My family, along with DH's parents, sister and her family, are going on a cruise together in June, which leaves out of New Orleans. We've decided to spend a few days there first. We've got just about all activities ironed out and are now working on figuring out where we want to eat. My SIL emailed a few suggestions this afternoon, and I know they want to try "authentic" Cajun/Creole cooking, but the place she suggested is on the pricy side, and I'm not even sure if it's family-friendly. Plus, I can't eat most spicy food.
Does anyone have any suggestions for good restaurants? It needs to be a place with GF options, vegetarian options, non-spicy options and kid-friendly. Yes, I know, big ask.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

I was in NOLA 2 weeks ago. My favorite meal was the bbq shrimp at Mr. B’s. They have all kinds of food. We also really enjoyed Palace Cafe. Neither is fancy, but they may be more expensive than what you’re looking for.
For lunch one day, I went to Cochon Butcher, which was very good. Napoleon House is also good and less expensive than some other options. I also agree with the recommendation for Ruby Slipper. Mother’s is very popular and casual.
katfco, What activities are you planning? I will be in NO a week from Saturday!
mbcdefg, My H is refusing to eat oysters while we are there because where we are from (MD) we have always been told to only eat oysters during months containing the letter "R". I Googled and told him basically that times have changed but he still won't do it!
We have reservations at GW Fins. $$$ but supposedly worth it mofongo

I prefer the grilled oyster's at Acme over Drago personally.
I’m not a huge oyster eater, I like them hard fried in Poboy lol, so I really don’t even have an opinion! Domenica is amazing!!
ETA: There are also several Pizza Domenica’s in the city, it is slightly more of a casual menu, even though Dominica is casual. Good stuff all around!
it really is my favorite restaurant ever. I go every time I am in NOLA and recommend it to everyone. The roasted cauliflower with whipped feta alone is *chef's kiss*

The pizza domenica’s have garlic knots with the same dip and it’s heavenly.

jamie.1022, we're doing a swamp tour, Oak Alley Plantation and city park. Some of us are doing the WW2 museum, others a night cemetery tour, and others a kayak tour. I thought Music Box Village looked cool, but I'm not sure I can get anyone else in the group to go. We'll probably do the aquarium, too. There's so much to do and we only have 2.5 days, plus there are 10 of us to schedule around!

Ok, Bayou St John is the only place I’ve seen people with kayaks here, it should be fun:) It’s close to city park, not sure there’s a whole lot of exciting things to see from the bayou, but if people just want to kayak they should be fine. It will be hot as balls.
