and basically do my eyes how I was taught at a MaryCay party as a teenager. I feel like all the makeup tutorial videos wear so much more makeup than I ever would that they aren’t useful.
For fashion, I always feel like I’m years behind trends but I try to have a pretty classic casual style and have definitely learned what looks good on my body, so there’s certain styles I will not even consider. I’m currently at my heaviest weight so that’s more of a struggle lately.
Yep, I stopped wearing any powder makeup because it just sticks in wrinkles and shows them off. I switched to cream or gel everything for eyes, lips and face. I live in Korea so I have all.the.products for 10 step skin and 10 step hair/scalp care. Walking down the street past all the skin care shops is like Halloween—they give samples away by the bagful. That helps a lot. I stopped dying my hair but switched to henna and squid ink (very Korean) so it is fuller than it was when I was in my 20’s and looks shinier. The one thing I just can’t figure out how to disguise is the dark circles under my eyes. I don’t want to do fillers but I am contemplating having fat injected.
