DH has hand, foot, mouth. There was an outbreak at daycare, so either DS2 is a carrier or he had it and just never developed the telltale sores. Poor DH has sores on his hands and says it feels like he has been working on the rose bushes without gloves.
My cold is still lingering, which is annoying.
And, so gross, so TW: We have rodents, most likely rats according to the pest guy, between our floor and ceiling of our middle level. It appears they got in there through the garage. We’ve never seen any activity, but you can hear them at night walking around. So now we’re getting set up with a pest control company to try to lure them out with bait and hope that they die outside the house and not up in the ceiling. And because they’re rats, they’re smarter, which means they’ll probably be tougher to get out. I am so, so grossed out. I also can’t figure out how the fuck we didn’t notice given that that area of the ceiling was completely open a couple of weeks ago when the contractor was working on building out the office.
isabel, do you think maybe they got in WHEN the contractor was working on the office? If you didn't notice them before, maybe it gave them an opening? Otherwise, rats/small animals tend to hide pretty well so I imagine if they were already there, they probably took off when the contractor was there. Regardless, I'm sorry you are dealing with that!
I think I want to buy a new phone, but I keep going back and forth. My phone is fine, but I've been pissed for over 2 years about it because I used to have a Google Pixel that I loved, and it got stolen when I got carjacked. I got my current phone, a G7 ThinQ, because it was less expensive to buy as a replacement, but I've never loved it. It is fine, but the pics tend to be more variable. Sometimes they are beautiful, and sometimes they are blurry or have weird lighting issues.
Anyway, if I order a new phone directly from Google I can save $100, but it won't arrive for a month. We are going on vacation next week and of course NOW I have a bug to replace it. I tried to see if one was available to pick up in a Verizon store, but the website doesn't seem to be working (it keeps telling me a store in South Carolina is 10.5 miles from my house - i wish!).

No. The contractor never did anything from the exterior. They took down a wall and removed part of the ceiling, then framed a new wall a few feet back from the one they took down and put up new drywall on the ceiling. Most likely, they were already up there and just scattered when the work started. Also, we wouldn’t necessarily have noticed them before because they’re in the ceiling above the basement, which we generally don’t spent time in at night. Now DH’s office is down there and so he’s down there in the evening and can hear them scurrying (hork) above his office.
I was really hoping for a better solution than luring them out with bait, but that’s all any of the pest companies have suggested. So fingers crossed it works, I guess.
Can I just vent with the caveat of I love this puppy, but OMG she is high maintenance already. She's been itching, so after the zyrtec didn't work, she's on a steroid for just a short period. But it says it makes her pee more. OMG, so much pee. She went into the crate and peed on her bed! I didn't think dogs did that, but WTF do I know? Our last dog hated the crate, but I don't remember her peeing in there at all.
Today I have to run an errand, so after lunch she's going in the crate for the first time with us not home. We've been doing short periods of us home, but this is the first. Fingers crossed it's not a total shit show (possibly literally).

I went to a drag show last night that a family member was in, it was so fun! I loved his outfits. I didn’t leave to go out till 11pm, which hasn’t happened in a few years lol. Got home around 2, so this morning I treated myself to a latte. So far the day is going well, so thank you caffeine!
@@@ I had/have an ectopic pregnancy and the past few weeks there was a possibility of having to have surgery due to what was going on, but yesterday I got good news about my blood work and pretty much def won’t need surgery so it was fun to go out and celebrate a little

