I'm getting my hair cut and colored tomorrow. For color I'm staying basically the same - getting a root touchup and toning my ombre highlights. My last few appointments I've just done a trim, but my length is starting to feel a little blah. I'm thinking about taking 2-3 inches off.
I'm looking for some inspiration pictures and suggestions please!

Check out my Pinterest hair board. It's not all crazy color. Lol! I can pm you the link if you want it. I'm currently loving Grace Potter's hair. She's got something going without bangs at the moment. I get my hair done tomorrow too! I'm psyched since a certain GNR legend is in town and friends with my salon owners.
Thanks girls - FCG I will check out your board. Mav - I have gotten that comparison before! I've done the blunt bangs and while I loved them I think I like the versatility of the side bangs. HZ - I actually used that Jessica Biel photo for my color inspiration! I do like Nicole's side bangs, that's a good picture. Mine aren't quite as pronounced now, but I like that look a lot. Virginia - thanks for the suggestion - I think that might be around 3-4 inches off, but that might be good.

I would take about 3 inches off at most. I really like your length and think it looks healthy IRL. I think it's to your advantage to keep a lot of length for side ponytails and fishtail braids. Mine is just a little to short for those styles and it makes me crazy that I'm limited to traditional ponytails and braids. I think your networking and career stuff is similar to mine and keeping as many options open as possible is the best for styling. This is shorter than what I was thinking, but this gives you an idea for bangs and layering. It's Grace's current hair.
I'm having a brainfart; FCG- who is last pic of? is that Kristin C??
Yep, that's her! You should know that since she's living with a certain Bear at the moment.
Ha I know, right? I totally thought I saw #6 out while picking up pizza (at a known celeb hot spot last night); until I saw the girl he was with, which was definitely not KCav

Lol! K Cav is extremely loyal to him defending him on Twitter constantly. The baby is so adorable. I started liking her after she went to the Marine Ball last year and #6 sent him a ton of signed stuff thanking him for his service. It was really sweet and she Tweeted pics of the guy all night so it wasn't a stop in for 20 minutes appearance.
Sorry fashion, I hope my comment didn't come off rude. Like omg if I were you, I'd cut that shit Your hair is really pretty. Just giving you recs since you were just looking for something different
Virginia - Oh, no, it wasn't taken that way at all! LOL.
I'm pretty open to a change, I've had shorter hair in the past and grew it from above my shoulders to where it is now since 2009. I kept it really long for my wedding last year, but am getting sick of it since I don't really do a lot with it. I think collarbone length would be really flattering, but I might do this in a couple steps, keeping it slightly longer this time, to see how short I want to take it. Don't worry you were not rude at all!
I like Kristen's hair, her side bangs look easy-breezy.
Rachel Bilson is another of my hair, and style icons. I love her.
I love everything about Bilson's style. I like to see her Piperlime picks. I even started watching Hart of Dixie just to see how they style her since her style on the show is so close to IRL. I'd really like to see her contribute to a label or get her own. I think her layers or K Cav's bangs could be great on you. I really like your length. Check into free bang trims. My salon does them very quickly. The most I've ever waited is 5 minutes and they never take longer than 10.
I'm really struggling with length right now. I may have an event next week and am wishing for a few extra inches because I don't want my hair to look too short. I don't want the craziness of extensions just yet.
My stylist is one of my best friends, we met while working at a salon (I was front desk/management a few years ago), and I've been going to her a few years now. She's a new mom and working from home so she does my hair at her house, so I'm sure bang trims won't be a big deal.
I love the length when I go out or have events too, but for every day I feel like I put it up most days and I get bored with it. I'm thinking about buying some good quality clip-in extensions so I can have the best of both worlds, I feel like a good set can be a good investment, especially with a creative lifestyle/career. I wonder if I could write that off as an expense? lol

I've thought about the extension route too. I wish I could write them off. The extensions scare me ever since I saw Chaz Dean do a guest appearance on a show and take out someone's extensions during the meeting since he didn't like them. That scares me since there's a lot of hair people in my circles and networking happens while drinking. I can just see some drunk walking off with my hair after they run their fingers through it. I've had someone ask to walk around the bar with my bag since I had a Cuffz that night.
Have you learned how to fishtail yet? I have a freind with a similar length you yours that can do her own in under 10 minutes. I need about 2 more inches to do my own. I do the just rolled out of bed look a lot with B&B Brillantine as well as the shove it under a fedora. I'm up to 9 fedoras.
Who would take out someone's hair while they are wearing it?? Crazy!
I tried to fishtail once and it didn't look great, I ended up taking it out. I love the look though, maybe I need to practice that.
Chaz Dean did it at a nice brunch in NYC to the assistant from the Flipping Out show. That's the one with the really crazy mean guy and the assistant who looks like Elaine from Seinfeld. I never watch the show, but caught the scene while flipping through channels the flipper was pitching a $750k project to Chaz. He just started pulling her extensions out and she was so embarassed since she put them in to have nicer hair for the Wen guy. The flipper guy was getting so pissed when they were interviewing him about it since he didn't want to lose the deal.
Check out Youtube for videos on fishtails. My friend watched a couple and just practiced while she was watching TV to perfect them. She's only into makeup and has had the same perfect hair since grade school.
