My boys and I are flying into Boston from CA, and I've decided to spend a couple of days around the city before heading home. I don't really want to drive in Boston (I will have my car), so I'm looking for a hotel with parking, near a T station. We are looking to do the Freedom Trail, science museum, maybe Quincy market.
Any recs? Bonus points if it has a pool.
Also I completely suck at navigating subways. Is the T difficult to understand where you are going?

I personally think that you can walk almost all of Boston if you are motivated enough, LOL. However, we often stay at the Marriott Long Wharf, or a hotel in that area. It is adjacent to Quincy Market/North Station/North End, and you can easily walk to the Museum of Science in one direction and the Freedom Trail in another. The Common is just a few blocks away. The T is fine, the Green Line is maybe a little trickier because depending on how far down you are going you may need to choose different trains, but otherwise it is pretty easy. My second choice for staying in the city is down near the Prudential center- can easily walk to Fenway, Newbury Street restaurants and shopping, etc. If we are going in for a concert or a game, we stay over there. The reason I put the Marriott higher on the list it is next door to the Aquarium, has lovely views of the water and has an indoor pool which has an outdoor deck with views of the wharf if you have boys who like to swim.
We stayed at The Colonnade Hotel when we were there a couple years ago. It was really nice. Had a roof top pool and had a metro station right out the front door.
We didn’t have a car so I can’t speak to parking but otherwise I would recommend.
The T is extremely easy to navigate so I wouldn’t worry at all about that. Also Boston is extraordinarily walkable and smaller than you think , particularly the majority of the tourist/historic areas, so you may likely not even need the T. If you do the Freedom Trail walk (self guided, you follow a red line on the sidewalk) you hit all the historic sites easily (the last 2 - Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution - are the only long walk, but worth it IMO)
The collonade has a pool, I think the 4 Seasons as well? If you park at a hotel in the city just be prepared for it he expense. Parking is ridiculous here.
Boston Harbor Hotel is a good base for those things. The pool is really nice. The owners are family friends and delightful people who donate a ton back to the community.
For Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market and Freedom Trail, I second the Marriott Long Wharf or Boston Harbor Hotel. The Intercontinental is right there as well, and it's really nice. I'm not sure about the pool situation for any of them though.
I think that the Langham is open again, and it was just completely redone. I believe there is a pool there. It's very close to everything as well.
We just stayed at the Residence Inn Back Bay/Fenway and it’s a great hotel. We loved it. Free breakfast every day, pool, rooftop bar, walkable to some good restaurants. I did see the parking was like $55 a day though 😳

Ooh free breakfast! I'll check it out, thanks!
It was actually good too. Breakfast sandwiches, sausage, eggs and stuff to make breakfast burritos, muffins, bread, and bagels, cereal, fruit etc. Oh and cold brew coffee on tap! I was excited by this lol.
