It was 38 degrees when I woke up this morning. In Florida! I took this opportunity to make a cup of hot coffee instead of my normal iced. And that will be enough craziness for one day, thanks.

Kids are off to school. Our elementary school was down 4 bus drivers today. I should have just driven the kids today and likely will the rest of the week. It was a long, cold wait at the bus stop.
Hopeful we can sign kids up for our local swim club this spring. Till then looking into some virtual voice and drama classes to spice things up. They all 3 want to do drama camp this summer and get good roles for the play/musical they learn and perform, so maybe this will help.
We painted our main living areas before the holidays and have waited to rehang things as we wanted to move some art around. We have 90% of it figured out and will start hanging things today.
An insurrectionist came into our store this weekend! My coworker recognized her from the news. When I got home H says, "Is she in jail?" Um, no, obv. not. I need to do more research to see if that's pending.
My home office is in the basement. Every room in my house has it's own heat, so unless someone is in the basement, we don't turn the heat on. Well, after no heat for a 3 day weekend, it was cold as all get out when I came down to work this morning. I currently am using my heating pad on my lap to stay warm.
My step-kids both just tested positive for Covid. We haven't seen them since January 4th due to just regular scheduling, exposure, and now quarantine, so that sucks.
On a positive note, I love my Valentine's Day tree.
No school here. Our street has still not had a plow come down and there is about 20 inches of snow. H has helped push out 3 or 4 people who have gotten stuck trying to get out of their driveway or down our street. The worst part is that the city has alternate street parking rules and the sides were supposed to switch at 6pm yesterday. The news reported that they were asking people to move their cars, if able. Some people moved and parked on the correct side and other people left their cars (since they would likely get stuck as they were buried in 20 inches of snow). So, there are cars on both sides and I don't even think a plow could fit down parts of our street right now.
I made a huge amount of Shepard's pie for dinner last night, so I put some in separate pan to freeze for another meal. I left it out on the counter to cool to room temp before putting it in the freezer and of course forgot about it. So that was a waste.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
I hate that I can't go to my sons games in person. I don't understand why home spectators are allowed and away are not.
All players are exposed to each other Parents are exposed to their kids Home/Away sit on opposite sides of bleachers Anyone at Home (including students) can attend but parents from away team can't?
If they really wanted to limit spectaters why not 2 guests per player?
DD (13) voluntarily watched the live action Aladdin with me yesterday afternoon after we realized she hadn't seen it. The older she gets the more I really appreciate those moments.
We're flying to FL to visit my ILs this weekend, and while it seemed ok when we bought the tickets it's feeling like the dumbest idea ever now. At this point we're going, we'll of course keep our KN95s on in the airport and for the short flight, and we're literally not doing anything other than hanging out at my ILs house for the weekend. I'm half hoping our flight gets canceled for weather though.

A few months ago I had made some meals to freeze for busy nights and put them in the freezer. H had to take a few things out to rearrange and put other things in and accidently left stuff out and discovered it the next day when he went down to basement. It was sad to waste all that food - and time and effort H felt terrible about it and all but I was still a little mad at his carelessness.

