My husband will only wear hospital issued n95s which he rewears and then complains about. Probably because rewearing is gross. With mandates coming back around here, I want to get him some normal masks he’ll wear without complaining.
(He still needs the n95s for work, but needs regular life indoor stuff. We’ve talked about it before but he finally sounds ready to try something else for casual use. I want to get new ones rather than pull out the same ones he already rejected months ago and my favorite brand is more feminine and a little small for him)
My husband and mother both prefer a 3-D mask. He's got a huge head and she has COPD/asthma and inhales too hard.
I made them both a few of the "SeeKateSew" 3-D masks without the filter pocket but a metal bridge piece and adjustable ear loops. You can add a filter pocket, but I used a high quality quilting cotton which was very tightly woven. If you don't sew, you can probably find similar on etsy. Mom wears an inner support frame under hers.
H likes the ones from Old Navy for washable options.
We all wear the adults or kids masks from old navy. My H was wearing some of the balaclava-type masks in the winter (which I don’t love, but he’s outside a lot for work), but definitely not in summer.
My husband only wear UnderArmour masks. He got them last summer for construction work, and he has stuck with them all year. They are pricey, but he found it was worth in. Oh, and it’s been a year and they have really held up to weekly (or more) washing (I bought 5 for rotation).
For a brief moment I forgot Covid existed and thought this was about spa-type masks. I was shocked so many people’s H would not only use masks but have a fave!
Mine likes the Beau Ties of Vermont ones. (Also the only brand my 8 year old son likes besides vista print)
Beau Ties are also our favorites. They’re so comfortable and well made, they come in two sizes, and there are solids and some non-feminine patterns. DH has a couple from Under Armour that he likes too.
My husband has some that work issued him for when he's in the office (he's in healthcare, but administrative, not front line). The fabric feels like athletic gear material, but double thickness. The straps are adjustable, and they have the fitted nose. I just looked; they are made by a company called RainCapere; maybe they have an online presence?
I got some face masks from Oakland Craft Company, a black-owned business, that were recommended by someone on GBCN actually. They are over a year old and still working great for me.
Skin 360. We got them at Sam's club. They have adjustable ear loops and a nose piece. Otherwise, he was ok with the 2 for $4 Target ones before we found the Skin 360 ones

DH loves these. They’re comfortable and adjustable. He wears glasses and has no trouble with fogging because of the adjustable nose piece. The fabric is sturdy without feeling too thick.

Derpy de derp. I was going to recommend the black sesame mask because for a brief moment, probably since I haven't been outside in 2 weeks, I was thinking skincare.
H doesn't really care, and he has a few restrictions due to uniform (essentially on what it can look like, not where it comes from). Zazzle actually has some very comfortable ones. Other options would be uniqlo and I think you have this store near you, miniso (at I think they have offshoots) have comfortable masks
My H doesn't like dealing with ear loops, so he only wears gaters. He likes the ones from Hurley, but he hardly ever goes out so I can't really speak for how comfortable they would be in an all day situation.
If you’ve had your masks for awhile, don’t forget to check that they’re still tightly woven fabric. Hold them up to light and if you can see pinhole sized spots or uneven wear patterns, they need to be replaced so aerosols and droplets don’t sneak through. Just like your sheets, the more you use and wash, the more they soften which is the fibers breaking up.

Also, since I think he's in healthcare, his ears are probably tired. I experienced that long before pandemic. Now that I'm in Muslim country, I've learned there are a ton of options to avoid ear loops. Maybe look into those? They're pretty feminine here as they're supposed to be over hijab, but I'm guessing you have other options where you are.
None of them, lol. He's already dreading flying next month because he knows he'll have to wear it for hours.
I made all of my husband's masks. Because I was brand spanking new to sewing and seam allowances at the time I made them, they all fit slightly different. He has one Texas Ranger mask that fits him best so that's his preferred one.
