I had my boudoir session Friday, and omg, the pics are SO GOOD! I can’t wait to get my book! The whole experience was so fun. Someone did my hair and makeup, and the whole time, the photographer was hyping me up. I have huge, droopy boobs, lol, but she knew all the flattering poses for me. If you’ve been thinking about it, do it!
That's awesome, Bernadine! I'm so glad you're happy with the experience!
I'm back to work after being off for a week. My H has to travel for work this week, so he was up at a ridiculous hour to head to the airport. I couldn't get back to sleep so tonight is going to be an early night for me. I have mountains of laundry to do, too. Wah!

This week is going to be insanely busy. I have a work event every night this week, and this weekend I am taking DD to Denver for the weekend. I don’t mind if it’s busy so long as it’s not intense, which the last few weeks have been. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
DD was on crew for the school play this past weekend, and I am just so happy about how much she enjoyed it, and the opportunity it gave her to build her community in a new school and make some new friends. She's already planning to be part of the spring production too.
I can't believe next week is Thanksgiving, and then Advent/Christmas season starts. I feel like the rest of this year is just going to go by so fast! Need to spend some time today finishing my Thanksgiving grocery list and going over what I still need for Christmas presents.
I’ve realized as I’ve gotten into weaving that a good chunk of people who weave are over 60 and live on a sheep farm. I’m trying to get a grant to learn techniques and guess where I am headed today??
Cross your fingers, she said to wear shoes that can get dirty or wet. Short Hunter boots count right? I am a city person lol
DD1 is in 8th grade (14 years old). She's been "talking" to a boy from another school (also 14 years old and in 8th grade). He's a friend of her best guy friend and I guess this is this generation's version of dating. Whatever.
Apparently he was "dating" a girl before DD, she broke up with him, but she got jealous when he started talking to my DD. So, IN A CAR FULL OF TEENAGE GIRLS, her MOM stalked our name on FB and found ME! She was apparently looking for pics of DD? One of the girls in the car told the boy who then told DD (because everyone thought it was seriously creepy). I am kind of dumbfounded. 1. That an adult would engage in this ridiculous behavior 2. That she would do it in front of other children
Glad you had such a good boudoir experience, Bernadine!
I volunteered to make GF muffins for a teacher breakfast this morning and tried two new recipes. Normally I am used to being a little bummed with the results of GF/DF baking ... it is really, really hard to get texture right, and even taste can be tricky because you're often using ingredients that are nut, coconut or bean-based that can throw things off.
But the recipes I made this weekend -- pumpkin streusel GF/DF muffins from NYT Cooking and cranberry-orange-pecan muffins from Cooks Illustrated -- were flat-out amazing and would be stand-out even compared to regular baked goods. I made enough to both donate and keep some. My kids (who are not GF/DF) had a choice of Costco danishes or my muffins as part of breakfast this morning and they both chose the pumpkin muffins.
Also, it sounds like our pool project could have all permits by the end of the week and excavation could start within two weeks. OMG OMG, this is actually happening! We're going to have an awesome outdoor space by early next summer. Annnnnnd the county inspectors just rang my doorbell so they can check out the siting marks. Eeeeeeeek!
gummybear, WTF. I would be double and triple checking that all of my family’s social media accounts were on lockdown as far as privacy-levels go after that. Jesus Christ, people are so weird.
gummybear wtf. I can almost see the temptation no, don’t do that!! And certainly don’t tell anyone about it. What a bizarre way to act.
My class tonight is cancelled - woohoo! I am feeling very over this semester and don't want to go to class anymore at all. Too much reading and other stuff that I still need to do to also spend time in class.
We are leaving for vacation on Saturday and I can't wait. This is really horrible timing to go on vacation, between being my final weeks at my job and the final weeks of the semester of grad school, but I am really looking forward to seeing my family and being at a nice resort relaxing for a week.
Today (and this week) I need to start telling people at work that I'm leaving. My supervisor knows, and I told one other coworker I was probably going to leave, but I haven't told anyone else. I hate having these sorts of conversations but my department is weird about information sharing so I don't anticipate an actual announcement going out for a while.
I had some much needed downtime this weekend. Saturday I had a spa day with my Mom and SIL and then Sunday I did brunch with my bestie and then roamed around Ikea for several hours. I did talk to her about what is going on with my H and it felt good to actually talk to someone.
Speaking of Ikea, I forgot how much I like it there. I haven't been in years but they have so much stuff that is reasonably priced. I ended up getting white dinner plates to use for Thanksgiving since I'm having 30ppl at my house and they were less than $1 each. I don't even care if they break
I just need to get through this week at work and then I'm off all next week. I really need the break. I also start therapy next week which is much needed as well.
I was supposed to have dental work done today but my dad (the dentist) had his Covid booster and isn’t feeling well today so we moved it to Friday. So now I have my whole day free! I might do some Christmas shopping and do some cooking for the week. I had planned simple stuff but now I have some time to cook ahead.
So our very delayed 20 year HS reunion was this weekend (only over a year later) and I had to zoom in on so many photos with the name tags. I could not place many people or remember their names.
I left for college and only came back briefly and for 18m after grad school, but didn't maintain any HS friendships with people from my class.
I ended high school on a sad note, lost a big friendship due to some bullying by a friend's mom unfortunately.
DD was up screaming all night for some reason last night. This is incredibly unlike her. Around 3/4am H slept with her in her room, so they got a couple hours of sleep. I probably slept for like 2 hours. She was obviously a mess this morning so I'm trying to work with her home. She seems to be getting sick.
We've had a trip planned and then canceled to visit the ILs twice now (once because BILs whole family got covid, and then our car ended up in the shop). We're supposed to make our third attempt this weekend and I have a feeling it's not going to happen again. Our car is still in the shop (no word if they even have the parts yet), and now a potential sickness hitting us. I'm so annoyed, I just want this trip out of the way.
gummybear , WTF. I would be double and triple checking that all of my family’s social media accounts were on lockdown as far as privacy-levels go after that. Jesus Christ, people are so weird.
DD only has TikTok, which is private and my Insta and FB are private. DH and DD2 aren't on social media. Why are people like this?
DS (10) flat out beat me and DH, both writers, at Scrabble last night. I'm so proud of the academic progress he's made in the past year.
(About a year ago, he was diagnosed with ADHD plus a fleet of LDs, math and reading/spelling. He really slid back during the pandemic but he had a great report from his classroom teacher and his tutor on Friday.)

