I had to wake up at 3:45 am for a business trip today. It is pouring rain and storming. If this thing gets delayed when I get to the airport after I dragged myself out of bed at 3:45, I might genuinely cry. (Making it worse is that I will also miss my Epcot reservation with coworkers and be out $150.) Fingers crossed. On the bright side, if all goes well, I’ll be enjoying Epcot Food and Wine festival with some coworkers tonight!
It’s feels like forever since I’ve posted, but I think it’s only been a week or so. Lol.
Things with L are great! She’s on the field hockey team and super excited about it. She’s wonderful with dd.
I semi-started a home organizing business and have already had a few customers.
Dd is doing cheer, which she loves in general, but doesn’t ever want to practice, so that’s fun. We finally started her with a therapist for her separation anxiety. She’s only been once, but we both really like the therapist, and I’m hopeful she can help.
Dss didn’t make the high school golf team. He was crushed, and I feel so bad for him. He had a horrible round the last day of tryouts.
And as if that’s not enough, we decided to foster two kittens for the humane society. In addition to our two dogs and two cats. Lol.
I got ridiculously stupid (and actually incorrect re: the structure of the preso) feedback on a presentation I did on Thursday (it was anonymous, but b/c of the nature of the feedback, we--my co-presenter and I--know who wrote it). She's a sanctimonious boob, and in the grand scheme it's not like she trashed us to our boss, but damn it, I'm stewing about it.
Bernadine, all that plus a full time job! I admire your stamina.
We went to see the Orioles play last night and it was such a fun game! They are doing a little better than usual this season, so there were more people in the stadium than I've ever seen before (in 4 years, but we've been to probably 10+ games in that time). Also, the Orioles scored 15 runs vs the Red Sox scoring 10, so it was a pretty action packed game for most of it. Not what I expect at a baseball game, lol, but it was great.
I have a friend who recently moved to Boston, and she wants me and my H and another couple we're friends with to come up there over Labor day. I really want to go, but flights aren't as cheap as I'd hope and I honestly would rather have more time to spend there since I've never been to Boston. I am out of vacation for the year (I have some remaining but it's already planned for other things) so I really can't take any additional time now, so it would be a Friday night to Monday night trip. I am thinking maybe we'll go in the spring? I'm nervous about booking evening flights on a holiday weekend because they will likely be delayed or cancelled.

I’m the same way with teaching evaluations. They eat at me like crazy!
The boys had a really fantastic first week of school. I’m so happy that both of them settled in so quickly. I think the return to routine is so good for them.
DS2’s soccer season ended last weekend and we haven’t signed him up for fall yet. I have two soccer games myself on Sunday morning, but otherwise we’re just relaxing at home.
Planning to be lazy this morning, make a grocery list, read, and drink coffee before I go run errands.

Whenever you interact with this person in the future can you drop quotes or expressions from the survey so she know you know? Petty, but sometimes it feels good!
We were finally able to change 9’s earrings today. She’s so excited to have lightning bolts in her ears, lol. I’m stuck home all weekend for a COVID exposure so I’m finally going to clean out my closet.

We have a fig tree in our front yard, and they all became super ripe while we were at the shore last week. Fig jam for dayssss. It’s really good.
Our house looks like a tornado went through. I’m gonna straighten up today while H wrangles the kids. The kitchen especially needs a Cinderella scrub for the floors. After my toast with fig jam that is haha.

What a great game to be at in person! It was wild to watch from home, so I know it must have been crazy there. I'm so glad they have been better this year. It's been so long since they have been entertaining.

Preach. I was a classroom teacher for 23 years (specialist now) and an evaluator could tell me 846285 things that were awesome, but that 1 suggestion for improvement...gah!

I'm glad, too. I am sure having a stadium full of cheering fans was fun for the team, too! I hope they keep up this momentum.
We’re prepping for my kids 6th birthday party at a picnic shelter/playground. I’m nervous bc it’s a random assortment of people that don’t all know each other. Anyone have suggestions on a good radio station to play at a kids birthday party that isn’t kidz bop-like? Just something that will have clean versions of popular songs. (We don’t really hide DS from that at home but I don’t want to offend anyone at the party lol)
I started watching Never Have I Ever on Netflix last night. It has a similar feel to Jane the Virgin. I dig it.
Our town has a big BBQ/blues fest this weekend. It's supposed to storm all day, which is a bummer.
I like that show a lot, I just finished Season 3. Also just finished Uncoupled which is also really cute.
We are on our ride up to the White Mountains for 5 nights. I’m SO ready to relax and just have a fun vacation with the other family we vacation with every summer. We also had an uncommonly easy time packing up and getting out on time this morning, I think because we had the idea for H to take the dog to boarding while I packed up, rather than trying to squeeze his crazy ass into the truck with all our shit and drop him when we left. He’s also a PITA in the house when you’re busy trying to run around and get stuff done and god forbid not paying attention to him!

Ugh. I got the ‘vid. I wasn’t even feeling terrible, just a small cold but had plans this weekend and tested. Damn it. I’m too busy for this shit! X is positive too but no symptoms.
It’s going around school something fierce. Most of x’s friends are out sick.

This is the first weekend since June 9 that we aren’t traveling and it feels so nice to be home! I slept in, walked the dog, got doughnuts and plan to chill all the rest of the day until my son’s football game tonight.
DH is taking DS11 for a week with my IL's house on Lake Michigan. I am staying home with the dogs because of grad school/work/wanting to be near my parents in case there is an issue with my dad and also a deep desire to NOT spend a week with my ILs, but now that they are leaving tomorrow I'm feeling sulky and left out. I'm also realizing I've actually never spent a single night alone at home since I got married 15 years ago. When DH has traveled, DS has been with me and the only time we left DS, I was with DH. I mean, my parents are five minutes away but...I'm going to be lonely.

But... you get to be alone! You can watch whatever you want on tv, order your favorite takeout, not have to listen to anyone talk at you. None of this appeals?

The last part, yes. And it would be nice to bring home food that doesn't immediately disappear into one of their mouths.

And you can clean up and it’ll stay cleaned up! The remote will be wherever you left it! You can watch whatever and not worry about it.
We did a day trip to PA and got to see some fiber arts and talk with niche craft people. I love any sort of subculture and specific interest enthusiasts. I don’t care what it is about. One woman told us about Quaker pirates and training oxen. Not related but strange and interesting. We learned so many odd things and I bought a small loom lol The weather was good and we had banh so winning all around.

It’s about a 6 1/2 hr drive. I haven’t done it but I know a lot of people do. Might be easier than dealing with flying especially if you wait to spring.
