Does anyone know the recommendations on testing once a person is fully vaccinated are? Example for purposes of the discussion - two weeks out from second dose, no known exposure, only does relatively safe activities outdoors, but has a sore throat? Or congestion? Prevaccine I’d say test for anything that was in the list of 20 potential Covid symptoms. But after the vaccine, I’m not sure.
Just trying to figure out what’s the best practice once vaccinated since I’m heading into my regular allergy season.
"You should still watch out for symptoms of COVID-19, especially if you’ve been around someone who is sick. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should get tested and stay home and away from others."
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
At this point I’m actually two months out from second dose so way pdf the two weeks once I anticipate the allergies will start to kick in and I’ll get anxious and wonder if o should test

I just got an email from my PT that the person in before me tested positive the day after even though s/he was fully vaccinated (4 weeks past the 2nd dose.) They had a slight fever that I'm not sure would be considered a fever by most doctors (99.4) and only found out because of routine testing at work. They tested positive on a PCR test.

Guidelines state that you should test at any time, no matter what your vaccination status is if you have symptoms. Fully vaccinated people do not have to quarantine after a known exposure as long as they don't have symptoms.

I’m fully vaccinated (over a month out from my second shot). I was exposed at work last week, and another member of my household who is not vaccinated yet was exposed twice (Friday and Tuesday) before they were told to quarantine. I started with what I assume are allergy symptoms, but I still went ahead and got tested today with the other person in my house. We did the rapid test and are both negative.
No I wouldn't test over a sore throat or other allergy symptoms post vaccine. I would only test if I had a fever. If testing is free and easy for you, maybe do it for peace of mind, but I personally dont think it is necessary. I know its not the guidelines from the CDC but at my comfort lever (which is different for everyone) I wouldnt feel inclined to do it.
My friend and her husband thought it was just their allergies but tested just in case. Yeap, both are positive and both are fully vaccinated. I would say, if you feel crappy in any sort of way to go test.

I guess it depends. I know you said “no known exposure” but is there somewhere you could have caught Covid? Like, for me, I WFH and we basically do nothing most weekends (I mean, we do outdoorsy stuff but nothing where we come into contact with others for more than 30 seconds. Plus, everyone still wears masks here, even outdoors.) And then being vaccinated on top of that ... the odds that I’d get Covid are pretty slim.
HOWEVER, that would be different if, say, I was spending a lot of time with people, or going to work/the gym/indoor restaurants, or traveling, etc. etc. etc. In those scenarios, I’d probably test to be on the safe side (and because it’s easy and my insurance covers it, and yada yada yada.)
I’d also test if I had high risk people in my life or if @@@school required it, which would actually be the main consideration for us.@@@
IIRC @@@ you have kids that attend school in person and you posted about a recent outbreak, so I'd test if I had any symptoms.
That’s me. Thankfully the school is working with public health and the outbreak was contained within the basketball program at this point. We know not all families have quarantined per the instructions, so who knows what this week brings. But yes, if I had symptoms now, I would test because of the school cases.
I do not currently have any symptoms. But the winds are starting and the pollen count is going up. I’m debating if I should just plan on weekly tests for the next few months so I don’t start thinking every allergy attack is Covid.

I was planning on buying a few of the at home rapid tests just in case since work is offering to pay a portion of it. My allergies have been awful this season but I haven't really been out anywhere that I'd be in contact with anyone and I WFH. I'd feel more comfortable seeing my parents or meeting up with different groups of people knowing that I'm not asymptomatic.
