There was a post on my neighborhood Facebook group about “boo-ing” and how it doesn’t seem to be happening this year. Well we got boo-Ed and we passed along the boo. But now I’m second guessing myself about whether or not I put the instructions on how to boo in our boo bag. I do remember copying the instructions I think. But did they make it in the bag? So basically I’m concerned I ruined booing for the whole neighborhood. I could drive by and see if they have the sign on the door but I’m scared lol. And I also think it’s telling of my mental state right now that whenever I see there’s a problem I’m convinced I made it.
How do you keep the purple in? My daughter has pink streaks but we have to do a color refresh like once a week because it fades so badly.
She's probably having semi-permanent put in. My hair dye is permanent. I also use purple shampoo (the stuff meant for blondes). I only wash my hair once every 5-6 days too. I get a solid 10 weeks out of my color.
I have some vaca time to burn so my H and I are going to spend a long weekend in Lake Placid in early December. I've never been there, and I'm so excited! It's not a bad drive either (maybe 5-6 hours?). I wonder if there will be snow by then. I would love to go for some hikes while we're there.
There's a neighborhood block party this Saturday and I signed up to bring cookies. Normally, I would make them from scratch, but I may take the easy way out and get the premade dough that you break apart and pop in the oven. This week is just flying by and I feel like I'm running out of time to get stuff done.
I've been getting subtle purple/lavender highlights in my hair for about a year. Tuesday I went back for a touch up, but decided it was time to go bold with it and now I have more purple than natural color. I fucking love it. If I knew insert a pic, I would, so if someone wants to teach an old how to upload a pic...
I have an appointment to do the lavender highlights on 12/3. It took months of internal debate on whether or not to go through with it, but finally I said fuck it, I’m 41 and I’ve never done anything fun with my hair in my life, so I’m doing it. I’m glad to hear you love your color!
This was so much me. I was 37 at the time and hadn't had any color in my hair in at least 18 years. I was worried about how the old man owner of my company would take it, so that was holding me back too. One day I just decided I didn't give a fuck about what anyone else thought, it's what I want, so I did it. No regrets.

mel, I love it! I have a hair appt tonight, and it's making me want to do something "more fun" with my hair.
I did something on Tuesday to hurt my back. Like, in the middle, right below my shoulder blades. It's definitely the muscles, but I was so uncomfortable yesterday, and then it actually hurt to lay on my back in bed. Tuesday night I barely slept b/c every time I moved the pain woke me up. Last night I took some advil PM and I feel like a new person today. It's still a little sore, but I got a good night's sleep. I didn't wake up until 7:30 today!
I bought a Silhouette and a heat press after falling down a rabbit hole after reading a post here. Anyone need any t-shirts made? Cups? Sticker for your car? I need to find a place for the press too. This is why crafters always seem to live in giant houses in the suburbs, right? My tiny city house can’t cut it.
The cement guys are at my house right now apparently demolishing my steps as I sit here in the Michael’s parking lot. They apparently did it with hand tools? I almost wish I had seen that.
DH's travel is working out that we are actually going to get a couple weekdays off together kid-free in a couple weeks- leisurely lunches out, a hike, and a NAP! Downside is he'll likely miss DD's birthday the week after, but I don't think she'll be too upset.
I can't believe Halloween is this weekend. I think we're close enough to ready but it really sneaked up on me.

I hate the "boo-ing" tradition, it's like a chain letter with a chore attached. So if the neighbors that got it last are anything like me, they could easily have decided they want boo-ing to go away. (I fully recognize I'm a grump on this, but our family already has so many holiday traditions I don't want one more!)
If someone in your neighborhood is that passionate about it they can download the file and start another chain, they don't need to wait for the original one to come around first.
I had a consult this morning to (finally) get a dental implant for a tooth that was yanked in 2017. I've been dragging my feet but I'm worried my teeth will start to shift if I don't do it, plus I know I favor eating on the other side because food gets stuck in the gap. Damn that shit is expensive. They have to give my sinus a "lift" which sounds so funny, like a lift for sagging breasts but my sinus. It makes sense that my sinuses are low to my teeth because anytime I get a hint of a sinus infection it feels like my molars are going to fall out.
I just remembered I need to go buy the little bottles of Fireball for our trick-or-treating table for the adults.
I was in a liquor store last week that had these sealed buckets of little Fireball bottles for like $30. I was so tempted to get one even though I have NO idea when we would use it.

You didn't ruin booing. Next-door busy body can boo more people if they want.
I think booing went insane last year with all the distance and isolation so a lot of people are a little over it this year. We don't even bother with the instructions or signs at this point. We still sent out a dozen and got a few. Maybe 2/3 a normal year. But last year we got booed probably 30 times. One family of boys must have dropped off candy six times at our house, lol. Often just one or two pieces dropped on the mat and a doorbell ring.

yeah this is usually what we buy! It's perfect haha

This is a great idea! I'll have to look and see if our liquor store has that.
Also. Yesterday I was sucked in by an Instagram ad and ordered custom sleep tshirts for the kids with a cartoon that looks like each of them with our cats. My kids need nothing. They're going to be holiday presents.
This is my first Instagram order ever. I'm so 2011.

H’s surgery is finally behind us! I’m hoping this means my mental health will start improving as well, though of course I’m not stopping drugs or therapy any time soon.
The drugs made him so dopey yesterday. I told him he was staring at me like I was the greatest thing he’d ever seen, and he said, “You ARE the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.” Oh, that guy, ha.

Sitting in the longest board meeting everrrrrrr. Holy cow. My co-worker is out on maternity leave, so I have to cover this one and do the minutes for her. I am not looking forward to putting these minutes together, ughhhhh. My laptop is about to die and I forgot my power cord, also good times.

Being a single mom is hard. Being a single mom to teenagers is even harder. I don’t want a husband, but it would sure be nice to have another adult to help make decisions for my kids.
Yesterday, my teen came out of their orthodontist appointment saying the ortho recommends switching to Invisalign, because "my teeth are growing in wrong."
H and I were both muttering, 'Uh, that had better be free, because we prepaid for the entire treatment, with the understanding that our prepayment would cover everything.' But you don't know if your kid has completely mixed up a message, so we waited to hear from the orthodontist.
This morning I got a follow up message from the orthodontist's receptionist, saying yes, DD now needs Invisalign because "her braces keep breaking."
Argh, this is the first I've heard of this, and DD was supposed to get their braces off in four months. Maybe DD has just been afraid to tell us? IDK, it seems like, since they don't allow parents in the office anymore, they should be following up regularly, and earlier with concerning info like this.
So I've got to call the office back. I really don't want to sink another couple $K into what I had assumed was going well and almost finished.

Can you send a link? This would be perfect for my daughter.
My H got his Pfizer booster last night. He had no reaction to the first two, but today he said he’s incredibly tired and he’s actually leaving work early. It seems weird he’d have no reaction to the others but did for this one. I hope he isn’t actually sick. (See also: my anxiety is out of control) lol

This was the case for both my H and me, too. I was functional but dedinitely rougher with shot #3. My H felt under the weather for a couple of days. We both had nothing other than arm pain for the first 2.

My Pfizer booster kicked my damn ass. The first two I had no problems. With the booster, I was down for days and then was fine by the 3rd/4th day.
