So, I went to the dr for my little fainting episode. She was less concerned about that than she was that my resting heart rate, when I got there, was 119. It was down to 95 when I left. They did an EKG there - normal. Ran all possible blood tests - normal. She told me to kind of keep an eye on it, take it when I think about it. It's been between 80-110 every time. She wants me to go to a cardiologist. Do I have to? Could this just be stress? Am I going to explode?
If I do, Habs gets my fabric stash and Sweetday my kid.

My heart rate has always been on the rapid side (80 or so). Low blood pressure, though, and no one has ever commented on it. If your doctor is concerned, it's worth getting it checked out.

I would go. I had an issue (turned out not to be an issue) and the initial tests they ran weren't bad. I just had to wear a monitor for 24 hours and keep a journal thingie. Good luck!
just go to the cardiologist. it could be a whole bunch of shit - dehydration, anemia, blah blah blah, or it could just be nothing and that's just your normal heart rate. or maybe you were stressed or thinking of something that got your heart rate up. my normal heart rate is in the low 100's. usually around 105-110. and that's just my normal.
but just go to the cardiologist. why the fuck not?

Mine is usually around 90-95 resting. I've been to various cardiologists and have had lots of tests done. The consensus so far is that I just have a rapid heart rate for some odd reason. I would at least get it checked out.
Go to the cardiologist. Mine is generally low and BP is fine but I've had a few episodes I related to stress prior to my diabetes dx and since one of the first muscles affected is the heart that was not a good thing. Check with a cardio, especially since your doc recommended it.
I hate tests. They always come back normal and then I feel like an alarmist.
dude, it's a good thing when tests come back normal. sometimes it's frustrating because you want just ONE test to come back abnormal so you can pinpoint it. but just go!

Thank god i'm not the only one. Resting for me is between 90-100. I got turned down to give blood because my heart rate wouldn't get below 100. I'm a very stressy person too.
But yeah, go to the doctor just in case. I used to faint when I got overheated because I had high blood pressure due to BCP.
I have an irregular heart beat and was fortunate to have it show up on the EKG. Meds take care of it . Yes, see the cardiologist. It could be something minor or it could be something that needs attention. GO!

Agreed. I think the best thing is to rule out any underlying heart issue. I work for a cardiologist and well respected EP. They may do several tests 24-48 hour holter monitor or a 30 day event monitor. Maybe an echo as well. It could turn out to be just a normal for you but it is best to get it checked out.
Please please please go. I don't wanna be an alarmist or anything but my FIL died of a heart attack and never went to a cardiologist to get anything checked out. He was only 67.

Without medication mu heart rate is constantly around 130. I just had my annual check up with the cardiologist and I had an echocardiogram and wore the Holter monitor for 24 hours since it had been a few years since I last had those two done. I also have about 100 PVC palpitations per day. I am on a beta blocker for the rest of my life, annual ekgs at the cardiologist, and no caffeine ever. It's not bad though. Sometimes I'd LOVE some regular coffee but at least I can still get the taste and habit fix with decaf!
My heart rate used to be around 100 back when I smoked. I've quit for almost five years and it's just now came down to 60-80 range. I also started taking fish oil a few months ago, I have no idea if that's helped. It's weird, I've always had a low blood pressure and high resting heart rate, though.
I'd definitely get it checked out but wouldn't be overly concerned about it.

I do without medication. I have sinus tachycardia. I was noticing that I was out of breath doing simple things, lightheaded, almost passing out. Working out and being in the heat made it worse.
I was at the doctor for something else, and they took my pulse and it was 130. They told me to lay on my side, and asked if I'd felt anything different. At that particular moment, I didn't but had in the past.
Initially, my doctor thought I had mitral valve prolapse. I went to the cardiologist, had a stress test and had to wear an event monitor for 21 days. Basically, I had electrodes on on me and a portable cell phone to record my hear rhythm and rates 24/7 (except for 15 minutes a day). Basically, I've generally been fine ever since. Every now and again, my medication needs to be adjusted, but that's it.
I also have high BP, so I go to the cardiologist about every six months, unless something is up. You can PM if you have more questions. Good luck getting some answers.
I hang out in the 90s. ::shrugs:: normal is 60-100ish? If your doctor thinks you should go, I guess you should. When mine is running higher than that it is either stress or because I just ran a couple flights of stairs. Cigarettes and caffeine can also affect this.
Take your resting heartrate as soon as you wake up. Don't move, just take your heartrate. Do that for several days to get an idea of your average resting heartrate.
