What kind of family things are you doing if you have teens this summer? My boys are 13 and 15 (16 in Sept).
- We are thinking drive in soon
- We also have gift cards to launch and they both want to go during our staycation.
- And I was thinking the beach one late afternoon /evening for the boardwalk and stuff. We can't really do the beach during the day. My oldest really doesn't care for being in the sun all day and he has already gotten a bad sunburn this summer so he is extra :::Meh::: on it. But I was thinking we could go get some fried dough, and play some games.

I'm not sure what a GC to launch is.
where are you at? the beach? are you looking for vacation ideas? or general summer fun?
16 yr old DS plays tennis, goes to the pool with friends, family things out for ice cream, rent paddleboards/kayaks at a lake a few miles away, goes to the movies, bowling, putt putt, indoor arcades, local concerts.
DH and I work FT - so DS is on his own for the most part during day.... in reality - he plays xbox
They went to WDW with their mom for 5 days (we are in CA). We just back from a few days in San Diego and Mexico.
Other than that, they are hanging with friends, they had a few bday parties, and we’ve been to the movies and swimming. It’s really hot here, so not a lot of outside activity.
They also spend a fair amount of time in their rooms, on their phones or Netflix.
We recently did river tubing for an afternoon and he loved it. Last summer we did a (very mild) whitewater rafting trip that was also fun.
We are pretty outdoorsy so we like to fish and hike. He has a mountain bike so has tried some local bike trails with my H.
This week he is doing a local teen adventure camp and they are doing: disc golf, geocaching, fishing, planetarium trip, kayaking, whale watching trip.
His friends have invited him to Top Golf and a local go-karting place.
I have a few friends who are doing "ice cream tours" with their kids this summer where they are trying a different local ice cream shop each week. My kids would probably be into that, but I'm lactose intolerant and not nice enough to organize something I can't participate in LOL.
My kid is just 12 but we have gone to two amusement parks. We also do the $2 movies once a week. She goes to the pool hadn’t hangs out with friends. Goes to the library.
She did overnight camp for a week and we will go on vacation for a week.
The kids went to my moms for 5 days. They did mini golf, the beach and hiking.
Then we did a family trip and did the beach again and rented the motorized bikes and scooters for the river walk.
I’m getting tired of my oldest being in the house, so he is doing camp next week, then ultimate frisbee half day camp the week after.
A week at my IL’s then sleep away camp for a week.
Mine are more tweens than teens.
We’ve done bike riding around the neighborhood, and the soccer park, and lots of trips to the library. It’s our first summer that is less structured and it’s been interesting….
We did a womens professional soccer game. I signed DS up for a tween sports night and pizza.
Sorry Launch a Trampoline place and they each have $60each from years ago before Covid...lol
I'm in CT and looking for random weekend day or weeknight things. Just to occasionally break up the monotony of things. A bunch of RI and CT beaches are about 45-60 mins away which is great.
Yes a drive in movie. They air 2 movies for a car load of $27 so thought it would be fun.
My youngest goes to teen rec during the day and they have built in field trips but DS1 is home. He hits the gym with friends and football starts in August but its just more of the same like when they are in school so I was hoping to add some short activities.
We did a Staycation a few years ago and did White Water Rafting, River Tubing, the Zoo, the Beach, Dorney Park, and something else that I can't remember.
We did a whitewater rafting trip and DD had a blast. That was our big event for the summer. DD is 11 so a little younger but she isn't doing any camps.
Kayaking/paddle boarding, Get Air (trampoline place), rec swim with friends, and lots of gymnastics.
She has chores, her summer workbook from school, Duolingo, and all her books. She fills in her days without a lot of TV/tablet time. I don't count her audiobooks as screen time as she normally does art stuff while she listens.
I subscribe to local “things to do” feeds to find stuff. Today I just learned about an outdoor play happening soon.
Does you local paper have a “find out what’s going on” search? Or is there FB pages with that info, maybe even geared to tourists planning a trip in your area?
Generally, my kids are all about food so going out for dessert or dinner midweek would perk them up. We enjoy hiking (and look on alltrails for new places to explore) and visiting museums

I now have one teen(13), one 10yo and a 5yo. Summer fun just gets harder and more expensive as they get older 🙄
The teen has typical teen ennui. Things we do that he finds acceptable… .bowling, movies, snorkeling, playing basketball, golfing and the local golf place which is like Top Golf, fishing, riding his skateboard, he joined a gym which does free 8th grade memberships so that’s available but not close so he can’t use it all the time, he did a few weeks of a free tennis clinic. And yeah that’s about it. He hasn’t formed a really strong friend group which I think would be so great for him. Hopefully next year :/

Mine are 12 and 15. We started summer with a vacation.
Movies (in theater or streamed at home) and going to out to eat are the main activities we all do together.
We try to go to the beach, but DD only likes to go if a friend comes, and DS needs to be bribed.
DD likes cooking/baking and organizing the house, so she and I take a lot of trips to Target lol. DS and H have their own hobbies together (tabletop games).
DS, H and I run/walk in the evenings; sometimes DD comes. Also, the kids and I play Pokemon GO.

My teen is SUPER into escape rooms. She and her friends go and have a BLAST. This could easily be something each kid could bring 2 other friends to, and they could kill an hour or so in the afternoon.
