The pool thread has me so envious. I really would love a pool, not maintaining it, but well just having one. Only issues here are I don't want to pay for one, I'd expect H to maintain it, and he has no desire for a pool. Lol, I'll just have to stay envious.
I desperately need a new phone but I don't want to pay for one. I guess there is a theme here. I want a good camera but pay less than $700 + for a phone. Argh.
newnamesameperson , I love my Google Pixel 6 and when I bought it directly from Google, it was $600. It has a fabulous camera and works well in general. I've had it for 5 months now I think and have no complaints or regrets. IIRC you can even do 0% financing through them if you don't want to pay for the whole thing up front.
I’m also jealous of the pool thread! We were fortunate enough to have an in ground pool growing up and I want one now as an adult so badly! I WFH so I would be able to enjoy it randomly for swims in the middle of the work day in the summer. It would get a ton of use while it was open for the season. We have the space for it, but my concern is that we wouldn’t have enough space for a dog in the yard if we also had a pool. I think it would take a lot of convincing to get FI on board with it, especially since we’re shelling out major cash on a deck right now too.
Today is Day 2 of the dream job. I have virtual orientation all week (it’s been great so far) and yesterday afternoon I had to do my virtual laptop setup. What a freaking disaster that was, lol. I slept so well last night - It was exhausting!
It took 20 minutes for Starbucks to make my mobile order today, so that's how today is going so far. Granted, I was picking it up in a really busy downtown area so maybe I should have expected that. Anyway, it is tasty lol. I am in the office that is close to things downtown today, so I am also going to pick up lunch somewhere and maybe eat it by the harbor since it's gorgeous out today. Makes up a little bit for the fact that I had to come in. It's just a normal workday so there is no task reason for me to be here, but we do try to have 2 days a month when the whole team is on site at once and today is one of the days.
I finished my presentation for class last night about 10 minutes before class began, and I turned in my paper after class. So other than a final exam, I am done! I can't believe our semester goes so late. It seems like all of the other colleges in the country are having graduations but I still have to study for another week. I'm over it.
I didn't watch This is Us yesterday and I'm nervous for spoilers. I already saw one but it was non-specific enough that it didn't give anything away. I am going to have to watch it tonight.

I love our community pool. It's super close, perfect mixture of shade and sun, and it's never busy. The busiest it's been was on Mother's Day and even then we got chairs and a table with no problem.
I have so many video meetings and webinars this week, it's crazy. I'm still trying to get caught up from last week and I don't even think I'll have time Friday to finish things. Usually Fridays are quiet but not this week. It's also in the mid 90s this week and I'd much rather be spending time at the pool, ha.

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
I got G a keychain- her going away present so she can keep our house key, because she’ll always have a home with us. She leaves one week from today. I can’t believe it. 😭
I heard from L, our student for next year, and she should be here in early August. She’s coming earlier so she can try out for a fall sport. So that’s exciting!

I'm a couple of episodes behind and I follow some of the cast on social media so I'm doing my best to quick scroll past their posts. I don't typically mind spoilers but I'm trying to avoid them on the last few episodes of the series!
I’m sitting on the boardwalk and people really share their business out in the open when they are on the phone!
I have overheard one social security number (and birthdate!), a passionate push for anchovies in the (catered?) Caesar salad for a party this weekend, calls about medication, someone named Carrie is totally sleeping with Jake and a dramatic retelling of an accident resulting in a possibly broken ankle.

Look into a Google Pixel! I have a Pixel 3A and love it. I take photos on my phone for my job (real estate/appraisals) and the photos are great. I shattered the screen of my phone and opted to just get another Pixel 3A instead of upgrading. It around $100 for a refurbished one off Amazon. You could also get one of the newer ones for more, but still under $700.

Windows are open today and shortly I'm moving to the deck to work! It's so quiet along our street and we back up to woods, it's so peaceful. I found some cool ceramic pots and filled them last night with flowers. On Pinterest I came across a pin describing how to build your pot - thrillers, fillers and spillers. Start with something tall and striking (the thriller), some dense flowers and greens (the filler), and then some dainty and cascading greens (the spillers). I don't have a green thumb AT ALL, and I'm so happy with how they turned out!
My aunt (well really it’s DHs) is so sweet! She organized a D&D game with her adult children so DS1 (8) can play his first campaign. Poor kid is obsessed with it but I haven’t been able to find an age appropriate group for him to play with.
Filler & Botox appointment today & I’m hoping the swelling isn’t too bad. Definitely past due so I’m excited.
Ugh, DD2 has caught Covid for the second time this year, and once again she's passed it on to me.
We've been wearing masks since the numbers went back up here, but who knows if a 9-year-old is ever being really careful about that? Thank goodness for all my vaccines and boosters, because this time it really knocked me out. I can't imagine how much worse it would have been without them.
Now I'll just recuperate and worry about my mom, who was staying with us just before DD got sick.

L has been hospitalized since yesterday afternoon. I really thought he was on the mend last night, then he spiked a fever and threw up the medicine again early this morning. We don't have any specific diagnosis beyond gastroenteritis, we don't know when he might be better enough to come home, and the hospital is actually full, so we're boarding in one of the ER rooms which is way less comfortable and practical. I'll accept any good thoughts you guys have got.

I have a guy that is supposed to buy my washer and dryer. He's been really flaky though. He said he'd come this morning, but the morning is almost over and I haven't heard from him. Please let him show up! I need them gone.

I was supposed to be in Atlanta and then Salt Lake City this week. I was dreading the trip because adding Salt Lake was going to make both yesterday and today really long days. I realized the only person who actually expected me to be in SLC was me so I cancelled that portion. It made the trip to Atlanta really nice and my meeting there ended up being really productive. Got upgraded on my flight back home yesterday so decided a glass of wine was in order. Then I took a 1 hour nap when I got home 💤
Lots to get done today and thankfully I now have the time to do it!
Crossing all crossables @emileinchile ! I’ve had 2 kiddos in the hospital and it’s so hard to see them that sick . Try to take a break for yourself so you can be there for your LO.
This large corrugated tube and this fox appeared in my backyard between 8am and noon today. Neither belong to me. The only ways into my backyard are by going through my house, by taking a narrow path with stairs and a gate around the side of my house, or through my neighbors' backyard and two flowerbeds. This means that the options for the origin of this tube are:
It fell from the sky
Someone dragged it through my neighbors' backyard and into mine
It is the fox's emotional support tube that it brought along for a nap
(I've emailed my nextdoor and backyard-adjacent neighbors to see if they know anything...in the meantime I just keep looking at it and laughing.)

OMG, I have no clue, but the fox is quite adorable. Maybe he did drag it with him? I don't know, it's so large.
I am about 2/3 of the way through painting my living room and I can't wait for it to be done. I am also annoyed because when we moved in (13 years ago!) there was a very old, not working security system. We removed the security pieces and covered the holes with a blank coverplate (like a lightswitch cover without any holes cut in). My H, who is extremely handy, told me at the time that it would be a huge, difficult hassle to repair a hole that big and that the cover was the best solution. I have spent 13 years believing that and living with these ugly blank covers in almost every room.
Long story short, I decided to attempt a fix before I painted this room. It took me about 15 minutes with a $10 patch kit from home depot and it looks great. I am so annoyed that I have been living with these for over a decade.

Not at all. I think they are cute and look comfortable... which at this point in my life, comfort almost always wins so maybe I'm not the best person to ask!
I apparently pulled something in my left hamstring during my lower body workout on Monday. I didn't feel anything during, but it's been so sore ever since. Like just sitting here it hurts.
