I am going to cheat and share a picture from our backyard. It's my favorite spot, especially in the spring and summer. We will sit outside after dinner with a drink and just chat and watch the birds.
We remodeled our entire 1st floor save the kitchen cabinets and countertops in 2020 (the entire project was DIY), but my half bath is my favorite. It’s teeny tiny so it’s hard to get one picture of the entire space.
Well, mine is my living room I posted in the other thread. But here are some pics of the rest of the room. Sorry the pics are so big!
Pieces I love in this shot - My dad's checker board he brought over from Iran. Both of my grandfathers played on it, and it is how my dad learned to play backgammon. The little blue dish was my moms, it's so ornate and I just love it.
This one is a favorite. We have started to collect and label sand from all our trips we take. COVID has sure ruined that for us, but were hopeful to add more sand to our collection soon!
We just moved 6 months ago, so we have almost no "finished" spaces. The kids bedrooms are in some of the best shape, and the guest room. I will try to PIP.
DD's room. Just this past weekend we got the rainbow area rug (Ruggable) and totally rearranged all her furniture. Once we're comfortable that we like the arrangement we'll put more up on the walls.
DS's room. I made both kids' curtains back at the old house, and fortunately we were able to reuse them. I have a second set of the bicycle curtains in DS's room; his old bedroom had 2 windows and this one only has 1. I haven't decided what to do with the fabric yet.
And this is the best room, because dogs. (Only one is mine. Two are my dad's and were here for Christmas.)
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
Indulge me, my second favorite room of the house was redoing DD1's room to a more grown up room. She is a swimmer, and a friend FREE HAND PAINTED these waves on her walls. Seriously, the talent is mind blowing! If you follow NWG on IG you will see this room is heavily inspired by her girls room in their old house.
Also, does anyone else remember back in TK/TN days, having photos of every single room of your house in your "bio". I used to love looking at everyone's photos and counting all the PB spiral tea light holders, lol!
**We have since added a bed skirt**
Favorite things about this photo - that's my old desk and it is just the coolest piece. Also the photo above it is of her and her BFF that passed away when they were in 2nd grade. She still misses him and just loves this photo of him. It was Valentine's Day, he passed about a month later.
DH made her a custom rack for all her swim medals.
madringal , omg, I was a swimmer all my life and an ocean lifeguard in college, and I'd have killed for that mural wall. I kind of still would.
It was inspired by some VERY pricey wallpaper, so you can totally get it. To cover that one wall would have been about $700. My friend charged me $250.
madringal your house is beautiful. Everyone's spaces are so warm and cozy. I wish I had some decorating talent.
Thank you! I don't know about talent. I do cozy well, because it's easy to just fill a room with plants and color. I would never be able to do a formal space. I am just not fancy enough to pick out shiny, monochormatic things.
But I follow IG accounts that match my style (Addison's Wonderland and Nesting with Grace are two of my favs) and kind of pick up (or swipe up!) ideas from them and then make them work in my space.
You know how some people can throw on a pair of sneakers, joggers and a tshirt and look purposeful and cute? And then some people will throw on the same and look like they just rolled out of bed? My house is the design equivalent of "just rolled out of bed" LOL. I lack the gene that makes decor on a table top/mantle look purposeful and not cluttered.
I love all of your homes and am so impressed by your design talent.
Madringal, I love the living room curtains and may actually order them for my house. I am planning to re-do what used to be our playroom to be a regular living area, and they would be perfect. I took a wild guess that they looked like they are from Anthropologie, and sure enough! I will check out the IG accounts that you recommended too.
jinkies, Haha good guess! AW has them in her front room and I have wanted them for years and just finally decided to go for it one day. They literally bring me so much joy! People ask me all the time for cheaper dups, and I am like "trust me...you want THESE. There is no equivalent!"

We just moved this summer, so most spaces aren't *quite* done yet, but this is our formal living room, AKA my room, and it was one of the 1st that I got mostly how I want. There are some metal wall hangings that I just got as a gift on the side table that I want to hang over the blue couch though. It is also one of my pup's favorite rooms because the windows look to the front (whereas the kitchen and family room where we spend most of our time looks on the back yard) lol.
@sameoldstory , is that adhesive wallpaper that you can put up yourself, or professional wallpaper (not sure what the right words are)?
It's just peel and stick. It was actually pretty easy to work with and I love the results.
It looks incredible. What brand did you use, if you remember? I've been looking at that stuff this past week for the first time, and there are a bunch of choices online. Yours looks top notch!

I LOVE decorating, especially kids’ rooms. My oldest has had a travel themed room since he was an infant.
Now he wants a SpongeBob themed room. I think I’ve come up with something that will be fun and not so terribly childish that he hates it in a year. I’ll post when it’s done.
My favorite and only room that feels finished is our dining room. Our living room is next, and then for my 40th, I really want to do a bedroom makeover and make it feel like a retreat.

Same! It’s sort of cheating because we just moved and haven’t put J’s room back together in our new space, but in our old house his nursery was my favorite place.
