Just used an Amazon gift card for another pair of vionic slippers. The pup got ahold of my first pair and the cheapy pair I got to replace them. Fingers crossed for this pair! Lol.
H spent last night throwing up. I really hope we can get him a Covid test somewhere today, but I’m not hopeful.

Work up with a cold today and tested positive on a rapid. H and DD were negative and no symptoms. Standing in line now at a walk in testing site for a PCR. At least I got to celebrate Christmas this year! Covid loves me in December.
starburst604, I would just go home. You’re symptomatic with a positive rapid test. Go isolate for five days and call it good. I hope your case stays mild!
I am laying in bed and have a meeting that starts in five minutes. I should probably go get in front of the computer.
I’m going to run over to Whole Foods today to return an Amazon purchase and get stuff for our New Years apps. I also need to see if Walgreens has rapid tests so we can test the kids before they return to school. The state isn’t being responsive about ordering free test kits, which is frustrating. Guess they’re feeling the same strain as everyone else.

isabel I did end up leaving. Didn’t make sense to wait 2 hours to confirm, esp with only 5 days at stake. To maybe avoid a 10 day sentence I might have stayed!
I did want to be included in the state data but i was losing feeling in my toes!

You can call and report it to your local health department.

My kids are at daycamp this week at our city's science center. Out of 20+ kids, yesterday DD was the only girl in the 8/9 age group. She was really hoping there would be another girl today, but again she's the only one. She's having a good time, but is bummed about this. Not sure if it's a STEM thing and/or parents of boys trying to get them out of the house...
People are gross. Wearing a mask, only to remove it every time you sneeze defeats the point.
On the plus side, I’m excited to have 5 more days off work!
This drives me nuts. Or the people who pull it down to talk. People those are the times you need it most. You are much more contagious when spit is flying out of you mouth than when you are sitting silently 6 feet away from me.
starburst604 I would caution against skipping the pcr. If you end up with long covid or symptoms pop up years down the road insurance will want proof or they might deny your claims later on because our health care system is fucking awful. The paper trail is a must.
signed,
I was born with a disability and have fought with insurances often even with the paper trail

Can you let me know if you find any? We’re starting to run low and I can’t find them anywhere.

Haha, even more reason not to hang out. I bet you can report your case to your county health department. That’s what we did when DS2 for Covid. We never did a PCR, but he was a close contact and had two clearly positive rapid tests.

If I do find some, do you want me to buy you a pack or two? I can drop them off (or we can meet somewhere) and you can Venmo me.
isabel, I tried to order more from CO last week too and haven't heard back so I'm glad I'm not the only one! I figured the holidays and the uptick in requests. I have two rapid tests left thankfully.

I gave our last pack to DS1’s friend’s family (both parents got Covid). Really hoping I can find some because I don’t like the idea of sending the kids back to school without testing first.
DH said he ordered some last week, but I need to confirm whether he actually ordered or just filled out the initial form.
isabel, I bet he just filled out the initial form. I hate that you have to do that then look for the email from them later to complete the order. I never got the email.

That’s what I’m guessing too. I’ve filled out the form twice in the last week and haven’t received the follow up email. 😕

Another truly random:
I read about the 5 second rule yesterday: if you can’t change it in 5 seconds, don’t comment on it.
So when I go back to work and everyone and their mother wants to comment on my weight after having a baby, I’m going to ask them if they’ve heard of this 5 second rule.
Just to be clear, 5 days is only for vaccinated/asymptomatic. if you are symptomatic, regardless of vaccination status, it says to isolate until symptoms wane, for 5-10 days from symptom onset.

I don’t understand how this works. Guy down the street learned he was a close contact, woke up with a stuffy nose, tested positive. The next day, no symptoms. Is he asymptomatic? Does he assume symptoms have waned and he only needs to wait five days from the day he woke up with congestion? If he was congested for four days but woke up totally fine on the 5th, has he completed the necessary isolation or does he need to wait five more days?

Right? Like the guidelines were a bit fuzzy, let’s make them LESS CLEAR and also BASED ON THE HONOR SYSTEM. Because it’s been working so well up til now

Oh, to be clear, it's super confusing. Ideally it would be you have to test negative to be 'done' but we all know that isn't feasible at this point.
The symptoms would start with his stuffy nose. that is a symptom. so I would say if he feels good for the next 5 days, he's good to go. However, if on day 5 he still isn't over any symptoms, then he's not done. It's not a restart the clock, it's the clock goes until he's feeling ok. Then he's supposed to wear a mask for the next 5 days when he's around people.
So there isn't a set time per se since it's based on how your individual symptoms are.

So in my scenario where he is congested for four days, but fine after that, he can isolate for five days (total, including symptomatic days), then wear a mask around people for five days, right? But if he’s congested for six days, wake up fine on the 7th, then he’s done with isolation and wears a mask for five days?

Same here. But I work for LPS. I got an email today, that parents will get at some point, that the saliva direct testing site will be open Thursday and Friday for testing before returning to school. It doesn’t sound like they are requiring it, but just recommending it, and there’s no info about appointments or walk in, so not very helpful, but it’s an option?
We have such a nice vet. We have a gecko with a lot of eye issues over the 3 years we have had her and I was dreading going today but they cleaned up her eyes (she is a poor shedder) at no cost. I could hear the vet telling the tech that she wanted to get me in and out and not charge me.
I’m indecisive and insecure about everything right now! I know I need counseling but nobody is taking new patients. Just over here taking deep breaths and finding like-minded people to talk to.
I'm trying to not spend the entire day hitting "refresh" on my email waiting for that job offer letter. Even though I am not worried about any snags in the process, I'll feel better with it in writing.
I think I'm going to make my 2021 year-end collage. I make these 16x20 collages, usually every year. But I never did 2020 b/c it was such a cluster that I didn't want to document it at the time. So I may make 2 separate collages today. (I have all the 2020 items; I just never assembled it.)
I wish schools would be virtual next week, but I know it’s too late now. Cases are OOC.
Found out last night from DH that not only did FIL go to BIL’s after BIL shared he was a close contact, but then BIL, girlfriend, and son all went to MIL’s. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I just cannot with these idiots. BIL has Covid symptoms since Monday and couldn’t get tested anywhere. MIL was supposed to have a colonoscopy Tuesday, I hope she cancelled.
I mean, I knew DH’s family were dumb, I guess I just figured they weren’t this dumb. MIL used to be a nurse for a hot minute.
