If you order pizza for dinner often, do you serve anything with it (to your kids) regularly, or is it just pizza?
Settle an argument between dh and me.
My kids are not the best eaters. They also aren't the worst, but at this point they get a fruit with lunch, and a fruit and vegetable with dinner, and most of everything else they eat is junk.
So when we order pizza for dinner, I still throw a fruit and vegetable on their plate and expect them to eat it. If dh happens to be in charge of dinner and orders pizza, he doesn't want to put the 'effort' of adding anything else to the plates. I get that we order pizza because life is busy and it's easy, but I think it's worth the very minimal effort it takes to keep the routine of a fruit and veg too.
I always add a veggie. Usually something easy like baby carrots or frozen peas. But H and I will just eat the pizza with no side, so we’re kind of hypocrites. 😂
Nope. We order pizza when I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to prepare actual food. One meal without veggies won’t kill him. I mean, H and I don’t put a veggie on our plates on pizza night either (we’ve come to the conclusion that pizza-place salads are nasty, so we don’t order those anymore). We just make up for it with extra veggies at another meal.

We always do pizza and salad, of which my kid will eat both. H sometimes also throws a fruit of some sort on the plate (or on the pizza--pineapple, of course).
No side for the kid, usually no side for us but sometimes salad but kid won't eat salad. She eats fruit a lot during the day so I don't worry about pizza.
Kind of a spin off question: I always have Coke with pizza. I don’t drink soda otherwise very often, but it just goes with pizza to me! DD1 who is a almost 7 has started asking to have it too. Should I give it to her? Somehow she feels too young for soda but I feel bad saying no. What age did you start letting kids have soda?

I would worry about the caffeine content, for me. Can she have her own white soda, or orange?
Where we order from we get salad, wings, garlic knots, and pizza. DD eats all of it. She has meals where she doesn’t get a fruit or veggie though. Like every Tuesday is generally CFA on the way home from tennis. No veggie, no care. She’s generally a kid that balances meals well herself though so it’s just not something I’ve ever worried about.

We do pizza Friday nights. Because we’re DONE. I’ll give the kids an applesauce pouch and call it good. Maybe some baby carrots and a squirt of ranch dressing. But Fridays are convenience night. We’ll also eat on paper plates sometimes… it’s almost like we didn’t even touch the kitchen. Makes Saturday morning more enjoyable too.

I think around 9 we started letting her have soda. She doesn’t really like coke but she loves an occasional root beer. I think at 7 I’d say no to coke but let her try sprite.

If I order pizza, we just have pizza. It not all that often and DD gets plenty of fruit most days. noodleoo, I'd let her have a soda with the pizza at almost 7, we always had soda with pizza as a treat growing up. Soda once in a while is a fun treat and it really does go well with pizza! My DD doesn't like soda, but I let her try it around 5-6ish.

I'll get sprite for ds (7.5) occasionally, but fuuuuuuck no am I giving this child (who can neither sit still nor refrain from making random unnecessary noises) caffeine. If he were a calm child I'd probably be fine with it as a rare treat but nope on a rope.

I am your H and don't serve anything else. My H is like you and will throw out some fruit or frozen veggies. He nags me a little about it, but I ignore him lol.

For me it depends on frequency of pizza eating. If not often, I’d be ok with my kids having soda w pizza (as it is, they only have it now at parties). But I agree that I’d do something without caffeine. Either caffeine free coke or sprite or a caffeine free root beer (one of the major brands is, I always have to double check which)

Not normally. I try to live by the 80/20 rule with the kids. With 21 meals a week as long as I present a pretty balanced plate 16 or 17 times I consider it all fine. (Note: I say PRESENT- not necessarily what they actually eat).
And no, the only thing that goes with pizza is if we also order wings or cheesy bread.
We don't have like a weekly pizza night so this is not something I sweat. Moderation in my mind should also apply to splurges with no redeeming qualities, lol.
We do Friday night pizza night and that’s all they get. Then they get it for lunch on Saturday. And sometimes lunch on Sunday depending on what’s still leftover! Lol. When they were toddlers I always added a veggie/fruit on the side, but they’re older and actually pretty good eaters so l don’t bother. I also like to think back on the fact that I’m not sure I ate any vegetables at all growing up to remind myself that I’m doing just fine. Haha