DS got his first round of Covid vaccine on Sat. It was as bad as we suspected. He was fine until a stranger tried touching him. I wish I could just jab him with supervision. The staff was super friendly and caring. We warned them it was going to be rough. We get to do it all again in 3 week!
gummybear - it sounds weird, but I'd also remember that you're getting this story through three 14-year-olds (the girl in the car > the boy > your DD) so it might not have gone down exactly as you're hearing it.
Listen to this story. Am I nuts for thinking this is totally weird?
That is crazy! You are not nuts, not one bit!
When I was in high school, a bitch of an acquaintance of mine wrote a note to make it look like *I* wrote it saying how much *I* had a crush on this guy in our grade. Well he had a gf and one day I was walking home from school and the girl and her mom drove by and the mom yelled out the window at me “he gave her a ring!!!”. I was so shocked because #1, I did not write the note and #2, that a parent would get involved in harassing a teenager. I remember mouthing to myself “I don’t f’ing care”. Fortunately I just ignored anything said to me about this and it eventually stopped, but it’s obviously not forgotten.
We leave on Saturday for a week at my parents' for Thanksgiving. I'm really excited about going (well, being there, not the 12 hour drive) since we couldn't go last year.
That said, I'm somewhere in between checked out from everything bc I'm so ready for vacation and overwhelmed with all of the things I need/want to do before we leave.
I have to pack for myself, DD, and DS. And probably help DH a little. At least three loads of laundry this week before packing can be done. I have to get the house cleaned/picked up/ready for our cleaning person, who will be coming while we're gone. And I'd like to take down all of the fall decor so that I have a clean slate for Christmas decorating when I get back.
Oh, and I have SO MANY THINGS I need to sew, embroider, or make for the holidays. I'm glad I work from home so I can sneak a few small projects in between meetings, but man this job really gets in the way sometimes.
Finally, I kind of love the new Reese's Peanut Brittle cups.
My cat has fleas 😫 I called the vet today but they can’t see her until the 30th so I’m going to Petsmart on my lunch to buy some advantage and some stuff for our area rugs to vacuum up. I’m also going to wash all of her bedding and ours. I have no idea how she could have gotten fleas, she doesn’t go outside.
My H will be starting a new job, they are just arranging for his drug test which he will pass. He's been unemployed since Jan 2020. Its not in IT, but they said they will train. We aren't going to lose our house, the mortgage company is working with us to modify the loan. Really glad I can relax a bit! We also agreed to start looking for a dog. My westie passed away at the beginning of September.
My sons birthday is tomorrow, party is Saturday afternoon. We all have hair appts this week to get presentable for family lol. Saturday night we are going to a Friendsgiving. Sunday I drive 9 hours with DS9 to my parents in Virginia for Thanksgiving, H will fly out Wednesday night and we all drive back together Saturday after. I'm a little panicky about how insane this next week is going to be.

I opened up a whole can of worms today! A friend told me yesterday that she had pulled her kids from the main pediatric dentist group in our town because the office wasn’t requiring vaccination. I was skeptical because we live in a crazy area of high vaccine and general Covid compliance. We are right in the main medical area for Boston hospitals so 90% of people are super gung ho on vaccines. Even out yoga place has a big sign touting all instructors are vaccinated. And a PEDIATRIC DENTIST - so medical staff, with a population that mostly couldn’t be vaccinated themselves, plus in a setting where you literally can’t wear a mask? I thought no way.
So I call this morning - and it’s true! They don’t have a mandate and won’t confirm vaccination (keep in mind this practice requires that patients show vaccination status if we travel out of state. WTF). When I said we were a high risk family and could they at least guarantee our hygienist was vaccinated when we come in - nope.
So, I posted on our town Facebook page asking for recommendations for another dentist and why and now chaos is ensuing lol. I guess people can’t even get through to the dentist on the phone because so many people are calling to complain. My friend who is a pediatrician (and sends her kids there - had no idea! No one even thought to ask because it’s so normalized here!) is on a rampage. I think I might need to go into hiding - ive stirred some major shit up.

I had to get up at 4:30am to take my mom to the airport. I didn't know it was possible to be as tired as I am right now. It was a great weekend, but man am I glad to have my house back.
Also, we leave a week from tomorrow for our Thanksgiving/Anniversary trip and I cannot wait. I don't know how I'm going to make it through a whole week of work - I already have zero motivation.

We had this issue once with our indoor-only cat. Best I could figure is we tracked them in from outside or something. It was tough getting rid of them, you can give them a pill from the pet store (maybe it's called Capstar?) that will kill all the adult fleas on the cat, but they key is combing them after with a flea comb to get any eggs (blech) that remain and vaccuming often and thoroughly. When I would comb him I couldn't believe how many we would pull off (again BLECH).

devonpow WOWWWWWW! being from the same general area that is really surprising! I can only imagine the shitshow on FB over it, would be the same if something like that went down around my area. I think that practice is going to regret that decision big time.
