We had a warmer than usual October, and now temperatures have tanked and we are unprepared. DS needs a jacket somewhere between a fleece/hoodie and his winter coat.
I got in on clearance. I would not pay this much for it, but there are tons of similar jackets out there. I like any of the "packable" down/synthetic down jackets for this type of weather since they tend to be thinner than some of the puffier ones or the fleece lined ones, which also makes them less warm in my experience so good for those in between days.

My kids love sherpa-lined hoodies for this weather (and they will wear them most of the winter unless playing in the snow). We've gotten them from Old Navy/Gap, Kohls (boys only though, but dd tends to wear ds's old ones) and Walmart when I couldn't find them elsewhere one year. Just googling now brought up ones from Old Navy and Land's End.
