There is an angry squirrel right outside my bedroom chattering away. I am so annoyed. I knocked on the window, but that just made it angrier. I have no idea what it’s mad at. Edit: DH just tried to spray it with the shower, but the head doesn’t extend that far. Lol
I am on PTO today! Yay! I am making a chocolate silk pie and rolls. My dad is making apple pie. And, if it’s not a red flag day, we’ll go shoot rockets in the park. Should be a fun day.
I'm hoping work tells us to log off early today. Until then I think I'll mostly be sitting on the loveseat in my office watching Shameless and jiggling my Bluetooth mouse every so often so I stay active on Teams. I have literally no work to do and all of the devs from my team are on PTO today.
Other than that, I'll be cleaning and making up the guest room for my mom. Stella usually sleeps in that room so I need to do a full bedding change lol
I also need to pick up a few sides we ordered from a local bakery/caterer and I think we're also going to go get our Christmas tree today so my mom can decorate it with me this weekend.
Truly random - I've started to get a lot of spam calls from Wisconsin lately.

It’s pie day! I’ve got Apple, chocolate, pecan and pumpkin to do today and I’ve got to add my turkey to its brine.
In true Midwestern fashion, we have invited my MIL to Thanksgiving for a total of 3 adults and 2 children, and I will prepare enough food for 173 people and still panic that it is not enough.
I took today off and I have the cleaners coming at noon so I am picking up. One kid has school but the other doesn’t so I have the 6yr old home with me. I’m making her set the table right now.
We had our dining room wallpapered last week and I am OBSESSED with how it looks. I can’t wait to host in here!!
My Covid anxiety is in overdrive right now. If my grandma feels up to it she’s going to come with my uncle for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I spent all day yesterday washing anything I could with disinfectant…like walls, tables counters. I made H change the furnace filter and now I am browsing air purifiers. I don’t want to unintentionally be the one to give her Covid. Gah!
Squirrel update: I opened the window. It yelled at me and then ran down, looked suspiciously at the hedge, climbed the other tree in the front yard and proceeded with his chattering. At least that tree is further from my bedroom window.
Decorating for Christmas is a good idea too. I’m going to put the big ornaments in the front (chattering squirrel) tree and get the Christmas tree set up.
And finish Hidden Valley Road! For some reason the end has taken me a long time to get through.

I’m so excited for the long weekend! Apparently our office is closing at noon today but it was only announced in one internal meeting earlier this week and no email or calendar hold or anything. Super weird and sketchy but I’m logging out at 12 anyways lol.

I still need to go grocery shopping for thanksgiving food. Thankfully dad picked up the turkey yesterday. Stores don’t usually run out of potatoes, right?
I think I’m going to hit the gym for just a bit and then I need to run to Target for DS’s prescription. I have a couple of appetizers to make, garlic bread for tonight and the broccoli rice casserole. DH took the boys skiing and then we’ll leave for my parents mid afternoon. I put up one of our Christmas trees last evening and now I need to move the other decorations out of the way so I can put up the one in the front room. DH and the boys brought everything up and dumped it right where the tree goes.
Made my last LAST run to the supermarket before work this morning. I needed fresh herbs, but couldn't get sage After calling every store in the area to ask if they had loose nuts in the shell and being told no it was a nice surprise to find a giant stock of them there anyway. LOL My office is closing at 12. Only one boss is here and I brought corn muffins for us. I'm extra casually dressed, sipping green mountain coffee and eating a toasty buttery corn muffin. It's actually better than having the day off! My son has half a day and after lunch we're going with friends on a Turkey Trot guided hike in a beautiful local park.
My boss gave me a recipe for Cranberry Harvest bread so I got all the ingredients this morning. I'm going to let it rise overnight and get up early enough to bake it before the turkey goes in. I can't wait to try it!

What are they gonna do? Fire you? Lol I’d log off at 11. Ha

Please post a picture. I really want to wallpaper my bathroom and dining room.

