I loved it, but God that was so freaking depressing also.
In “funny” news, a long time ago I was mistakenly added to the trumpiest qanon loving local Facebook group you could ever think of. I have continued to stay in it as I’ve learned the people and businesses I should avoid. Anyway, someone posted on that board something along the lines of “wow you guys it’s just like what’s going on right now” and I’ve never heard of someone so freaking dumb in my life.

So, they see the parallels to the situation, but not to the cultish anti-science and bullshit conspiracy nutters? Tracks

Did they think it was Biden?
I think Trumpers see a Lady in the white house and the VP who was very Bideny and are like YEAH THOSE DUMMIES. lol
I also think that it can be even more broadly applied to lots of things and doesn't need to be "about" just one thing or another. Little Guys fighting against govt/corporate interests, denial in the face of impending disaster, the dangers of the cult of personality, the importance of peer review etc etc. So many awesome cautionary tales! I loved it.

Yes. They’re the antivaxxers warning the world about the vast government conspiracy that’s taking place. One of them even called it one of the most important movies of our time. It’s…something.

It blows my mind how we can look at the exact same things and land on complete opposite sides.
We just watched. It was good, but so sad. The scenes at the end with the animals and people all over the world made me cry. The earth is such a beautiful place and we don't deserve it.

When Meryl Streep was smoking and talking about how she tried to hide it at first, it reminded me of Obama hiding his smoking. I definitely thought the overall character was Trumpy, but that part just reminded me of him sneaking ciggies off the back porch of the WH.
This movie was so good. Terrifyingly accurate but really good. A kid on my team acts on the side and took unpaid leave last fall to film this and is in a few scenes and it was so fun watching him!

This. It was railing against big tech and capitalism and the way we consume media. It was actually slightly less partisan than I was expecting.
I’m glad it’s got people talking about the climate crisis. We need more of that!
@@ It felt pretty real to me, unfortunately. So many people so ridiculously unaware of the reality of science and the stuff that actually matters. I recognized the feeling of despair because I have it a lot when worrying about the climate crisis. I got up and kissed my sleeping kids before I went to bed, and then I had nightmares. But I’m glad I watched it.
It's a pet theory of mine that our planet will ultimately be wiped out by a meteor, because let's face it...it's happened before. There has been more than one mass extinction on this ol' big blue marble. I believe that climate changes will wreak havoc on the world but we will still survive/adapt in misery. It'll take a meteor to make final work of us as a species.

I've always had incredibly vivid nightmares. Thanks to this movie they're all apocalyptic. We've all died due to lava, mass shooters, you name it. Of course these have happened before, and since I was a very little kid, but since this movie it's pretty pronounced. Thanks, movie! It had been in remission for a bit.
