I am behind on our family albums with everything and not getting to do my normal weekends away with my mom where we would work on them. I guess I didn't realize how much my kid liked looking through them. She's been on me to finish 2020, so I've been working when I can to get it done. I'm to Christmas now and she's so excited to get to proof it for me before we send it off for printing.
I ordered some treats from amazon that were the same brand of ones I got in store. First, they sent them in an envelope, so half broke (I got a refund). They are like cardboard and crumble so badly. Thankfully my dog doesn't GAF.
I dunno, wet randoms gross me out more than damp 😆
Today is NINETEEN years since DH and I started dating, literally half our lives together. Good lord we were babies. Next year is 20 years together, 15 married, and we turn 40. I feel like we should have a big party for all of those milestones.
DD and her friend made really delicious giant chocolate chip cookies yesterday, and I really wish I had brought one to work for breakfast.
We live in a townhouse. Our neighbors have roofers over today working on the roof (replacing it?). A ton of shingles and roof stuff fell onto our deck and in our yard, it's a mess. Is that normal? I am really irritated about it, not at the neighbors of course but at the roofers. I feel like they should have been more careful? I'm not talking a few errant pieces that got away from them, it was like raining pieces of roof for a few minutes. They knocked down our string lights and I hope they aren't broken. I'm going to check later but when I first noticed, I didn't feel like it was safe to go out there or else I might get hit! IDK if they are going to come by later and clean it up, they will have to go through our house to reach our deck so I am guessing not?
I bought a milk frother and used it to make a salted caramel latte this morning. I think it's good, though I probably will use a little more caramel syrup next time. It gets really frothy!
update: They are now in our backyard picking up pieces. Did they ask if that was ok with us? No. But of course it is so I'm letting that go, but I know a lot of people would not be ok with people entering their property without permission....
Still not sure what the plan is for the deck, which is a much bigger mess. The deck protected the yard from getting the worst of it.
Update #2 - now they have a ladder on our deck and are climbing onto it. LOL WTF? This does not seem normal.
The kids have the day off for Lunar New Year (happy year of the Tiger!) but I’m unmotivated to do anything and it’s too cold to go sledding. I sent the dog to daycare today because she has been refusing to walk since the blizzard Saturday and she needs some exercise - hopefully playing with other dogs helps!
We are expecting a winter storm starting tonight through Thursday. People started closing things Monday, as in a bakery I had an order for on Thursday was like, we're closing Wed.- Thurs. Literally nothing has happened yet. This isn't Maine, it's Missouri. It might not even snow. And in fact, I'm calling it right now, it probably will be 2 inches. It hasn't really snowed much lately so IDK if that's why people are losing their minds or what but the sun is out and it is almost 50 degrees at the moment.

I thought today was groundhog day and I woke up saying, "that bastard rodent better not see his shadow today"! But since it is actually tomorrow, I will be saying it again tomorrow morning. Which, I find hilarious.
wildrice I don't know if it's normal, but that stinks. Make sure that they go over your outside area with a big magnet, to pick up any nails that may have fallen.
We put our house on the market in 8 days! 😬 We are moving again. The housing market is insane here and in the location we’re moving to. I foresee my current house selling in days and me living under a bridge in the new city bc we can’t find a house.
wildrice - I'm glad they're cleaning it up, but wtf to coming into your yard and ONTO YOUR DECK without permission? What if you had an aggressive dog or liked to hang out by the window naked? They should have knocked on the door and been like, we're so sorry, we made a mess, is it ok if we go in now and clean it up?

