I have watched the entire season, so spoilers below*****
I liked how the tournament ended and was glad the expected match up of Robbie and Miguel did not happen. I think the winners were all who should have one. Cobra Kai all seemed to work more than Miyagi Do. Miyagi Do seemed to be dealing with interpersonal and internal conflicts more than working on skills, so makes sense Tori won.
I felt the season lacked chemistry. Robbie and Tori had chemistry, but they just barely touched on it. I felt Carmen and Johnny and Miguel and Sam all lost the chemistry they previously had, but maybe it was intentional given all the issues they were dealing with. Miguel especially. He barely was shown training compared to previous seasons, so little that I was wondering how he would even compete against Robbie.
Eta I have never seen chemistry between Amanda and Daniel. He had chemistry with his past love interests minus Robin Lively.
We only watched the first episode. I don’t even care if I’m spoiled, lol. The entire Russo family annoys me so much (except Amanda). Also was her speech off? It almost seemed like she had novacaine.

Johnny is still my favorite by far.
I started the first episode and turned it off. Daniel is insufferable and I couldn’t stand listening him quote Mr. Miyagi over and over, and Mr. Miyagi is my favorite character of all time.
Ok, we’re through episode 6 and Sam LaRusso could be crushed by a meteor and I would start a church in that meteor’s honor. What a fucking twat!!!
Could Anthony be under that meteor with her please?
Eta Daniel and Amanda need to regroup their whole family. Maybe they all should go to Okinawa for an awakening.
The entire LaRusso family could be under that meteor, and that would be fine. I love this show so hard, but all of their characters annoy me to no end.

OK! I’m finally done!
My girl! My giiiirl! I hate that Tory is going to have the horrible internal conflict of feeling like she didn’t win legitimately. I realize the ref was paid off, but Tory continually kicks the shit out of Sam every time they spar. She’ll always be the legit winner to me.
I was stoked that Hawk won. I wanted him to be the dirty-fighter-win in the last All Valley that Miguel won, so I legit cheered when he beat Robby.
I looooove the obviously-still-coked-up Silver as the next big bad. What a fucking loon! I also really liked Kreese’s “do over” moment when he encouraged Tory to fight her way (fair).
Honestly, I mostly root for Cobra Kai, which is why it was frustrating to me that the season was so splintered with the dojos. There was just so much back and forth and back and forth, but no focus on anyone. My main criticisms are the show being painfully unaware of how much their heroes suck and how the focus has moved away from Johnny. He was barely in the first few episodes! I get that they tread in the gray - Johnny kind of sucks, Daniel kind of sucks, Kreese really sucks - but they just do not seem to understand what assbags all the LaRussos are. Ffs, how many jobs did Tory lose because of fucking Lady Who Lunches LaRusso?
I really figured with the way everything was spinning out of control, season 4 would be the last one, so I’m glad they figured out a way for season 5 to happen! I just hope Johnny and Miguel Take Mexico City doesn’t last super long into the next season because I neeeed more training montages 😂

Also laughed my ass off at the over-enthusiastic All Valley board members and the wild audience at the end. I love when the show leans into the ridiculousness of the Karate Kid lore.
I love this show in all of its corny glory! The board members are hilarious and Carrie Underwood was so out of left field I loved that too. The LaRussos are the worst! He just goes on and on about Mr. Miyagi and his lessons but they are just the worst parents. He will spend time with any boy except his own and neither of them have any idea what goes on with their kids. Get your house in order man!

My husband was SO MAD about the end monologue from Daniel where he was talking about what a failure Miyagi-Do was and completely IGNORING that a student from his dojo won the whole male competition!
He cannot do anything right in our estimation. Go away, Daniel-san!
We just finished. Terry Silver was a magnificent addition to the show! So, even though it was spoiled, I noticed before Tori went in to get her bag she had all her harsh makeup off. I don’t think we’ve ever seen her without? So I think she’ll be a softer person next season.
I really cannot wrap my head around Daniel ever being a likable character. He is the most loathsome, self-righteous, simpering noodle-armed asshat I’ve ever encountered. I hate his entire family. ALL OF THEM.

gummybear agreed - Tory has always been extremely sexed up in all of her costume/makeup. I made that comment to my H that it seemed especially over-the-top this season. I assume it’s to make Sam look soooo twee and pure by comparison. It’s almost comically angel/devil on your shoulders.
I’m looking forward to stripped-down, not on the offensive Tory.

Yes. This is one community that REALLY loves youth karate!
Sam LaRusso is such an asshole! When she visited Aisha in episode 6 she only heard what she wanted to hear. Also, why do the LaRussos have a son? He's hardly in the show and when he's just the biggest asshole! The world doesn't revolve around your karate issues for 30 years ago Daniel! Get over it! And help your kids not repeat your mistakes and not be assholes for heavens sake. Amanda is a grown woman fighting with a 17 year old. Honestly the whole family needs to regroup, get some intense therapy and calm down.
Amanda is so terrible. In retrospect, it would have been great if Tory had kicked her in the face when she brought that bag of groceries back. Which was hands down the most awful thing anyone in this show has done - a bag of groceries?!?!?

The show is so over the top. I mean, they’re purposely doing that. But I wonder, since Ralph Macchio is so heavily involved in production, is Daniel meant to be so loathsome? Every character is unlikeable, but has redeeming qualities. But Daniel….there’s nothing good. Are they that tone-deaf or is turning him into the ultimate villain the point?

I hope it's on purpose. I love that Daniel and his family are obviously 100% out of touch with themselves, their behavior and the entire world around them and look ridiculous because of it. I love that the "Good guys" are the bad guys and "bad guys" are the good guys and that it keeps switching (except for the LaRussos who are always awful lol). I loved that Kenny got so good and could kick ass, but then immediately turned into a jerk and now I want to see him also get his ass kicked. It's just a fun show!
The bullying of Kenny was crazy! And then the whole “LaPusso” thing had us in stitches.
I need to talk to Ralph Macchio. Because if this is all purposely self-deprecating I will love him forever. And I’m not trying to body shame but he’s got the ultimate dad bod going on. They even pooch out his gi over his belt. I love everything about it.
I have such a love/hate relationship with this show. They at least have improved a little with the drunk driving. The first two seasons characters were always drinking and driving and it made me so mad.

I've always been Team Johnny.
Indirectly related to drunk driving, one of my favorite exchanges of the whole season:

This season was ok, we blew through it in three sittings. I've just watched Karate Kid 1, 2 and 3 for the first time as each new season came out. I'm team the LaRusso's are annoying, and the bullies. Their daughter is worse than Tory. I'm glad Amanda is trying to help Tory after ya know, effing up a lot of stuff in her life. I also thought something was off with Amanda's speech, but I thought it was our TV.
I guess I'm fine with the championship, Cobra Kai had their act together and trained harder.
The Carrie Underwood thing was so weird, and probably unnecessary.
The end was so weird. Again not knowing the movies until now I guess it makes sense, but I would have been ok with Tony going off in to the sunset.
