I usually hate Amazon clothes, but this short sleeved sweater is actually very cute and hasn’t fallen apart. I have the light blue and just ordered the pink. I went with my larger size and it fits perfectly. The puff sleeves aren’t outrageous and it looks good if you are on zoom calls all day.
I am like a kid in a candy store when it comes to Reels/Insta ads Two I have been really happy with:
Il Makiage foundation. The automated color match was incredibly accurate - better than I've gotten from in person matches. The product is nice too. I really like it. They changed the formula on my Renergie Lift and I haven't been as happy. I've tried so many alternatives with poor results.
I have been hesitant to try their concealer but their ads make me want to! I always wonder if anyone I know uses them and if it is as good as the ads.
Have you happened to try their concealer or just foundation?
I have their concealer and their foundation. I think the concealer is meh. It's really thin and blends well but I don't feel like it actually covers very well. My dark circles are still visible. I use Too Faced Born This Way concealer instead. The Il Makiage is now in my travel bag.
The foundation is kind of heavy to me so it's a special occasion foundation now when I want heavier coverage.
Also highly recommend the Nivea in shower lotion. My skin is always itchy because it’s so dry here, yet I am terrible about putting on lotion after I shower. I bought this and just slather myself up after I wash my body. For some reason this extra step doesn’t feel as onerous in the shower as it does after I get out. Anyway, my skin is soft and not itchy anymore.
I was coming in here to post the same rec. I was skeptical that it would work, since you rinse it off. But I love it. I'm so lazy about putting on body lotion and tend to only remember after I've shaved my legs... which in the winter isn't all that often LOL.
Hahaha you are me. I basically only put on lotion after shaving, which is… rare in the winter.
I’m really impressed with it. Plus you don’t have to stand around naked and wait for it to soak in with this stuff.

Luciana bras. Ordered on a whim - holy moly. Comfortable, no uni-boob, pretty. I don't love that the straps are unfinished- I feel like they may fray, but so far they've washed well for two months.
Since I bitched about Shape Tape, I bought a tube of the Anastasia Concealer this week and have been really happy with it. The color range is pretty impressive, and I was able to find a color that matched my skin perfectly- I'm pretty fair with a peachy undertone-so often what I find is either too yellow, too pink or too beige. It doesn't take much product to cover and it behaves nicely through the day. The tube is oversized compared to other lines at this price point- looking at you Shape Tape and NARS.
The girl at Ulta (I hate my local Ulta) suggested Too Faced @pooh8412 but this store doesn't carry it. What do you like about it?
Speaking of bags, any recs for a backpack that could pack enough stuff for 10ish days of travel? We are not heavy packers but don't want to do laundry on the road and would need clean shirt/underwear each day (I'm fine with reusing pants) and maybe an extra pair of shoes. We destroyed our suitcase in Italy when we were there 2 years ago by dragging it everywhere and I would love to pack 2 smaller backpacks instead of the 1 big suitcase we normally do for our next trip. I think I'm ok with it being bigger than a carry-on size but I don't necessarily want a giant backpack like the kind you'd take camping in the wilderness with a bunch of supplies.

I like that it actually covers my dark circles and blends out well, lots of colors (I have 2, my winter color and my summer color), and is also oversized. One tube lasts me over a year and I use concealer under my eyes every day that I am not sick.
Shape Tape does not cover at all. Way too thin for me.
I will forever and ever recommend having at least one toilet with a washlet or bidet. I got into this after DS was born (better and easier than a peri bottle) but during COVID we ended up with one on almost every toilet in the house and I will not go back. The one in our master is heated. DH and DS aren't fans but whatever. My parts are clean.
rubytue, and others I'm about the same size and have no problem bringing 7-10 days of clothes in the eBags backpack. I even had clothes plus a sleeping bag in there for a hut to hut trip. The capacity is bigger than my outdoor backpacking/camping backpack.
The key for me is 1) Pack however many T's and underwear you need, unless there will be an easy place to do laundry. These are small. 2) Bring layers, I usually have 2 thin wool sweaters I can wear on top, one lighter one darker for variety. Then one warm jacket or fleece that I wear on the plane. 3)For pants, ponte pants or other "slacks" types of pants pack so much smaller than jeans. Look for thinner materials. 4) I use merino socks and can easily get 2-3 wears out of them, if I'm going somewhere wet I'll pack more pairs of small thin socks. 5) If I'm doing a work trip instead of a personal trip, I'll pack one extra sweater so it's less obvious I'm rotating, my work trips are more like 5 days so space isn't a problem.