Isn’t one of the symptoms a cold?
Yes, generally starts with typical cold symptoms. It could be HFM, but feels like a standard cold. I’m not congested anymore, just dealing with all the draining that goes along with having a stuffed up sinus cavity.
I decided I'm ordering sushi for lunch, they have a special with miso soup that is so good.
Is anyone else still so tired since the time change? Not sure if it's seasonal depression already or I'm fighting something off. Coffee is my BFF lately
This is week 10 they have been working on our basement finishing project and they said it typically takes 6-7 weeks. The contractor has been really great with communication etc and we can't complain too much but they need to finish! At the beginning they were rolling quick everything and now that they are almost done its seems to be taking forever. They have some tile work to finish, the electrician is putting in the lighting fixtures today and the plumber and cleaning crew sill needs to come out too. Hopefully it will be done by Friday.
After a month long saga we finally have our new washing machine hooked up. I just did two loads and you’d think I’d gotten a VIP ticket to the Up in Smoke tour 😛
I did a weaving studio visit yesterday which seems like it might lead to something fruitful both hobby-wise and unexpectedly career-wise so yay.
Then on my way home I managed to hit a line-free Trader Joe’s to get my annual peppermint marshmallows and there was a Nothing Bundt Cakes nearby and I’ve always wanted to try that! And returned 4 things at the UPS store without stabbing anyone.
Very successful day except that the outside door seal came unconnected from my car as I drove down the highway. Not good. I was able to rescue it but I guess I need to figure out that replacement. I sort of feel like I can replace it myself??
Ok, last boudoir session post, lol. I told the photographer she could post my pics in her closed Facebook group, so she did, and the comments were all SO nice! Really made my day!
wanderingback, I've been creepily following along on TTTC and I'm glad you don't need surgery. I am sorry that you've had to go through that at all, though.

isabel oh man I hope your DH is over it soon and you don't get it. I got HFM as a teenager and it the sickest I ever remember being to this day. It hits adults so much worse then kids.
wanderingback looking for the not needing surgery. I'm sorry you went through that though.
I'm so glad my H had a fairly flexible job. He went back yesterday, and then my oldest came home with a fever and her and the 2 week old did not sleep literally all night. Taking turns though being awake though of course lol. So he's taking another week off because I can not handle all this. Anyways there is not enough coffee for me today.
isabel we had a minor mouse infestation in the basement last winter and ended up killing like 20+ mice. Once we stopped catching them I basically bleached every thing. Well, yesterday I decided to clean out my desk drawers because I'm getting a new desk. I pulled the one drawer out and there was a mouse nest all the way in the back. So yeah, I now need to move LOL
I just realized the Thanksgiving is next week and I host. I've done nothing except for buy 8 pounds of butter
I had a load of sourdough proofing before 6am, had oatmeal going in the cooker before DH finished his shower, baked the bread, fed the dogs, made a batch of crackers, did a load of laundry, relaxed and drank my chai latte, and went through Christmas bins in search of something that is still hiding from me... and I put the bins back. All before 11am. Who am I? lol
DH has been trying to prepare for his trip to the Netherlands this weekend. One of the guys in the office moved from here to the main office there over a year ago, so H asked him if he wanted him to bring anything for him. He told H to bring some Reese's and kisses for the office, that the staff went nuts over them when he brought some to them.
H thought it was weird that he didn't ask for anything for himself, or for his wife, so today he asked him if he could think of anything that he wanted. He said he didn't want anything, so H said 'what about something for (wife's name)?', and the guy said 'Oh crap! I should have thought of that...', then he said that he would get back to him. Oops.
I mentioned a couple of days ago that we started putting up Christmas lights on the windows, since DH will be gone when we normally turn on the lights, and I want to be able to enjoy them, even if he isn't here. We got new lights for the windows, put them up, then realized that the window on the studio needed something, and ordered another set. We got those put up, and realized that the porch needed something, so I found some complementary light's for there. We put those up yesterday during his lunch, and lit them all to make sure everything was working. The neighbor across the street came out and started talking. We were looking at my house, and discussing how much we like the new lights, when we both said in unison, "Except for that window...it needs something. "
The guest room is set back from the living room by something like 16 ft, so I always forget that it is there, and has a front facing window that is visible to our neighbors. There used to be shrubs that blocked it, but we removed those a couple of years ago.
We had hoped to have a fence installed on that side by now, (the window would be 10 ft. behind the fence), but that hasn't happened, so I ordered yet another set of lights. The last set...we are absolutely not getting any more light sets. lol

What is a zombie icon? I don't see one.
eta: I see 2 squares in the title. Is that it?
Oh yes probably. I don't know what decides whether you see icons or squares. Maybe we should just use the words ZOMBIE THREAD?
I think my H's trip to the Netherlands is going to be canceled, because of the covid surge there. The office there is going back to wfh full time, so it really wouldn't make sense for him to be there.
It looks like I may need to think about Thanksgiving food after all.
I had an eye doctor appointment this morning and I didn't have to get my eyes dilated! That made my day! My prescription changed again, and now I need glasses specifically for work and another pair for everything else. I picked 2 different frames and they're both so fun. I'm really excited to get them!
