DS needs glasses. We ordered two pairs from Zenni. Are sports-specific glasses/goggles worth it? He plays baseball, if that matters. If so, recommendations?
DS wore sport glasses for soccer. The risk of getting hit in his head and potentially being cut by his regular glasses was pretty high. We watched it happen to another kid during a game. That, and the sport glasses conformed to his head so they wouldn't fall off while he was running or diving in goal.
I feel like the risk in basebal is significantly less so you could get away without them unless the league requires it.

He plays soccer in the fall. I think I will get them. Thanks!
Might want to look into anti-fog products. We had the worst time with my daughter in soccer and the sport glasses fogging up when she breathed. I’m sure the same thing would happen with regular glasses as well.
Don’t get me started on rain/snow. Honestly we ended up going with contacts after one season with glasses. I know that’s not an option for everyone though.
Just a couple of things to look into / prepare for.

How old was she when she got contacts? We are trying to decide when to just get them for my oldest. I can’t remember when I got them but I was decently young (like under 12).

My DD2 got contacts last fall. She was 11. She’s done fine with them. The eye doc prescribed dailies for her so she doesn’t have to clean and store them, just tosses them. She had no problems at all learning to put them in and take them out. It took her about 30 minutes to figure it out (at home because covid meant not learning at the eye doc like normal). Meanwhile DH got contacts for the first time a few years ago and he had to go back to the eye doc twice because he couldn’t figure it out the first time and he struggled with it way more (hazard of being older trying to learn I suppose). It also helps that DD’s right and left prescription are the same at the moment so she doesn’t have to worry about which she is putting in which eye. I think it will be a hard transition for her when that changes, but it probably would have been fine if it had started that way....

She was 10. My oldest got them around the same time and is just a year older. I got them when I was 8. You’d be surprised what they can handle. My oldest had zero trouble from the jump. The youngest just had some trouble getting them out for a bit. But they were both pros pretty quickly.
Our optometrist also told me a story of a 3/4 year old he fitted with contacts. Something about the kid’s vision meant glasses wouldn’t work. The daycare he attended required he be able to deal with the contacts himself. And he did it!
