Lord help me. We’re 4 hours in to a 10 hour road trip. My littlest child started with a cough about an hour ago. We will be meeting family and my fil is staying with us. I have covid tests in the suitcase and I think we should stop now, but My H said he wants to keep going and at least we’ll have nice scenery to quarantine if we have to. Ugh. Can we please not have covid?
We're going to my city's Pride Fest today and they're having a puppy parade this morning, which I'm excited about. I think we're going to do a baseball game tonight since it rained last night. It's a cloudy day but at least no rain.
I couldn’t get any grocery curbside pickup windows this weekend, so I actually went to the store this morning. Now I remember why I don’t do that…
I decided to try making my own peanut butter. Did it this morning. It was ridiculously easy. So now I guess I’m one of those people who makes their own peanut butter.
Hopefully going to the running store for new shoes today. I’m having a PF flare up so the timing isn’t ideal, but my old shoes made the PF worse, so I definitely need new shoes….
We are going to a rugby tournament in DC later today. Of course the forecast is calling for thunderstorms the entire time it is happening. I am not really looking forward to being wet, especially for something that I don't care about all that much. I mean it sounds like a fun thing to do, but I know nothing about rugby or the teams so it's not like I'm a devoted fan. I hope that it clears up, otherwise I'm tempted to just not go at all. I am also dreading the prices of concessions - I am suddenly feeling the pinch of inflated prices for everything, I guess. Anyway, I'm sure it will be fun once we get there.
Tomorrow I am ushering the play "Mean Girls" and I'm excited about that. I think it will be a fun show.
At some point this weekend I need to figure out who I'm voting for, too. Our primary election is Tuesday!
My dog stresses me out so much. I love her to death but she’s a total lemon in terms of health issues (she’s on long term steroids for one issue which obviously doesn’t help). She just finished antibiotics for a UTI and now we think she has kennel cough (yes she is vaccinated, she’s had it before even though she is vaccinated as well). We thought she was fine and would be ok getting over it on her own but today she’s not eating and acting lethargic. Also we have DS1’s visiting day next weekend and she obviously can’t board with our dog sitter as planned if she has kennel cough (there are other dogs there). So now it’s going to be a stressful scramble to find someone without other dogs who can watch her. I’ll be so sad if I have to miss visiting day - DS1 is at camp for 7 weeks and it’s such a long time to not see him! 😥

My dog just got over kennel cough. Our daycare place said the strain going around right now is super virulent and lots of dogs that are vaccinated are getting it. Hope she feels better soon!
We were on vacation this past week, part of the time at a lake house with my ILs (DH's parents and his sister and her husband/two toddlers), part in another area where DH was working. Kids and I were planning to come home this morning, but by Thurs afternoon we were just DONE. So we came home yesterday afternoon and I don't know if there's a word for the feeling of being home and settling in after a trip, but there should be. We are all just so happy to not be constantly in each other's space.
Related, niece and nephew are very cute and charming little kids, but man I always forget how intense kids are at 2 and 3.
All that said, the lake was amazing. We all loved having kayaks/paddle boards/swimming right there to use whenever. MIL/FIL are thinking of buying something like what we rented since it was relatively local to all of the grandkids, but were concerned about upkeep from out of state. We told them we'd be happy to head down a weekend a month to do routine maintenance and check on things. Because LAKE.

I am so annoyed about the way my grocery store does substitutions on pickup orders. Like, okay you don’t have the massive peanut butter I ordered, but could you send me something? Any kind? And they often replace regular items I order with the sugar free versions. I know there’s no pleasing everybody, but that one makes no sense at all!
I got my new glasses yesterday. They’re progressives and the adjusting isn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. I just haven’t yet got the hang of the middle distance sweet spot. Driving and reading are good.
I’ll regret it later, but I got some school glue to make slime with David. H and Luce are going to the punk rock flea market and it’s so hot out I don’t want to go out with him and the baby. Pray for minimal spillage 🥸
Google apparently picked the moment we had a fluorescent orange dumpster, a "blue" roof of underlayment, metal panels all over the yard and driveway, and roofers up and down and all around- to update their street view. It's been 11 years. LOL
I’m feeling a ton better this morning! I’m going to venture out to run a few errands with a mask on, the grocery store and Costco. DH is taking the boys to a car show. Since my Covid tests have all been negative I think DS1 is going to stay the night with a friend.