Our school district went virtual for Thurs and Fri last week anticipating going back to on-site today. Nope. Too many teachers either positive for COVID or are in quarantine. I love having my kid home, so it doesn't bother me at all. BUT, he is 16. If he was elementary and needed a lot from me to do his school work...or to feed or other basic needs, I might not be so glad to have him home while I'm working. If I had to guess, I would say they will be virtual for the rest of the week.
Any recommendations for a resort in the Florida Keys? We are hoping to go this summer, and have no idea where to start with places to stay.
I found a vintage, hand blown chemex coffee pot at a thrift store for $5. Big, huge find! These things are hard to find.
My rare bird great husband broke it within 1 hour of it being home.
He’s the best in many ways, but my god he is clumsy. He has broken so many of my things. WHYYYY He usually tries to replace the things he breaks, but this isn’t really replaceable unless you’re willing to spend a lot more than $5.
He feels awful, which makes me feel awful. I told him it was cursed and our ghost (Valentina) knocked it over, not him.
I am in the office today. All I want to do is crawl back into bed and sleep for the day. It's cold in here for whatever reason, so I'm still wearing my coat and my mask is actually keeping me a little warm.
DD dyed her hair purple this weekend. It's really cute and it makes her super happy.
omglol, I've broken at least three of my husband's Chemex coffee pots. They are freaking fragile! He finally bought a generic brand and it is holding strong.
Another late bus here- we got a call that it would be 15 minutes late, but it ended up being 40 minutes late. Not the first time it’s happened, so I think in the future when we get the call, I’ll just drive dd to school.
I did one of those foot peels Sunday and I’m waiting not so patiently for the peeling to start.
I have reached the point in the winter where I am at my limit of being cold. I'm freezing sitting here. I am ready for spring and being outdoors again. At least our basement office should be comfortable in the summer.
My sister just moved to Denver, and we are talking about having a sister weekend with my other sister too, in order to celebrate my 40th birthday this summer. I'm excited, but also wondering if I should be slightly offended that I've lived here for almost 4 years now and neither sister has come to visit me, but my sister moves to Denver and we're immediately planning a trip there? Where I live is cool too! We have tons of amazing things to do here! This is typical, though, neither sister has visited me much in the 20 years I've lived apart from them. I've always been the one to travel.
I assume that part of the reason this is the plan is because my sister in Denver is single, so it would truly be a sisters only weekend if we went there. Also of all 3 of us, I think we all would have expected ME to be the one to move to Denver since I've wanted to do that basically my whole life. So I should not be offended. I just wish they would visit me at some point, lol.
My birthday is Thursday. We have a winter storm headed our way with snow possibly starting on Thursday. Not cool. DH and I are supposed to have a day date Friday. Betting that school is closed/virtual.
I'm not even sure if DH was able to book anything on my actual birthday, so I guess I'll just plan for 40 to be complete shit.

My dog vacillates between normal poop and the runs. WHHHHYYYYYY?? She eats only one thing, gets no treats, gets a daily probiotic, and has no parasites or bacteria or anything.
Is she sneaking food somewhere, somehow? Is the cat doing her bidding??

My kids have been riding their hoverboards in the basement pretty much daily for the past few weeks (after not touching them for months of course). Last night dd's stopped working. It was a bit of a crisis at bedtime, but we thought charging it overnight might help and I promised to have dh look at it today (he's working nights so wasn't around last night/this morning) if it didn't. DD spent her whole 2 hour delay trying to fix it, including partially taking it apart, despite me begging her to wait for dh to look at it. That was 2 straight hours of beeping. And now she's at school and dh is home trying to fix it, and the beeping is driving me bonkers. It doesn't sound like he is having much luck either, so I'm guessing this morning's freak out is going to continue all evening.
We went out of town for a quick getaway this weekend and while it was nice I'm also in the tired camp this morning. The bed that H and I ended up with was about as soft as a sheet of plywood. It was rough so I didn't sleep very well and because I'm a side sleeper my hips hurt as well. I was SO happy to get home to my own bed.
Driving home yesterday there was snow and ice in Kentucky and Ohio that slowed us down a bit, the ice had so many vehicles - including semi's off the road. We of course have snow and ice in Michigan but I forget that it's a bigger deal in states that don't have the equipment to deal with it like we do. It was a little intense. My H of course was pretty much unfazed by it all - so glad he was happy to drive.
I'm hiring to fill a vacancy in my office, I called a candidate on Thursday to schedule an interview and had to leave a voicemail - which I expected because it was during the workday so no big deal but the person still has not returned my call. I'm going to email today but then that's it. I wish folks wouldn't ghost, just say no thank you, I'm no longer interested, etc.

I'm in a funk. The dog is going downhill, she probably has 3 bad days per week where she doesn't really eat, want to play, or be petted. I know the time is coming sooner than I'd like it too. She still has great days through where she plays and we go on walks. Moving 800 miles is definitely stressing me, it's so complicated and damn expensive. I do think it's the best thing though.
DD is back at daycare today after quarantine, thank god. It was a real struggle getting everyone up and out of the house, but I'm so glad to have a normal work day. Of course, all I want to do is sit here in silence drinking coffee for 8 hours 😁
Last time we only got a week between quarantines. I'm REALLY hoping we have more than that this time. DD was really starting to hit threenager status last week, and the lack of routine was killing us.
Our director reminded us we need to start our performance appraisals for last year and I audibly said "ah damnit". It's my least favorite work thing every year.

Both of my kids straight up missed their bus this morning. (eyeroll) The damn Here Comes the Bus app was not working again. I think DD finally understands she just needs to to go on out there b/c its a major pain driving her to school.
