I bought a Peloton, watched Tiger King, and bought a fire pit. I'll add watching Schitt's Creek. I know that was around before, but it definitely jumped in popularity.
+ Quit drinking. + Tackled a home reno that wasn't planned prior to lockdown.
I will add
+ Stopped wearing make-up/doing my hair/caring + Started a new hobby
ETA: I would have adopted a new pet but DH said no and he is correct that if he didn't object we would have six dogs. (But we currently only have two, one of whom is 13, so I also think I'm right that it was a good idea.)
Hmm of the list I only watched Tiger King. I baked bread but I do that anyway. Like PP I did get Animal Crossing for me. I also gained 14lbs last year but lost 11 this year lol. I guess that counts for something.
The sourdough was a new skill, but one that I had been meaning to do before the pandemic. I have made a lot of sourdough crackers too, (they've become a staple around here, along with a sourdough galette crust), and I had never made crackers before.
The banana bread wasn't anything new, but I did find a new favorite recipe, so I made it more often.
ETA: We saw. gained weight, but it is hard to blame it on the pandemic. Our day to day lives changed very little, since DH wfh and I sah.
4. Made bread - and a sourdough starter. That was legitimately the first thing I thought to do last March - until I got to the store and saw that all the flour was gone.
9. Hiked new places. A Lot.
I also started painting, ate a LOT of pie (like weekly...trying to work that off now), and attempted to tie dye some white masks - which are still in their tied state, but have not been dyed. Seems pointless now. Oh and I ate outside in Chicago in my winter coat a lot over winter. Definitely not a thing pre-pandemic.
I did quit drinking but I didn't really drink much to begin with. I feel like drinking is to celebrate with others and I only did it once and I got sick from it. But we did do a partial reno on our laundry room and also got a new fence.
- I have learned to do my eye liner so much better. - I also learned to maintain my own brows and no longer need to get waxed monthly.
On that list the only thing I did was buy a fire pit. Already had a peloton, tried Tiger King but turned off after 10 minutes. Definitely drank more than usual 😬
Add to that list:gained a full 20 pounds. Then lost it. Bought pogo sticks.
7. Tackled a home reno that wasn't planned prior to lockdown (first the basement work out room and then... prepping the house for sale, selling it, and buying another one.)
At first I increased alcohol consumption, then it went way down as time wore on for various reasons - so there was probably not a net increase.
I did bake bread for the first time ever outside of a bread machine. I bought a Kitchenaid mixer so I did a lot more baking than usual.
We did watch Tiger King and I did more hiking. We also bought our first house so we did house projects, probably mostly stuff we would have done eventually anyway but being home all the time definitely made us more motivated!
I guess my most lasting new thing is that I started doing my nails regularly! I use nail polish strips and will probably continue doing that forever since they work so well and I've gotten used to having nice looking nails.