Right? I actually do work right by our backyard door so at one point they were like 8 feet away from me. What if I was doing something weird? I was just doing a workout down here 1.5 hours ago.
They had to climb over the deck railing to get onto it so I'm laughing because that's bizarre, but also sounds like a good way to have someone get hurt or break something.
We are expecting a snowstorm this week, its likely DS will be home Wed and Thurs and Fri is a teacher workday. He was quarantined last week for Covid. Im not happy. He is LOUD and its hard to work.
Also there is a new guy in charge of the department of a government agency I work with, he is annoying and he is making me change 500 forms I submitted to add "LLC" on the company name even though they've been approving the forms for 2 years for this company without the LLC on it. The website to do this has crashed (again). So this week is going to be great.
I am so happy. I had bought a Groupon for 3 massages with a local woman, and they were really great! But her regular price was too high for my budget ($90) so I figured I wouldn't be going to her after that. My H and I had also been talking about getting monthly massages for us both since we've both been complaining about pain and headaches, so I was thinking of going to Massage Envy because I know they are more affordable and my parents have had good luck with their membership.
I got an email this morning from the Groupon woman that she is now going to be offering memberships! And they are comparable to Massage Envy. I'd much rather go to a local business anyway, and she does a great job. So this is perfect timing.
I have spoiled my cat so much that I moved a chair next to my desk so that the space heater is pointing directly at both me and her. She'll give me the stink eye if I turn it off.

I think the roofing thing is just what happens when you live in a townhouse community.
They drop the pieces, they pick them up, they use the magnet to get everything up. They want to get done quickly and move on to the next job.
If you had to get your neighbor's permission to work on your own roof, what if they said no? Or you had to pay extra for the roofers to hand carry pieces down a ladder.

She never said her neighbors should have asked to have work done?

I'm saying what if a neighbor said, I do not consent to roof pieces falling on my lawn - I instead want the roofers to hand carry them down so no pieces fall on my lawn and no roofers walk into my yard. Then the homeowner would be have to pay for the time of hand carrying pieces instead of dropping them down.
When you live in a housing arrangement with shared roofs, this kind of thing will happen every 10 years or so.
I am the PTA President at DD's school and a mom has messaged me on my personal FB page multiple times because she can't figure out how to order a yearbook, then wants to know the deadlines, etc. Literally every bit of info is clearly organized on the page, which she couldn't find on our website despite having both a Yearbook tab across the top and a "Quick Links" prominently displayed on the webpage.

Our snow predictions for tonight through Thursday have bumped to solidly 12-18 inches. Before it was just like, “Maybe. Worst case scenario.”
Now our worst case is 2 feet.
Nothing is closing preemptively and I’m like uhhhhhh. Maybe you should? My fear is that everyone is going to go to work or whatever tomorrow morning because there will only be 5 inches on the ground, and then the dumping/blowing of snow begins.

I would expect the debris to be dropped in my yard, I would not expect workers to climb railings or fences to get access to my yard, and I would not be okay with putting ladders up against my house for access unless I was notified first.

Well, that was my question - I've never lived in a townhouse before so IDK what is normal. I've also never replaced a roof before.
I do think they could have made more of a point of throwing them into the yard of the person who is having work done. If some blew into our yard, so be it, but I was watching and no effort at all was being made to direct them away from our house. I am less irritated about this now that I know they cleaned them up, but when it happened I had no idea what their plan was since nobody has talked to us. I was worried we were going to be expected to clean it up ourselves, which would have been fine but irritating, especially with no warning.

wildrice, they just replaced the roof on the buildings in my complex and I'd say the mess of dropping old tiles/material wherever it falls is normal for a townhouse/condo/apt complex. The mess they made last week when tearing off the old material was enormous! But then, before they started hammering in the new stuff, they picked up all the old.
I'm a little WTF to them climbing over the railing to your roof, but also if that's how they have to access the neighbors, then I guess? Still weird and I'd be unhappy, haha.

I am sure there are times where someone has a locked gate, and they can't leave the mess behind. So they just go clean it up and move on. As long as I'm not cleaning it up personally, all good with me.

The organization I interviewed with last week emailed me and scheduled a call for 1:30 this afternoon. Surely they wouldn't be calling except to make an offer, right? My anxiety is in overdrive and I'm struggling. Only 3 1/2 hours to go.
I'm expecting a big snow storm here too. 7-12 inches last I looked. I went ahead and cancelled my plans to leave town on Thursday morning. I'm so tired of cancelling plans due to weather and covid.
