Has anyone done one? I’m strongly considering doing it for h for Christmas, but also for myself. I’m really trying to settle in at my current size, and I think it could be a good confidence booster.
The place I’m looking is kind of pricey, but they also do hair, makeup, etc. It seems like it could be a nice little splurge.

I haven't but have considered it. I don't know if I'm there yet, though. I follow a boudoir photographer on Instagram that's based on Kansas City (I'm in Pittsburgh... So far far away) and would love her to do them for me if I went that route ever.
I do think it will be a great confidence boost. I remember being so impressed when I got my book.
Spoiler alert: you're all still hot!
Haha I do think I’m attractive and am sure I’d be impressed with a boudoir shoot now.
I just remember at the time not necessarily being in love with my body and then getting the photos and being so impressed. Now, especially, I’m like, “damn! What was I thinking?”
So I think they can be really affirming for women. You see yourself through a totally different lens.

I have several girlfriends that did it and tried to pawn it off on a gift for their H. My advice is to own up to it that it’s for you and make it a gift for yourself.
Picking out the “outfits” were a chore for them. Family pictures is hard enough for me, lol. Definitely have someone else so your hair and make up. Often times it’s included in the package. It’s expensive… $1500-$2K around here after you purchase the lingerie.
There’s one in Baltimore that I’ve heard good things about that’s very “do it for yourself” pro women/body acceptance. Not sure if that’s who you are thinking of
I really want to but don’t even know how to find a photographer who does them (not a creepy one).
A lot of places have Google and Yelp reviews! I was looking for a headshot photographer and a lot of them did this type of photos as well. Tons of reviews that were clearly authentic.

I had one done as a wedding gift for H. It was pricey as was all the lingerie I purchased. I paid for her professional hair and makeup service. I found a woman through local boards of TK back then I think. It was a lot of fun! She had champagne for me which I gladly drank to loosen up. By the time we were done I was totally comfortable, and I remember how HARD some of those poses are to hold! You have to pose in some really exaggerated ways which the photog manages to make look completely natural and it wasn't easy sometimes. Overall a fun experience, H loved the book and this is reminding me that I should probably move it to somewhere that DD won't find it. I don't feel like she needs to see that right now lol.
I did about 2 years ago and loved it! The session was super fun - most around here include hair and makeup and they brought me champagne to sip on while she got me ready. The photog was a guy which I was sort of apprehensive about, but he made it so fun and had music going and it was just such a great experience. And the pics turned out so so so good. I plan on doing it again next year!
I have a friend who needed professional head shots for the law practice where she's a paralegal. The photographer she used also offers a kind of love yourself package that's more like a fun fashion shoot- the pictures were amazing. The staid headshot she threw in as part of the deal was good, too.
I want to do it so bad, but there’s nobody around me that I really like their style of it.
If anybody is around the San Diego area and needs a Rec though, let me know! I know an amazing photographer, and budoir is one of her main focuses.
Girls trip and I'll cheer you on while I drink?!
I don't think I would have the confidence to do these. I also would think a couple one would be fun, they look so good on IG when I've seen them posted.

OMG do it. Seriously. I've done a few, two in the last 5 years, and no matter my size I have loved how the pictures look. Finding a photographer that you like their style is key. They all skew a little differently, though good ones will tailor to your level of comfort.
Agree with the above about the poses being tough to hold. Pointing toes, arching backs, making sure your lips and eyebrows are relaxed while holding a pose for a couple minutes. It was all worth it though. H has some of the photos printed out next to his side of the bed and in our closet and constantly rotates because he (we!) loved so many.
I found a place that included makeup, hair, and clothing (mostly) though you could bring stuff you wanted. It was awesome to experience things outside of my "zone".
I just did one two weeks ago! I'm recently divorced, and wanted to take some bangin' photos for my own self because I'm happier and more confident than I can ever remember being! My long-distance boyfriend's bday is also coming up so it makes a good gift for him as well. I'm arguably in the worst shape I have ever been in (thanks pandemic, single-parenting, demanding job...) and was strongly considering cancelling the session due to struggling with body image. I wanted to wait til I was "hot" again
But I'm SOOOO glad I went through with it. It was so effing fun and confidence boosting. When my photographer showed me images from the back of the camera during the middle of the session, I couldn't believe how stunning I looked! It was tough to narrow down my image choices at the end and so many of the photos were so incredible they nearly took my breath away when she showed them to me.
I originally found a boudoir photographer whose style I really liked on Instagram and called them for a consult. They were really pricy but I kept looking for one in my range and found a photographer about 3 hours from me that does phenomenal work. I paid about $1750 for the session that lasted from about 11:30 am-5:30 pm including professional hair and makeup, 1.5 hour shoot in her studio, a massage(!!), unlimited snacks and beverages and the image reveal. The price includes a book of 25 images and all the digitals of the 25 images that I chose.
I'd suggest searching boudoir hashtags on IG and try to decide what style of photography you're drawn to. Boudoir can really vary. I like the more sensual images with natural lighting, relatively untouched out of the camera.
My mom accidentally sent me to one for my high school senior photos. That was awkward.
You’re going to have to expand on this story for us lol
Ha! It was so weird. She thought she'd found a fancy photographer that rich kids used, but she'd gotten the name confused. My older sister took me. It was downstairs in a super old office complex. And by downstairs, I mean, almost underground. That was our first clue. Our second (obvious) clue was the pictures in the hallway. The only one I remember clearly was a woman perched on a woodpile.
The studio was basically a bed. My mom totally did not believe us.
I am thrilled to know that boudoir photographers have come a long way!

I was just scrolling through FB and was reminded that I have a FB acquaintance who has these taken regularly, she’s some sort of “ambassador” for the photo studio or something? She posts them on IG and FB. I think she looks amazing and the pics are great quality - she’s married with young kids like me and I just can’t imagine sharing these with my social media crowd. Like DD’s daycare teachers and the other soccer moms just don’t need to see me in lingerie.

Lol, I’d be ok if it didn’t show my face but yeah…no one but h needs to see my whole ass out.