DD had her follow up for her broken wrist yesterday. They told us it was likely she'd get her cast off and she'd just have to wear a brace for a few more weeks. Nope, another full cast (and this place doesn't do waterproof ones and dh refused to wait to get her an appointment at the place here that does do waterproof ones) for 5 MORE WEEKS. There goes the rest of our summer. She gets it off the Friday before school starts. She's been up and down...like she feels fine and has gotten a lot better at doing things herself like getting dressed, and when the neighbors are around to play with she is fine, they are finding stuff to do that she can do too, great! But then whenever no one is around she is bored and feeling down and whining about all the things she's going to miss out on over the next few weeks (like swim team, camps, specific things she can't do like jump on the trampoline or playing wiffle ball at the pool, etc.). I also can't decide if we should chance going to an amusement park with her like we had planned in early August. It's not her favorite thing to do, so she probably wouldn't mind skipping it, but it is by far the thing ds looks forward to doing most all summer, so there's no way we're getting out of taking him and dh took off a weekday specifically to go as a family. But I guess one of us could go with ds and one of us could take dd to a movie and for a pedicure/manicure (lol obv. I'd rather do that!)
It’s nearly 10:30 and I’m still in bed. DH brought me coffee, so I’m just laying here in the dark, quiet room.
Lots of standard chores to get done today, then soccer for me and DS2 tomorrow. I should really get going and start knocking some things out.
I have work travel next week, then my dad is in town, then we go to Indiana to see H’s family, then we’re home for a week, then we go to Breck for a week, and then the kids start school. I’m tired just thinking about all of it. Lol

It's my parents last day here. We've been here 10 days and have had good weather, It's just hot and humid, but most of what we do involves water. DH will be here in a few hours and my parents leave for the next leg of their trip in the AM.
Swimming, fishing, reading, lounging, eating and drinking are on the agenda today. I need to do a quick store run to restock and get some things DH likes.
It’s going to be 108 today. That’s entirely too hot. I got up at 7 and did the little bit of cleaning I needed to get done. I have a couple loads of laundry left, then I’m done with chores.
We have enough food to last the weekend. I’m hoping to not have to leave the house at all for the next 2 days. We had a trip to Seattle/Vancouver then had bf’s bday, 4th of July, then a trip to San Diego and Mexico. I need a weekend of nothing.
DH & DS went to a town festival in a little town about 30 minutes away. DH does some business with one of the sponsors and DH said it sounded like his town’s festival that was always a big highlight of his summer as a kid. They just sent me a pic of DS with our (R) congressman. They’re very lucky I’m not there because I surely would not have been able to keep it cordial.
sadie, is that a swimming lesson just for dogs? I've never heard of that lol.
Yes, lol. It's at a dog training place that also does dog dock diving training/trials. I'm embarrassed to admit a 1/2 hour dog swim lesson is more $$ than a 1/2 hour kid swim lesson.

My H’s birthday celebration is tomorrow so I’m working up the drive to make his cake and ice cream. It’ll come…hopefully before I have to take my troop to Newsies tonight, lol.
My H has created a weekend tradition of taking us out to the farmer’s market, buying the kids cinnamon rolls and brownies and me all the flower stems/bouquets I want. I got a bunch of cockscomb flowers this week. Aren’t they beautiful?

I just deep cleaned my kitchen. It was so beautiful. It’s sparkled, the cabinets white like they should be, floors not sticky. Not even 5 mins of my ass in the chair I hear glass break. Then DD squeal out she’s okay. She dropped a full bowl of cereal. Now there are fruity pebbles everywhere. 😭😭
She’s trying to clean it up. I suspect I will need to go back over it. She used the mop with water to clean it up. I don’t think she attempted to wipe it up then mop.
You know what’s a scam? Paying for parking at the hospital.
Our student hospital would charge for parking. It was the biggest bullshit ever. People aren’t there just for the hell of it. I remember being a kid and my mom begging for them to let us out she didn’t have the money for parking. My dad was in the trauma unit there.

Talk about a way to ensure that people would stay home then get the help they need and deserve.
Well, it's pouring rain so we decided to skip the rugby tournament. We went to Baltimore instead and we are having a couple of beers. We got soaked just walking into a brewery, so I think we made a good decision not to sit outside for hours in this.
I was supposed to meet an old high school classmate for coffee this morning. She forgot. I got a book out of my car and enjoyed reading while sipping my vanilla latte in the shade with a slight breeze for an hour. It was lovely. I think I need to repeat that in the near future.

I really want to do this with my dog but there isn’t anywhere close and she gets carsick
