Anyone know if it's possible to block unsolicited text messages (say, from any number not in your personal contacts?)
DH received a text (pornographic photo of male genitalia) today from a phone number that we don't know, but is in our area code.
DH texted a "WTF, you sent this to the wrong GUY dude."
The other person replied with an "Oh, sorry, I thought this was Ashley's number," but then an hour later followed up with, "Well, since we're talking, are you single or married...what's your story?"
Seriously, guy?
I'm hoping this is a once in blue moon wrong number thing, and obviously we can block this specific number, but it'd be nice to block all of the spammers, too...porno dude has just sped up our desire in figuring out if it's possible to do this.
I had a slight stalker a few years ago. I asked AT&T if I could block texts from just him but they said that it was not an option. I am not sure if anything has changed since then.

This happened to me once. I did not respond, it didn't happen again. As rikki said, you can't block individual numbers on a cell phone.

I don't know about other carriers, but Verizon will block up to 5 numbers for 90 days at a time.
ETA: It looks like I'm out of luck on doing a mass block. Hrmph.
I don't know if they can be blocked but I used to get a guy trying to wrangle a pick-up game of basketball. After the third or fourth try, I e-mailed him back to let him know he's been contacting an old, frumpy, out-of-shape female he wouldn't want on his team. I got a nice response back and haven't heard from him since.
No penii though. Probably was rather a shock to your h to open that one up.

I know...I get random texts from people occasionally, but they're basically harmless: just annoying.
But yeah. He was shocked. We were out running errands this afternoon, though, and I came back to the car and he was pissed, and showed me the phone. At first, he gave the guy the benefit of the doubt. He was even MORE pissed when the guy wrote back...I don't know if he was fishing for photos or what but it was skeevy.