One option might be one of the Osprey Fairview backpacks. Ive been wanting one after a friend got hers and has found it super useful for travel (in fact, she’s a tour director). I know REI carries them.
ETA: I also really like the Patagonia black hole duffels.
I bought an Oura Ring before Christmas and I really like it. I love the sleep tracking, and in love that it has helped me find balance between activity and recovery. For example, this morning I’m feeling slightly run down, and my ring said that my heart rate recovered late last night without the level or heart rate variation I usually have, so I should focus on rest and recovery today. It’s crazy that I need a piece of tech to give myself permission to rest, but honestly it’s nice to have the data to validate how I feel instead of just assuming that I’m lazy.
DH just bought one. He’s really data driven, so based on what you’re describing I have a feeling he’ll really like it.
I’m considering selling my Apple Watch. I hate that it doesn’t factor in rest days so even if you work out six days in a row, it’s still like “you can do this!” Fucking no, Apple Watch. It doesn’t really provide actual balance. I don’t find it motivating to wear it most of the time.
My SIL works there so I’ve had one for several years. I love it and am so grateful it diagnosed my sleep disorder . They are also doing some really cool things in woman’s health tracking.

They just rolled out period tracking! I don’t get periods, so I don’t use this feature. But I imagine it might also be used for fertility tracking in the future (taking temperature immediately at wake-up in order to detect ovulation). Though I imagine there are hurdles to advertising something using the phrase “fertility” in a way that might not apply to “period tracking.”
Does anyone use a face tanner that they recommend? I religiously use sunscreen on my face so it is real white. I've seen Isle of Paradise recommended a lot on Instagram but only from influencer type people so it makes me weary.
I guess I'll rec my sunscreen while I'm here since it's works so well. I've used Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence for years. I keep trying new ones but always come back to it. And it really works my face is lighter then my body since I don't sunscreen my whole body everyday like I do my face lol.
Shark steam mop with spinning heads. I had the regular rectangular pad version and this one is so much better. It’s super easy, and for some reason my kids think it’s really fun to use so they always ask to mop when I get it out 😁

I like St. Tropez foam. I use it with the little glove. I have very fair skin so only really like a glow and this is perfect. If you use it on your body, I highly recommend using the glove. It goes on so much smoother and even.

The clothes thread got me looking for high waist dark wash jeans. I’ve been wearing Old Navy jeans because they fit me well, but only last a season or so before fading. So, any recs for a high quality version?
okla Ooh! That may be perfect as a starter bag, since I'm also struggling to stomach the price of the Tumi one (which is the one I really like!). I'll have to check this out in store the next time I go do Target.
When I was looking for the link to this one, I noticed that the same brand has a bigger one with more pockets, etc in the same color for $80. I may grab that because it really is a great bag.

My recent jeans extravaganza resulted in Madewell and Gap! I can’t speak for their longevity, but they feel more durable than the old navy jeans I’ve had. Other brands that felt good quality-wise were J Crew and Everlane, but their fits were very bad on me.
I am looking for a new slow cooker after mine finally bit the dust. I do NOT have an IP or rice cooker. Should I get a IP/slow cooker combo? I'm so overwhelmed by all the options. I know IPs have been very popular but I've never used one. Any tips/links are appreciated.

I used this years ago and then stopped and kept meaning to go back to it because it really has been a favorite. Can you share where you order from? The last one I ordered I think was a knock-off and awful. ☹️

I have the eBags Motherlode Jr and have mixed feelings about it. It's a kind of amazing bag in some ways- I like that the main compartment opens like a suitcase. I use slim packing cubes in it and it fits as much as my regular wheeled carryon plus I can fit my laptop, water bottle, and stuff like snacks, wallet, and a book in there and still somehow can fit the bag under the seat on an airplane.
But the straps suck. There's no weight distribution and it gets pretty uncomfortable pretty quickly. It's not a bag I'd want to have to haul around all day.
Can someone explain to me like I'm five about using a laundry service? It seems like such a convenience, but I'm pretty sensitive to laundry detergents, and if they are anything other than perfume and dye free I have a tendency to break out in hives and/or get a migraine.
I'm generally OK with hotels sheets and towels, but I suspect those are treated pretty brutally with hot water and bleach (which probably requires and extra rinse). I spent a rather miserable few days in Ireland with hives because of an allergic reaction to the detergent our friend used. (Things got better when I bought my own detergent and re-washed some stuff.)
I can't speak for internationally, but I used to send my laundry out before I moved into a place with in unit laundry. My service used free and clear detergent (or you could provide your own) and I never had any issues with it bothering my sensitive skin.
eb777888 thank you! Do you need a glove if you're just tanning your face? Does it fade evenly with washing your face and all?
Omg also which one? I just looked on Sephora and there's so many options. Gel, lotion, face serum, mousse...
I just double checked what I have and it's the mousse, sorry, not foam. I tan my body and face so when I bought the gloves, it came with a large one for body, and a finger glove for face. I've never done without the glove, but I'm sure it would be fine. Also, when I apply, I just brush it on where the sun naturally hits, like I'm applying bronzer. It looks much more natural.
Could anyone recommend a lightweight yet moisturizing daytime moisturizer? I've loved Origins GinZing gel moisturizer in the past. I used a couple different ones last year but didn't love them (usually they feel too heavy). But the tub I have now that I just got a couple weeks ago is pilling so bad. I don't know if I got a bad batch or if they changed the formula, but it didn't do that before.
Does anyone have an recommendations for less than $40? Thanks!

I like belif aqua bomb. It’s a gel. I use it in summer (need more in winter) but it doesn’t make my oily-in-summer face feel greasy.
