I get highlights about every 6 months but between visits, my hair tends to look more yellow/brassy. I love how it looks when I leave the salon and from what I can tell, using Purple Shampoo at home will help me keep up that look between appointments. BUT there are so many options, I'm not sure where to start. What brand do you recommend?
I use the Sun Bum purple shampoo and conditioner like once a week, and I use their purple tone enhancer leave-in spray on other days when I use regular shampoo but still dry and style my hair.
Careful with using purple shampoo too much. My hairdresser has told me that someone used it basically every time they shampoo and it gave their hair a purple tint. And it wasn't quite a cute purple tint.
Pureology has a good one. I've also started to use loreal and like it too.

Thanks. I did actually ready a warning about that. I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week as it is and so would probably only use the purple shampoo maybe 3-4 times a month.
Do with this what you will but my latest stylist recommended that I put my purple shampoo on dry, cover it with a shower cap and leave it on 20 minutes. I do see a difference when I do that and I think it was a bit of a social media trend for a while.
ETA: I had a very bad experience with brassy tones when I attempted to do highlights at home and used an entire bottle of blue and purple shampoo each and did not turn my hair purple. I would have welcomed it.

This is what I use as recommended by my stylist for my blonde highlights. She recommends using it once a week and leaving it on for five minutes. She says to use regular shampoo first and shampoo twice, then do the purple shampoo.
I like the Amika purple shampoo and conditioner. I use it once a week and my hair isn't purple. I've also used the Moroccan Oil shampoo and it was good. I think the Amika one leaves my hair shinier, along with removing the brassiness.
I've used Amika - which was nice. Kevin Murphy - expensive. Kristin Ess - eh. John Frieda. I can't say I have noticed a huge difference in brassiness with any brand? But I will say that they all can be very drying.
Also - I started using them a lot (a few times a week) and then went to get my hair colored - lightened and then added some pink - and the pink didn't take. My stylist thought it might be because my hair was so dry. So I guess - something to keep in mind.
I get cool blonde babylights and use the Amika Bust Your Brass line. I wash my hair once or twice a week and use the Amika every other to every 3rd wash (so once or twice a month). My stylist told me that Amika isn't as harsh on your hair as most purple shampoo brands.
I use a purple conditioner instead of purple shampoo as the shampoo dried out my hair. I use Clairol Shimmering Lights (or something like that). I use it every two weeks, allow it to sit in my hair while I wash my body and shave my legs and it's fabulous.
