What are you using for self tanning this spring/summer?
I used to be loyal to St. Tropez but have found it’s not as natural-looking as it used to be and looks more fake for some reason. Never used to before.
Well this is upsetting because I planned to go to Sephora and pick up a bottle of St Tropez tomorrow! The one I have is probably 3 years old and I'm assuming I shouldn't use it anymore.
Bondi Sands Aero gives a great natural tan. The ultra dark is more like an end-of-summer tan or a week at the beach tan, so if that’s too much or if you’re new to applying yourself then the dark or liquid gold are also good. The liquid gold doesn’t have a color guide so it’s good if you have to go out but harder to properly apply. I have olive skin and Bondi Sands is great. Definitely use a velvet mitt to apply. It also doesn’t smell much (edit: it smells like coconut but not self tanner). It doesn’t smell like tanner until the next morning if you’ve slept in it, and even then it’s super subtle. The liquid gold aero takes longer to dry to the touch so be ready to remain undressed for like half an hour. The others dry much more quickly.

I know - It used to be what I relied on for my summer glow! Wondering if mine is just old??

Any good recommendations?
Are you using the kind you have to apply with the mitt, or the daily color builder? I only ask because I 10,000% agree on the kind you have to apply with the mitt. I swear they changed the formula! But I do think the daily color builder (I forget the actual name, but it’s in the white tube with a black cap) still looks really good. I use the medium-dark and am still really happy with it.
if you’re already using that one and that’s the one you don’t like then I don’t have a recommendation, lol.
I've been using Fake Bake recently but typically I use Loving Tan. I like both. Before I used Loving Tan I used St. Tropez. I like Loving Tan better than St Tropez but Loving Tan and Fake Bake seem pretty similar to me. Fake Bake's wear is less obvious than Loving Tan. I've also used Tan Luxe gradual tanner. I didn't think that was really worth the money. I am buying a bottle today and was planning to try Bondi Sands since it has good reviews online. My skin tone is fair/light.
I really love St Tropez so am sticking with that (and I always apply with a mitt), but I wanted to add that they did come out with a faster acting formula that gets a shade darker every hour, and you wash it off when you're reached the level of tan desired. I do feel like this one is not as natural as the original.. Otherwise, I've been using the original for many years and never noticed it changing? I'm also very fair and don't go too dark so IDK. I think whatever you use, exfoliate, lotion, and apply with a mitt.
There is a St. Tropez mist that I really like. You need the mitt and it’s very natural looking and buildable. It doesn’t come out colored, so it doesn’t rub off on sheets/clothes.
I am fairly light with rosy tones and the St. Tropez is the most natural for me. I also tried the drops from Isle of Paradise and they came out pretty orange on me.
I use the St. Tropez bronzing mousse where the color builds over three hours. You rinse it off within that three hours depending on how deep a tan you want. I don’t find it fake looking at all. It’s super easy to apply with the mitt too. I think you just have to find the one that works for your skin tone.
Ok, so I'm open to using self tanner, but my issue is always where do you stop? Do you just do your legs and then they're a different color than your arms? Do you have your husbands or someone getting it on your back? Are my shoulders just not flexible enough? lol

I really only do my legs. My arms pretty much have color all year long, but my legs need some help.
If I do throw some on my arms, I usually just make sure to super blend it around the shoulders/neck/chest area. This is why I like using the lotion since it's pretty hard to mess up.

Yeah, I prefer to use this on my legs, and I just leave it on overnight but I have to be very careful around my ankles and feet because it's much less forgiving compared to the original IME. I use the smaller mitt for the face to touch up around those parts, along with my hands. I use the original St Tropez for my upper body. I agree that you just have to find what works for you!

I do my whole body. I have an applicator that is supposed to be for back application. It works ok but not the best. I make my husband do my back if he is at home. The only thing I don't do is my face. I don't like the way it looks and my face products would probably wear it off quickly anyway. I just use a little bronzer to even things out on my face. I find the application process quick and easy. It's the drying that seems to take more time.

I use the St. Tropez Self Tan Classic. White bottle with black cap and use the mitt.

I got tanologist face and body drops. I add it to my regular lotion- usually 5-10 drops on legs, and 3-5 on face. I only noticed a little bit of orange around my ankles once, so it assume it was user error mostly.
Banana Boat Summer Color is my go to, its super cheap and effective. One tip I learned from a YouTuber is to use a makeup brush for application to the tops of hands and feet.

Yes! This has been a game changer tip. It works so well!

Ahhh, gotcha. I use the gradual, which is also white with a black cap. I do think the gradual looks natural. I mix it with my regular lotion and apply post-shower because I find that it makes my skin dry otherwise. I’d maybe try the gradual option. After two applications I can see a huge difference in color.
