Can someone please shed some light on why belayage is so much more expensive than a full foil? It takes the same amount of product and time. It's annoying because I don't want foils now that I've discovered the magic of belayage. But my god I never thought I'd be someone who walks around with $365 hair. :::Faints:::
haha I almost asked my stylist about this last Saturday. I was getting foils and noticed she was brushing the lightener on very carefully and thought to myself, "How is balayage any different except for not putting foil on?"
But I think you have your answer. It must somehow be better since you won't go back to foils. Maybe I should switch...
ETA: Looking at this link, I think my stylist does the "foilyage" technique because she does seem to carefully paint the sections she's putting in foil, they're not just coated top to bottom: saltsocietyeducation.com/blogs/news/balayage-vs-foil

After their last price increase I went back to foils and then today I was like "let's do balayage" and she must have remembered my horror at the price because she was like "do you want me to go through pricing before we start" and I was just like "no. and at the end just take my credit card and run it. let's not discuss further". LOL

Who am I!?!?
LOL I have been paying a premium for hair stuff for as long as I can remember. And the few times I didn't, I paid for it in other ways. So it's just one thing I'm precious about now. I don't buy expensive shoes or bags or makeup so I splurge on this. (I mean, if we had the money I would buy those things so no judgment to anyone who splurges on all of it!)
Today is my Friday and I am very much looking forward to my days off tomorrow and Friday. Lots to get done today! I need to get out of bed for a meeting, but I’m struggling.
DS1 slept through the night. Fingers crossed we’re on the other side of this!!
I really, really loved Station Eleven. It was so well done that I forgive all deviations from the book (which I don’t remember super well anyway). Bravo to HBO on that one.
I'm watching Kids Baking Championship and one of the contestants has the baking skills and demeanor of an 80 year old grandma. I adore her and can't believe she is only 9. I will be so sad if she doesn't win.

I know exactly who you're talking about LOL. She is my favorite!!! This season has had some really fun kids!
My DS has never wanted a birthday party before because he says that no one will come. He agreed to have one in 2020 and then of coarse we couldn’t. He brought invitations to school today and he says that he thinks it’s dumb because no one will come for his party. He’s shy and has anxiety issues so I will seriously cry if only 1-2 kids come.
Today is our 5th wedding anniversary! In some ways it feels like it went really fast, but also we've lived a lot of life since then - we moved across the country, we've each started 3 new jobs, there was a global pandemic, we've been on several big trips, adopted a cat, bought a house, bought a car, etc...
We are going out to dinner tonight - at Le Diplomate, for those who are in the DC area. Please don't tell me it's not good, we haven't been there before and I'm excited to check it out! It's a little far for dinner on a Wednesday, but since we stupidly got married 5 days before Valentine's day, it's always hard to get a reservation anywhere decent on the weekend.
I'm heading out to a locally owned berry patch later this morning to order a valentine treat for H and DS and buy their delicious homemade jam. This afternoon I'm attending a parenting class put on by an ASD Specialist who works for my DS' school district.
After years of paying for Super Cuts haircuts I have no qualms whatsoever about splurging on balayage (which I did this past Oct). When I go for my next haircut next week I plan to ask about getting rainbow colored balayage at my following appt.
After dropping off the kids, I spent five minutes unable to get in the house because a baby raccoon was hanging out by the front door and did not want to leave. Not at all aggressive, just chilling. He was not at all phased by my shouting or the fact that I had a dog with me (to be fair, the dog didn't bark at all and just whined).
It was adorable, but I'm not really enthusiastic about having it hang around like that.

