I saw the new Thor yesterday with my babiest brother. We smoked a joint in his truck in the parking lot and sprayed some axe type stuff on us before we went in. I’m 45 and he’s 38. 🤣
LOVED the movie. I lived, laughed and loved SO hard.
One of the neighbors on our street had their 3rd car repo’d in the last year yesterday in dramatic fashion. It was like a scene from a TV show. I wonder what kind of rate they get on these cars or if they’ll be able to get something else now. They keep upgrading to buy higher end cars each time - I just don’t get it.
I am wildly overwhelmed and think maybe I need to go on an anti anxiety or anti depressant medication. My therapist basically ditched me and told me I was fine but I am not at all fine. I am getting my mom into a memory care center, my mom/stepdad have covid, we have had two friend pass away this past week, work is so overwhelming and I have been fantasizing about quitting or going on medical leave. I feel like I a can't get above water. I think I am going to call my PCP and see what drugs I can get cause this is not a sustainable situation.
preppy, can you afford to take a couple of weeks off unpaid through FMLA? And I’d find a new therapist since your current one isn’t a good fit anymore.

I think my interview went well yesterday. I reached out to the recruiter and she said we should have some positive feedback by the end of the week. I'm not sure exactly what that means.
I assume I have to give two weeks notice to my current company even though I've only been here 6 weeks, but I'm day dreaming about them not wanting that much notice and I get a week off between jobs. When I moved down here, I took 1 day off. Before that I took 2 days off in Feb when I visited family. I want a week to explore my new area, go to museums, nap, go to the pool, etc.

I could do this but work is so insane I would really be setting back my co-workers. I have a huge event in 3 weeks and really need to get through to that event. I def need a new therapist.
My dog ate almost an entire bag of Nubz treats overnight. He's usually so good that I didn't think he'd steal the bag even though it was within reach. He's thrown up 4 times and still doesn't seem to feel so good.
I interviewed for PT job that would have been perfect for me right now. It seemed like the interview went well, like really well. He said he wanted to make a decision over the weekend but he was going OOT. He told me "not to worry" if I didn't hear from him until Monday. I still haven't heard from him. I'm really bummed.

FI got a haircut at a random place today, and we had me translating from Spanish to English, then a different barber translating into Turkish for the guy actually doing his hair. That may explain why it's way shorter than he wanted, but he looks great. It somehow makes him look older in a way that makes me think about growing old together, and I'm digging it.

I kind of feel like they have misrepresented the job to you and have treated you shitty since they started and you should give less or no notice. Do you think taking less than 2 weeks would be likely to burn you in the future?
One of the funniest moments of my life was when a shitty restaurant owner/boss left me a deranged message about how it wasn't fair that I quit catering without notice to take a job in my professional field. Well, Debbie, it wasn't fair that you did crazy gymnastics with my schedule to avoid paying overtime when I saved your ass time and time again.

You won't be using them as a reference anyway, so you don't need to do 2 weeks. I think you should do whatever you want! I hope you get good news.
@preppy, big hugs! They is a lot to deal with even on medication. I love my meds and highly recommend getting on something if you need it.
preppy, I'm sorry, that is a LOT to deal with. I hope you can get a break soon. Also hope your mom/stepdad are doing ok. Get them to ask for Paxlovid if they haven't already.
followyourarrow, one of my previous jobs, I had a coworker leave during the probation period (90 days) for another job that came through that she wanted more. The company had her leave after 2 days. She was so new, they didn't really need her to stay. I'd give 1 weeks notice and peace out! Especially since you won't be using them as a reference anyway.
I'm so tired. Every day. I need more sleep but DD2 is the worst at going to bed and I also need some downtime at the end of the night to veg. Downtime always wins and then every morning I say I need to go to bed earlier... <sigh>
I think I feel a little better today. Still kind of congested, but I don't feel as sick all over, if that makes sense. H felt a little better yesterday, he's been about a day ahead of me the whole time so I was hopeful. Let's hope it continues! I am a bit worried about my sense of smell, I lit my favorite candle in my office this morning and usually it's pretty powerful, but I'm not really getting anything lol
EDIT: False alarm! I could smell H's coffee in the canister and when I walked back into my office I could smell the candle. Just a bit diminished, but that's normal with sinus congestion anyway. H feels a little worse today, but he also got up at his usual 5:30am when he had been sleeping until 8am or later so it might just be that he didn't let himself get all the rest he needed.

My stepdad did the paxlovid which helped cause he was sicker but my mom can't cause it interacts with her meds we use to control some of her dementia symptoms. THankfully she was less ill, but she has been out of her day program for two weeks (makes sense they want to keep everyone safe) and its really hard for them. Really showed us how urgent it is that we get her in a residential memory care cause if she can't go to her day program and/or if my stepdad is ill we are really screwed. It's been a nightmare and she doesn't manage well without her structure of the day program.
Freak storm came through yesterday causing us to lose power for about 3 1/2 hours but worse than that we now have two branches coming through our attic and one made it through the attic and through our bedroom ceiling. DH took off today to take care of phone calls and such. I'm working to try to save my leave but my house is a mess and I just feel like I should be helping to tidy up the house with people having to walk through the house now.
I am annoyed yet again (shocker). DD1 has a sore throat. It's so bad she can't swallow and is having to spit out her saliva. Her throat is covered in white spots. We tested her for Covid (-) last night and I took her in for a strep test today. That was negative too. In the past she's always tested - on the rapid strep and + on the culture. So now we wait. I understand why they can't just dole out antibiotics but at the same time I wish there was something I could do. I'm also slightly annoyed they didn't run a Covid test at the Dr. bc SHE swabbed herself last night and well, she's a 14 yo drama queen so I'm sure it was a questionable swab at best.

Does she still have her tonsils? This was me for YEARS-constant sore throats and strep until they finally took them out when I was 13. I (knock on wood!) haven’t really had any issues since then. I wish they’d done it when I was younger. This also happened to a friend but she didn’t get her tonsils out until her 30s-but ever since she’s been so happy. Not to say you should request your kid to have surgery based off an Internet anecdote but just throwing it out there!

She does! I think both my kids should look into this

This was me when I had Covid over New Years. I had to get a steroid injection at the ER per my doctor. I couldn’t swallow my spit or eat/drink. It was like my throat was swollen also. I hope she feels better soon.

I have something very similar right now with a raging sore throat so bad I couldn't eat for days. I had covid 2 months ago but tested at home anyway (negative 2x), went to the doctor and was tested again for covid and strep (both negative) and then they took some bloodwork. They ruled it a bacteria infection with antibitocs after the bloodwork, maybe that's an option?
Yesterday I was called in for an interview and had it this morning. As I was getting ready, he texted and said I didn't need to dress up, that he was in shorts and T-shirt. I got there and it was just a conversation between the 2 of us. He told me at the end he was likely going to call and offer it to me, but I think he wanted to give me time to think. It might be a challenging position, as they're just starting to talk about equity, but that's something I have a lot of expertise in, so there's an opportunity for leadership. It's a 7th-grade math and science position. More of a drive from my house, but likely more money and definitely less stress from the district (I'm pretty sure my old district is leading up to a major strike).
I just couldn't believe, after all the stress about what to wear, the job I end up getting is the one where I'm told not to worry about it.