Literal LOL. For those following along with my insane notice period saga, they've now put two and two together that I'm leaving for my old boss' team at another organization we work closely with and they are Very Offended. Now they're a) insisting that I can't send out my own email to foundations, other partners etc. saying that I'm moving on. Our executive director (keep in mind I am not particularly senior) is going to send out out on my behalf saying that I've decided to move on; b) am not "allowed" to tell people where I am going to, just that I've decided to leave.
The first bothers me mostly because the most logical conclusion someone could draw is that I've been fired or otherwise terminated. The second is just dumb because I'll pop up literally the following Monday working at an organization where I'll be connected to nearly all the same people (in some cases even attending the same meetings representing a different organization.) SO FUCKING STUPID WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!

TR, I'll be doing the same mouse jiggling game while cooking for tomorrow and holding a new baby.
On the flight prior to mine yesterday, people were being assholes about wearing a mask and made my flight an hour late. Thankfully they held my connection for me.
seeyalater52, this is only going to reflect poorly on them when people figure it out. But this isn’t the only thing they’ve been dumb about, so… good riddance!
I’m so excited for you to move into your new role and your new house! I hope it’s a great fresh start.

I'm working today (I'm WFH), but this afternoon I'll start making rolls. I can get the dough done over lunch and then by the time the dough is done rising, I should be done with work and can get them in the oven. I started making these rolls after my paternal grandma passed away - she always made them for family get togethers and holidays, so I wanted to continue the tradition. (Even though it's just my parents, DH, DS, DD, and me having Thanksgiving together.) I've been learning to make pies from my mom, and she makes them the same as her mom and grandmas did, so that is another tradition I want to continue.
I have some books I want to start reading over the long weekend, and my goal is to finish at least one.

We have a few errands to run this morning, then I'm getting a pedicure this afternoon. I'm hoping H might start putting up some of the outside lights today since it's mild out.
We're heading up to see my parents and grandparents tomorrow-Friday for Thanksgiving. My mom is ordering in all the food so no one has to cook anything! It'll be the first time I've seen my grandparents since Covid started, so I'm very excited. We're all boostered so I feel pretty good about it.
What are they gonna do? Fire you? Lol I’d log off at 11. Ha

lol when I quit my super toxic job (for another job in a different field), I found out later that the owner/CEO told interviewees for the position that I had left to go back to school. LOL FOR DAYS. The person they hired right after me walked out one day (a few months in) with a hot cup of coffee on her desk. That's how bad that place was.

My work said yesterday we could all leave at 3. One instructor told the students she’d stay (without talking to our boss) so no we’re all staying until 5. Wheeeeeee!
Lol. Yesterday I was mad, today, I’m just annoyed. Progress is progress, but a coworker is going to talk with her about seeing how things affect others, committing to things that directly contradicts what our boss says with out talking to her first, etc etc. So basically the yes we will stay was an ass covering move.
H and I are off today but the boys still have a half day of school, so he's dropping them off right now while I sip coffee on the couch. We offered to let them stay home, but it's the annual Turkey Trot and they both really wanted to do it. I fully support any school administration that realizes how futile it is to get middle schoolers to concentrate on instruction the day before a holiday break and just makes them run laps around the park instead.
Meal prep for tomorrow will be minimal. This is the first Thanksgiving in over a decade where we'll be eating with extended family, and my mom and sister dibsed all of the sides that can be prepared in advance. I'm not complaining, but it's very weird not to have a massive to-do list today after handling almost all of the Thanksgiving cooking for the last 18 years.

I have a basic roll dough. I can either a) bake as is for decent basic rolls, b) split and twist into a fun design, but still leave basic, c) coat with something - glaze, garlic butter, or ??, d) fun design and some coating.

Management told us to sign off at noon today, so only two hours left! MIL is taking my girls to see the new Disney movie Encanto, and H is working then getting his booster AND flu shots, so I'll have the afternoon to myself! I have to pick up my grocery order at 2 and then I'm going to bake some pumpkin bars for tomorrow. I'm glad to be able to just enjoy myself this afternoon with no obligations.
I REALLY want to put up my Christmas decorations, but my house cleaner comes on Tuesday so I'd rather wait for her to clean everything up first (what a problem to have, I know).