I’m jealous you live some place where berries are in season! That sounds fun!
I am picking up pizza and going to my dad’s to go over his taxes today! I don’t even do my own taxes but his should be pretty easy. At least I get pizza.
I applied for a job with the professional organization I belong to. It was a Facebook post and I sent in a really bare bones resume and cover letter but they want an interview. My guess is no one is applying for it? I didn’t even see it posted on the site or in the newsletter. Anyway, it’s just a part time remote job that sounds very low key.
I am secretly hoping if I get it, they will at least pay the fees for me to attend the conference. It’s actually close enough to drive to this year so I was debating about going. I have some work I want to sell and the conference is a good way to do that. It’s kind of pricey though and I couldn’t justify going last year between the fees, hotel, the pandemic and needing to pay for a rental car and airline tickets.
In need of a little advice. DS2 is in 7th grade. I'm trying to rewire my instincts with him in regards to self advocacy. My oldest had selective mutism at his age still and I had to help with advocacy for him for so long that my instincts are betraying me. lol
Anyway, DS2 report card was posted yesterday. There was an incomplete on his report card for social studies. I have never seen this on a report card before. The comment says missing work from absence (he had covid a couple weeks ago). I asked DS about this and he says he had all of his work in and even got a grade back on everything. I asked him to touch base with his teacher today and find out what is happening.
Now, do I also email teacher or just let DS handle this? I am wondering specifically if this is fixable since it was posted and also will that keep him off honor roll?
For what its worth, the teacher is a brand new dad (baby is maybe 2 months old) so understandable if there is an error of a missed grade. Or my DS did in fact neglect an assignment. He is 12 but he is pretty diligent with his work. I remember him getting in my car a week ago and telling me all of his work was caught up in all classes. He specifically mentioned doing work in that class.
I hate having a nervous stomach. First I was nervous about the job interviews and now I'm nervous about whether or not I'm going to get an offer and my stomach is a wreck. Luckily I had already planned on making soup for dinner so I should at least be able to eat that.
I have a wireless charger that I bought for my desk back in the beginning of the pandemic that has a place to charge my phone and my watch, except the watch portion doesn't seem to be working any more. So I guess I need to replace that. I swear, I spend more money on ways to charge my phone and watch than I did on my actual phone and watch.
Third straight day in the office, really looking forward to WFH the rest of the week. It's not bad actually being here, I'm just tired of waking up earlier, getting office-ready, moving kids along on a tighter schedule, and the commute. Three days a week is definitely my limit!
DH is OOT again (and will be most of the month) and I'm excited to have the bed and all the pillows to myself, lol.
I think an incomplete on a report card is a parent call issue. Maybe he can handle it but as a former teacher for that age, I would have expected the parents to call and would call you myself after talking to him.
I’d have him handle everyday stuff like assignments, permission slips, school activities or extra credit not report cards. But I am not a parent!
ETA: If it is an error, it is totally fixable and he would be back on the honor roll.
I feel like I could sleep for days. Monday we went to H's hometown to attend a funeral yesterday. We stayed with his brother and while I'm thankful for the hospitality, I'm getting too old to sleep on shitty mattresses. The bed is awful. It was also so cold in the house. I'm typically a hot sleeper and turn the heat down to 62 at night and sleep in lightweight pj pants and a tank, no socks. It was so cold I ended up sleeping in my leggings, a long sleeve tshirt and H's hoodie with my warm slipper socks. I also slept curled up with H and I'm typically one to not want to be touched while sleeping. My nose was cold when I woke up. I don't know if the windows are just not insulated well or what. Then last night I was so exhausted and excited to sleep in my own bed so I went to bed early (like 9:30) and couldn't fall asleep. I tossed and turned until about 11 and finally got up and went out to the living room and watched tv for 30 minutes. Started feeling like I was going to doze on the couch, so I went back into bed and of course, H was snoring.

Berries aren't in season here. They sell desserts and jams made from frozen berries from their last season crops. I wish berries were in season!
Has anyone flown first class/business class lately? I'm getting a good bonus this year and planning on taking my kids to CA (from CT). I was thinking as a treat to fly first class to be more comfortable but can't decide if the price is worth it. I found some reasonable prices but they were on flights with a stop, which kind of made me thing maybe the first class was only on one leg? IDK I don't fly enough to know about this.

This is my schedule too. Monday-Wednesday. By Wednesday, I'm like, yep, that's enough of that! I do enjoy coming in and feeling somewhat human by getting dressed, getting out of the house, etc but PLEASE don't make me do it 5 days a week ever again!
icedcoffee, re: your post from yesterday. You definitely need two beagles. We had two for several years and it was awesome. One was the chill, older lady while the other was the younger, hyper one. They even each other out. Missing them both now (

How big are the planes? I've only flown first class on short flights on smaller planes and didn't think it was worth it.

Depending on where you are going in CA and if you plan to fly from NY vs Hartford I would go for the mint seats on JetBlue. I LOVE them, full lay down seats and I think worth the price. NY to LAX and SFO has the mint option and it is direct.

Thanks!
Flying into LAX, debating BDL vs JFK. The only direct flight from BDL is JetBlue but it looks like Mint isn't available on that flight. So probably looking at JFK. The most I've done is the Even More Space seats on JetBlue lol.

I usually break it up into Tu/W and F, I don't have the endurance for three days in a row 😂
