I was woken up at 2 am by some small cracking noises that turned out to be a struggling half inch bug behind a dresser. I put it out of its misery but struggled to get back to sleep due to DH's light snoring. Then in the early morning, I had a dream about some other people having sex which was a (rated PG-13) visual I did not need.
Any morning when I do not sleep well, I vow to try again the next night!!
I went to bed earlier than normal last night and I'm still somehow exhausted this morning.
I got my hair done last night, which entails a full head of highlights and a hair cut. So now I actually look blond again plus I had her thin out my hair so now it feels so much lighter.
My cleaner was here yesterday morning and messaged me in the evening ... positive for COVID. I'm double-boosted, so I'm not overly worried, but I usually do a lot for my 90-year-old mother on the weekends, so I'm keeping an eye on how I feel and will decide if I need to tap my brother to step in for her protection.
And I'm continuing to battle f'ing pantry moths in my garage, where I store my birdseed. I thought I had it under control and their numbers are surging again. More traps ordered and arriving today, and I'll probably empty the containers of the seed I have, give them a good cleaning, then stop storing seed/feeding the birds for a while. Thank GOD they haven't made it into the house.
babsbunny, those little noises are the WORST when you're trying to fall asleep! If I'm already asleep I don't hear stuff like that but if I'm trying to fall asleep every little noise is magnified for me! H uses a cpap and the little whooshing sound is like nails on a chalkboard.
We were supposed to be able to post for our front desk admin position but then got told no last week which sucks but budgets being what they are I kind of expected it. So I'm stuck picking up the phone from my desk pretty often and to make it extra annoying this week about 75% of the calls are for other departments and people just push any button to talk to someone - which I get but it makes it annoying for the office that is #1 on the list!
There was an attempted charge from Instacart on my Amex yesterday for over $24K. WTH. They tried 3 times to charge it. Amex flagged it as fraud. Instacart emailed me later saying they froze my account and cancelled the order as well. It makes me want to go into any account I have and remove the saved credit cards. I know it's all fraud and I won't have to pay anything, but it's still unsettling.
Wallflower, I'm sorry. We had pantry moths one summer after storing dog food there. Never again. Definitely find someplace else for the birdseed. We had to take everything out, wipe it down, discard as needed, paint and then put the sticky traps they have on Amazon in there.

That's crazy! And brazen. I can't imagine any credit card would approve a charge like that so I wonder wtf they were thinking even trying. I can't even imagine what you could have delivered the same day that would cost that much!

My friend bought a house last night and my niece last month and I am having some feelings of jealousy. It is really dumb because we can technically afford a new house, but I just have zero desire to have a higher mortgage payment (and would need to put something like 700K down to keep the mortgage the same, which isn't happening). But man sometimes I would really like a house that is big enough for a book shelf or kids rooms that can hold more than a twin bed.

Where did you move the dog food to? I'm worried that the moths will just follow the food and I'd rather the risk of them in the garage than my house.
The flooring people are here to do our main level flooring! The appointment setter made it sound like they would also do the basement today, but the actual installers said that would be another day. Which is fine, two floors seemed like a lot for one day. We already have a misunderstanding about the bathroom in the basement though... I thought they were going to take up the tile but they think they aren't. I don't really care that much whether it is laid over the tile or not, but the baseboards in there are also tile so they will at least need to replace those. Whatever is cheaper, that bathroom is a spare anyway so it doesn't have to be amazing. I do hate the current tile in there though, it looks cheap and is obviously DIY so I want it replaced since we are doing the whole rest of that level anyway.
We didn't think of the fact that our internet is plugged in in the living room, so we have no internet. The installers said they would do that section first so hopefully we can plug it back in soon. My H and I are trying to work but I can't access a single thing without Internet, so I guess I am just going to start my workday late today.
ETA: Internet is back! They even plugged it back in for us, which was super sweet of them. I can't wait to see how the floors look! We're holed up upstairs in the bedrooms while they work.

The garage because my pantry is in our kitchen. ETA: I'm sorry that i just noticed yours are in the garage; I read too quickly and thought they were in your pantry. I...don't know what other options there would be. A container inside a container maybe?

