I feel, like pps said, that so much of bathing habits depend on location, culture and circumstances.
When I lived in London I definitely did not shower more than once every other day. The water there was really hard and wreaked havoc on my skin and fine hair. The climate did not necessitate daily showers.
When I lived in Brazil I was taking 2 showers a day, and this was not uncommon there. Between the sweat and the sand from the beaches, most people I knew showered at least morning and night - some mid-day!
In South Korea, if you go to the public baths, you are expected to scrub extensively beforehand. But in Canada if you go to the hot springs all they ask is a quick rinse.
And of course all of this still varies widely within these cultures depending on income and access to clean water.
Mila Kunus has really bad skin, but I know that’s more likely genetic than a “not showering” issue.
Anyway, I wouldn’t date someone who didn’t wash their genitals daily, but if you look at what Ashton Kutcher actually said, he does.
Also, our summer camp only had a water line to the lake, as did most others on our shore, until my parents moved there permanently. So we would fill pop bottles and milk jugs at my grandma’s house (nice municipal water vs the well water at our house) for drinking and brushing our teeth. We’d bathe, wash clothes, clean, wash hands, etc in the lake water.
Didn’t it say in the article she washes her face twice a day?
Come on, guys, only THREE more pages to go! You can do it; I know you can!
Anecdote time: I'm glad that I figured out during the pandemic that my hair does better when I wash every other day, even when I run. Not showering at all after a run isn't an option for me--I am a complete sweat monster who gets covered in dog kisses on my legs when I come home.
Kids shower almost every night because my husband thinks it calms them down. I don't necessarily agree, but he handles this part of the night routine.
I don't care what other people do unless I can actually smell them.

When I worked with the Army, I worked in basic training. And obviously people were coming from all different backgrounds, cultures etc.
The drill sgts in every single company I worked with told stories about how they had to teach Soldiers to bathe properly. And they were not kidding. Like there was a class in every company. They took 2 showers a day, monitored them, singled out smelly soldiers, made sure everyone deodorized, brushed their teeth etc.
I worked in GA. it was HOT. there were companies full of anywhere from 65-250 humans and im not kidding you, the smell these humans could produce is something I have never. Never NEVAR smelled before, nor since. It's a literal, palpable smell. These groups of hygienic people fucking reeked.
Idk, maybe working in a place where I saw the effort going into the teaching and deliberate acts of human hygiene and yet the smell of humanity, hard work, teamwork, goals and motivation still burst forth in form of nose burning cheese smell made me more flexible in this arena to accept that Ashton Kutcher isn't an animal if he only splashes water on his privileged nether regions after going to the gym.
My kid just came home from 2 weeks of camp, during which he supposedly showered once (but I'd bet money he rinsed for like 2 minutes, no soap).
He smelled SO BAD. He took a shower and we made him go back and take a second one.
Both kids said they “bathed in the lake” when they went to camp. Just by splashing around, no soap. It’s. Well, I’m glad I’m not with them the whole week. Hahaha

See now this is crazy cakes to me. I showered more at sleepaway camp than anywhere. There was no a/c! I showered twice a day if I had time. It was the only time of day I wasn't sweaty.

At my kids overnight camp they make them shower once a day. I mean I suppose you could get in the shower and turn the water on and stand off to the side but other than that idk how you could not shower while there.
These camp stories… one year a bunch of friends came to DC and we did the mall in late July. Bad enough in the heat, but it also was the weekend before the big Boy Scout jamboree in Richmond. So tons of pre-teen scouts from around the country hanging out at the tourist sites beforehand. Not a mom in sight. Those boys were rank! Just passing by a group outside. *shutter*

I thought that was pretty typical - no?
This is a y camp and their standard appears to be to only make the kids do it once per two week session. They do jump in the lake every day. I cannot imagine the stank on the bus coming home with 50 boys who haven't bathed in a week.

My 8-year-old goes to day camp every day, and it's held at the local pond.
I can't tell you how many arguments I've had with her that, no, swimming in the pond is NOT a replacement for a shower. Just because you're in the water, that doesn't mean you are clean.
My kids bathe every day unless they've stayed at home and not played outside at all. In the winter we sometimes do a water-only wash every other day (no soap) to keep their skin from drying out.
I don't care what other people do and agree that daily bathing is not necessary to stay smell-free.
I giggle every time mofongo posts in this thread because of her siggy quote about halitosis.

When I was a camp counselor I had 13 year old girls. I don't think I had to remind any to bathe, and it was a girls only camp, so they weren't just staying fresh to make out with the boys. There was daily swimming, and it rarely got that hot.
My bathing habits would probably horrify most. But my current roommate regularly says I smell nice, so I figure I'm good to go. In summers we were in the pool and ocean so often we would regularly only rinse the salt or chlorine water off with a hose. We were pretty limited on water, so we conserved however we could. In my current life of pandemic I rarely go outside, and I have dry shampoo. The body does adjust quite a bit, and I've never been much of a sweat monster even in the heat and humidity of my youts (and currently). I remember a friend doing an outward bound program, and they told her to stop using deodorant for a month before. And, it seemingly worked pretty well according to self report, and she'd be the first to say other people stank. I also recognize everyone's body chemistry is different. What works for me may not work for others. So, if they say they're fine with this schedule, then good for them. Of all the things to judge!

I normally shower at night after I workout as it helps me relax before bed. Now that I'm in perimenopause I shower first thing in the AM too. I look forward to returning to my 1x day shower though.
One time, it was extra hot and humid. I was looking for some baby powder (I don’t want the lecture to not use it lol) but all I found was golds bond powder. “I’ll just use that” I thought. And then for the next hour+ I was singing “this girl is on fire” 😂 🔥

I use baby powder (non-talc) all the time. It helps with chub rub and boob sweat, win/win!

I feel like I'd just end up with chalk paste in my creases. No?
