The housing situation here is dire. So dire that I see Estate Sale signs and my first thought is “hmmm…that house should be coming on the market soon!” I am going to hell
I actually went to an estate sale, just to shop, while we happened to also be house-hunting. I loved the house and talked to my agent about it and she said it was totally normal to try to buy before an estate home hits the market. She did some digging and found the son of the person who had owned the home (who recently passed) happened to also be a real estate agent so she contacted him directly. It didn’t work out, but she said that it can sometimes be a great solution for both sides - the family doesn’t have to deal with prepping to sell and the buyer gets what they want. So I don’t think you’re going to hell 😊

There's a line in "When Harry Meets Sally" that's similar. You're not alone. lol
I will start by saying I love my FI, he’s amazing. So are his parents. We’re getting married in June. According to the wedding industrial complex, we’re technically “behind.” We got dinner with his parents tonight (who are also lively), and while discussing the things we have left to do (send out formal invitations, lock down florist, follow up with people) he said jokingly “yeah we’re way behind/kind of a shit show.”
IF YOU FEEL THAT WAY THEN FUCKING TAKE CHARGE OF SOMETHING! Any number of things. Take the paper to the printer to print the invitations of the template we made and agreed upon 3 weeks ago. Don’t make jokes about how we’re behind and then just let me deal with it.
Sorry. This is a one off. And I rationally shared that with him and he apologized. But Jesus Christ. I’m already drowning. Pick up a goddamn oar. (I promise he’s great. Just bad at jokes and I’m sensitive right now.)
I’m in San Diego for a work conference. DS1 has had an intestinal “bug” for 6 days now that has not yet resolved. And H just tested positive for Covid. I’m flying home tomorrow and H was supposed to fly to a England tomorrow.. But now he can’t go. It was for his mother’s funeral. During the pandemic he lost his grandmother and his father and could do travel to their funerals due to covid restrictions. Now, he has Covid himself and cannot attend his own mother’s funeral. I’m so heartbroken for him.
I’m thinking of your family and am so sorry; that’s awful. I hope you get home safely, your son gets better soon, and your husband has a quick course of it. Maybe you can do your own mini funeral for his mom yourselves. We did that for my husband’s uncle when he died since circumstances prevented my MIL and us from showing up at his publicized funeral. Shared memories, some words/poems, songs, slideshow, had food. I think my MIL may have even printed a program to give some structure to the occasion. Maybe you do an activity your MIL loved or make a donation to a charity that was important to her. We still felt we honored my husband’s uncle’s life even though we weren’t “there.”
For like a month, I've had what I think (?) might be tennis elbow. I have like no real grip strength in my hand, have to brace myself to pick things up with that hand and I have sharp pain traveling up my forearm to my elbow and into the bicep whenever I pick something up.
And instead of doing anything about it, I'm discussing it on the internet.
You don’t knit, do you? I work out regularly and never have a problem, yet interestingly, when I took up a knitting class, I got tennis elbow in both arms. Stopped taking the class and it went away shortly thereafter. Sometimes small movements like that can really affect the muscles in your arms.

I do! But I haven't done it for about a year. I also have to do repeated small movements with my hands all day at work. I definitely need to see a doctor.
I’m on vacation and I lost my wallet (ID, health ins card, 3 credit cards, etc)!!
Anyone ever had to fly home without ID? I do have a photo of it and my SSN card (and I’m with my family so hoping they will vouch for me ha). What a freaking pain. Also have another hotel to check into but I think my DHs name is also on that reservation.
I have an expired passport at home I could have someone mail me but I don’t think that would work?

I bet that’s it. Not sure how you stop doing that though if you have to do the movements for work. You prob do need a doctor. Boo lol

This happened to a coworker of mine and it was quite a pain. I wouod call TSA now so you can start dealing with it. She ended up having to get the dept of Ed in the state she lived in to fax someone in the tsa her teaching credentials and one other thing I forget what. It’s not as easy as just showing them a pic on your phone.

Ugh the internet is telling me otherwise!! Like I’ll get pulled aside for an interview but as long as I have some supporting documentation and I’m with the other members of my party, it’s a pain but fine??

I just looked at the Easter basket thread on MMMoms, this may be an unpopular opinion, not a vent, but when did Easter become the 2nd Christmas? My daughter is 23. I don't remember getting her so much stuff for...Easter.
Easter is a good gift giving holiday for someone with a fall or winter birthday so they can get summer gifts. My DDs birthday is usually a 2 or 3 weeks after Easter every year and we usually do a combo gift. I like giving presents 🤷♀️
We filled out virtual birthday cards for 2 people on our team at work. My note included "enjoy your day!" When it was sent out, it was changed to "enjoy you're day". Mine wasn't the only one changed either. Of course my sentiment was signed with my name so it looks like I wrote it that way when I didn't! I wouldn't care if the person in charge of it just spelled it wrong on her own note, it happens. But to change everyone else's and not consider maybe you're the one spelling it wrong? Like.. what? Why?

Caveat I haven't seen the other thread
People vent every year on here about how over the top the Easter baskets are and how it’s become “2nd Christmas.” It’s so dumb. Just live and let live. And honestly, we got waaaay more stuff in our TWO baskets each when we were kids (my mom is a total gifts live lanaguage person) so this is not new, not unique to our generation or to this board.
My small vent, which is no fault but my own, is we were putting together the swing set yesterday, which is an early Easter and birthday gift, and forgot to use sunscreen. I didn't think about it cause it's April which is dumb because you can get burnt anytime but omg we are burnt to a crisp. Ow.
My vent is that my H was being judgy yesterday about my DS (5) not having much appropriate clothing to wear for a funeral we had to go to. He kept saying "we really need to get him some nicer clothes" but by "we" he definitely meant "me." Sorry, I don't have funeral clothes laying around for a 5 year old who grows out of shit regularly. I used to have a few nicer things for him for when we'd go to church on holidays or whatever but that was pre Covid. On that note, anyone have suggestions on where I can pick up some decently priced khakis and button-ups? Now that he's out of toddler sizes I have no idea where to shop lol.
ETA he wore gray corduroys and a button up and didn't look that bad, so I don't know why H was so pissy. But H is a really good dresser and I am...not.

We always have to scramble for events that require nicer clothes. We don't have a whole wardrobe for every life event that may occur in any point in time, lol, it's easier to just buy as you need because some years, it's not necessary. David needed a suit last year and we went to Kohls. It looked good, and was under $100. I'm not sure about little boys sizes there, but they seem to have a good selection.

My husband doesn’t do this very often because he has learned my response is “that’s a great idea, why don’t you be in charge of that?” But he still does it on rare occasions and it makes me rage.
But in fairness to him, I often say “we should do x, and to be clear by we, I mean you.” So he may be secretly raging at me as well. 😀

Since it is Easter season, Target has button ups. Both Walmart and Target carry khakis if you are in an area with school uniforms (and maybe otherwise). Not great quality but good enough. And both have online inventory management so you can check before you go in. Kohls (as mentioned above) is also good.

I should also add I live in a small town with only Walmart lol, so online shopping is what I do unless I'm in "the big city" 45 min away. I did just add a $12 pair of khaki's from Walmart to my grocery order though.

Yes, just allow more time. It’s really not that big of a deal, people lose stuff while traveling and the airports are prepared. You really just have to plan for additional time not all the stuff the PP laid out.

Good to know. Idk why my coworker had a different experience. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances.

This would make me so mad, and I might even say something to the birthday person if we were close so they didn't think I wrote it that way 🤣