I'm waiting for Instacart to get back to me to unlock my account. I'm interested to see if I'll be able to view the order. I'm guessing they ordered a lot of high end items... steak, seafood? Alcohol? I also thought it was strange that they just went right for the $24K. Usually you see a smaller charge just to see if it will work. And my credit limit on that card is $18K, so yeah, it would have never been approved.
H and I got into an argument last night, so that’s a great way to start a day of travel.
DS1 spiked a fever last night. Negative Covid test. He is still asleep, but feels normal now. This happens sometimes with him where he spikes a fever and then nothing, so I’m kind of torn about what to do. Our flight leaves at 2.
Our new neighbor just brought over a bottle of homemade wine! Can't wait to try it later tonight. She is the sweetest, we've already bonded over gardening and I'm so excited I've made a new friend
I need to get my office unpacked here. I've been working at the kitchen table which is fine but I definitely could use more space and privacy.
Speaking of, I think my H is bringing the kids to my in-laws to swim later so woohoo to some home alone time!

I posted last week that I auditioned for a local community theater. I found out last night that I got a callback for a role in Little Women! If you know the show/ story, it's Aunt March. I love the idea of playing a mean old lady and the song I need to learn is great.
I'm really excited. I don't know how many other people got called back for it, but I think I'll be fine even if I don't get cast. It's just nice to know that I can.

Today is my son’s 17th birthday! He is thinking about going into the reserves after graduation next year, so he might be at boot camp for his birthday next year. That is a thought I keep trying to push down so we can enjoy today. My husband helped decorate at 6am and my son left for work at 745 with the McDonald’s breakfast I ran out to get for him. Our real celebration will be a day out on Friday followed by a fancy steak house.
It is also my sister’s birthday, so I need to swing by her house to drop off her gift.
Another day over 100. But maybe some thunderstorms later. Fingers crossed.
Network issues at work again. I actually can't get online at the office, we're sharing the MIFI right now.
A CW cam in, but just left because her son tested positive for Covid. Her husband was in the hospital, so she's not sure if they may have picked it up there, that's about the only hospital she's been because he had kidney stone surgery. Another CW's boyfriend is positive and he goes basically nowhere beside the office 2x a week. So many psotivies and all of the directors are going to texas next week for a conference. LOL. Talk about a super spreader.

Some may remember that DH moved to South Carolina for a temporary job. The kids and I were supposed to also be there, but moved home (IL) due to Covid. We rented a house for the past year while he was there. Our lease ended at the end of June and DH moved into an apartment since he doesn't need a big house with us not there. The property management company required 2 months rent for security deposit, which was over $4k. The lease said we had to return the house in the same or better condition, which we did. We had it professionally cleaned and took very good care of it. We rented through a company that intends for people to buy the house, rather than keep renting. When we got it, the house was purchased by the property management company. The previous owners did not take care of it and there was bad paint, scuffed up floors, etc. We made a move-in checklist that indicated all these things.
Well today they sent an email with move-out charges in the amount of $1000. There's no details on what that amount is for. I HATE renting and this proves why. Now we need to fight with this company about every penny to try and get our security deposit back. DH was super rarely even at the house. He worked all the time and used the kitchen and the bedroom. It's beyond frustrating.
dancingirl21 - I don't know if this is state specific, but usually by law landlords have to provide an itemized list of anything they're charging you for.

Can you imagine being the shopper that accepted that order? I hope they intended to leave a big tip, lol.
And yeah, I would have expected $24 before jumping right to 24k!

Yeah I don’t know anything about SC. I sent a pretty pointed email telling them they need to send me an itemized invoice. Ugh. We were the perfect tenants. DH has said he will get his company attorneys involved if it comes to that.

We leave for a long weekend trip tomorrow morning, and I have to work a full day today (and I have a lot to get done!). I guess I'll be packing all evening. The weather where we're going will be in the low-to-mid 60s two of the days, and low-to-mid 50s at night, so I'll need to pack some warm clothes for sure!

Wait this was like 24K at a grocery store? Could it have been Costco or Walmart where they can also buy TVs? lol (not even sure if you can get those on instant cart lol). Guess a lot of alcohol

I just got into my Instacart account. It was at Target. They tried to order 64 stroller/carseat travel systems at like $330 each. LOL.
