I’m going to be an aunt again today! Please send good thoughts for my sister and littlest niece.
Out of my sisters and I, I have my stepson and then dd, my middles sister is having her second girl today, and my youngest sister has two girls. Dss is the only boy in the family!
Congrats! Having just spent the weekend with my 3yo nephew and 2yo niece, I'm freshly reminded that being an aunt is pretty awesome.
I'm mostly caught up on my work inbox and have a load of laundry in, still need to pick up groceries and the dog this morning. I did at least get everything mostly unpacked last night. The four day weekend with DH's family was nice, but I haaaate going straight from one work week into the next with no time home in between.

DS got eaten by mosquitos Saturday night and has had a fever off and on since Sunday afternoon. I thought it had broken last night when he was nice and cool (and had sweat through his sleep sack) around 1 am, but today he's been hot and cranky again I'm not actively worried yet since it hasn't even been 48 hours yet, and paracetamol brings it down, but I'd really like him to feel better soon!
This is probably obvious but what does the "Damp" mean in all these threads?
My random is we're redoing our life insurance and it's made me realize it's been way too long since I went to the doc for an exam. Hoping it doesn't effect my quote.
Geez - this has been a chaotic day already! I was really hoping for a snow day but nope that didn't happen. My kid did NOT want to get up and get in the shower (I mean to be fair neither did I) and then she was SO SLOW doing it and getting dressed. I don't generally go downstairs until she is ready so I can help her stay on task - I know I could but I don't want to be yelling up the stairs to hurry her along because I'm trying to be better about not yelling in the mornings. So we were running a bit behind time when we went downstairs and I was rushing around to get stuff done - thankfully I do as much as I can night before. I leave for the office after I get her on the bus - well of course the bus was a little late because of snowy roads.
THEN - today is garbage day and I got trapped in my driveway by the garbage truck LOL. We live on the center of the cul de sac and they parked at end of driveway and they parked there to do all 3 houses there, I honestly didn't complain too much because I was in the warm and the poor workers were out in the freezing weather.
Then I stopped to get my pop and getting back in the truck my running boards were slick with slush and I kinda slid/fell in to the door - I'm sure that was comical to see! Then traffic was slow because of road conditions and an accident. Thankfully my boss is VERY graceful when it comes to arrival time!
Yesterday, for the 3rd time, our HR told me they screwed up a recruitment and were going to ask everyone to reapply except we've been waiting on the list for over a month and need the position filled.
I truly cannot comprehend the poor service we continue to receive without any resolution. I have receipts and still nothing.
I do my own tracking log. I checked the system. I check in weekly. Nothing works.

I picked up a glass jar with daffodil (buttercups damn it!) bulbs at Trader Joe’s on Sunday. I came in my office with a single buttercup bloomed. It made my day. It is probably my favorite flower just like it was my mom’s. I had no clue what color they would be. It appears the first is a yellow in yellow. It’s the one my grandparents had growing wild on the hillside of the farm. ❤️

You have to work with H. He was granted an extra employee in September. He held his first interview last week due to “glitches in the system.” HR is confused on how people who applied in September are no longer interested. 🤦🏻♀️

Mmmmm no. Buttercups are an entirely different flower. But daffodils are beautiful

My cousin was extremely confused when he moved to Texas. It’a definitely a #regional nickname for daffodils. The buttercup in Texas is more of a weed, right?

I'm really not sure. I just remember back home in Delaware growing up, we used to pick them (buttercups) and hold them under our chins and whether or not it reflected yellow in your chin was supposed to tell you...something? I don't remember and it sounds really weird now lol
ETA: Supposed to tell you if you like butter. So weird.

Wait… I feel like this has been a board discussion before.

Well, it did always reflect so maybe that was the point. Maybe the whole thing was started by Big Dairy lol

All of my vegetable seeds have gotten here, and I can't wait to start planting! I don't have to start most of my weeds until March, but there are a few things I can start in February, so I need to get my grow light setup going. I'm trying a few things for the first time, so I'm interested to see how they come out!
H’s friend and his wife, kids tested positive for Covid on Thursday and ent to a public event Saturday and out to eat for another family members birthday on Sunday. They were asymptotic so they said they didn’t need to stay home. I fvcking hate people like this.
I brought our old Buick over this morning to get evaluated to see what is wrong with it. It is $170 just to evaluate it, is that normal? That seems like a lot, but I wasn't really sure I was going to be able to drive it to another place without it completely breaking down, so I just said ok. Then it will be an additional $60 if they inspect the rest of the car, but I told them to hold off until we know what's wrong with the first issue. We are planning to sell it so I'm not willing to spend a whole lot to fix it - we will probably get 3k max from selling and maybe less.
What happens if we decide not to fix it...then what? I've never gotten rid of a junk car before. I know Carmax will take it for like $100 but I am not sure if I can "sell it for parts" somewhere for more. Is this something a shop would help facilitate?
ETA: I actually would rather just donate it than get $100 for it, but it's a 2003 so is that even something possible?

wildrice - I think it is normal to have a fee that is then credited toward any repairs. I'm not sure about selling a junked car. My only experience with that is my ex-husband selling his car to a literal junk shop when he was my boyfriend so I wasn't super involved. I would think the shop could give you some places to check with if it comes to that. But fingers crossed it isn't too much to repair!

Unfortunately, they are following the guidelines if they are vaccinated.
If they tested positive they can go out 2-3 days later? I thought it was 5 and then you can go out with a mask.

Thanks - maybe I misunderstood what he said about the fee, I thought it was on top of the repairs! But it would make sense if it credits toward them. I expected to be charged something if we don't end up fixing it, but that seems kind of high IMO. I thought it was mostly a matter of checking the electronic code, which sounds pretty simple.
I don't remember this fee from when I brought it to the same place for repairs last year (and actually did the repairs), so hopefully you are right!
DD2 is selling Girl Scout cookies. Last year we didn't really try too hard bc Covid. When the "rewards" came she was the only member of her troop to not get something in a white bag, she got a brown paper bag with the "thanks for participating" tchotchke. She was DEVASTATED. So this year our theme has been "No Brown Paper Bag". I am telling you, this is WORK. I have a spreadsheet and everything. It even has formulas
This is so random and JMB, but I get annoyed that I have to type in my city/state after I put in my zip code. Shouldn’t my zip code be sufficient?
I think they should have the correct city/state pop up according to your zip. I ALSO think that if you have to put in a zip or phone number, the numeric keypad should come up. So annoying

Ha, we are in the exact same situation. Last year other girls were getting bins full of stuff and she got... a pen.
This year she has already sold twice what she did last year, and it's only been 5 days. She is on a mission LOL. She set up a store in the corner of our family room for filling orders, and we had to make order forms to help organize all the orders.
It’s snowing and the boys have a delay for school. Delays are so annoying but they’re happy. My first two patients cancelled so right now I don’t need to be at work until 9:30. I wish we could just stay home and watch TV and bake.
My theme for 2022 is "just do it." I am the worst at procrastinating because I think I need to think things over and analyze a decision to death, and then I end up missing out on things that I wanted to do.
So in that spirit, I just booked a full day ice hike with my son in a few weeks. It is a 2.5 hour drive away and starts at 8:45 am, but I'm trying not to over think it. It looks amazing and we both are excited about it so we are just going to do it.

There is an episode of the cartoon Little Bear on this LOL. My kid LOVED Little Bear, I miss sweet shows like that.
