Whelp, last night I ordered over $100 of yarn. (Malabrigo Rios, so squooshy!)
A friend asked me to knit some seasonal hats for clients at her non-profit. I didn't have the right yarn already in my stash, so, ordered!
It will provide some distraction, at least...
I bought over $400 worth of fabric this week. In my defense, it was from my friend's shop. She's going out of business. I'm just helping her out. Right?

I too am overbuying and underproducing in the fabric department. I’ve had some good weeks but now I need to do more mask sewing and I just don’t want to so I’m not making or doing anything. Oh dear.

I know these feels... I find my ability to make stuff seems to come in waves, so I mostly try to take advantage of it when my inclination to knit/sew/whatever when it comes...

We're cleaning out our storage unit so that we can get rid of it and I'm unearthing... a lot... of boxes of fabric and sewing supplies. I haven't seriously sewn anything since the pandemic started so it's all just taking up so much space. I need to find my quilting mojo again.
Like others, I step away from the news for a day or two. I hate not knowing what is going on, but it was truly necessary for my mental health and anxiety. Or I'll quickly skim the WaPo app and get a quick rundown without opening anything.
I've also started back up my daily walks. And because my mom is in a deep depression, I've started involving her with my walks at least once a week. She deals with SAD already and the last year and a half of mostly isolating was really rough for her.
And I just joined a fall cleaning challenge, so that'll get my house in order which will make me breathe a deep breath.

I need something to kick me back into gear.
It's through GoCleanCo. If you subscribe to their newsletter you get the info for free, but it's pretty basic structure. She has it set up for each week (week 1: bathrooms, week 2: kitchen, etc). But she recommends you purge and take everything out so you can vacuum drawers, and do a true deep clean of everything. Like, the doors and door handle, the vent fans, and more. It just started last week so it's only day 3 or 4, but it's such a loose structure that you could fairly easily "catch up" no matter when you join.

If you watch her or her crew clean on IG it's intense and SUPER detail oriented. I'm not worrying about windexing my bathroom fixtures like they do because I don't need things sparkling. But she has good cleaning tips and hacks (vacuum first, always) and it's really helpful.
I know what you mean about being overwhelmed. I just threw on my headphones, blasted some upbeat music and got down to it and it really worked to help my zone out and forget for juuuuust a little bit.

Oh, I also got into a fit yesterday and trimmed my hair. I’ve been trying to make an appointment with my stepsister for a month and she’s just brutally backlogged with her existing clients. Considering she never charges me I don’t want to cut to the front of the line. I figured, what the hell, I can’t make it worse than it is, and it came out pretty decent. So I feel way better about that, and it only took me 25 minutes after a shower.

My dad and stepmom are visiting from the States, so I just took the past few days to clean and organise everything. I bought stuff to organise other stuff. My H doesn't know what hit him as I'm not naturally a cleaner or organised in this way. My house looks the best it has since we purchased it (3 weeks before lockdown 2020).
