I know we are out of the ordinary but my son has been seen by the same pediatrician for 17 years. She came to the hospital when he was born and has been his primary physician since then. He will have his last well appointment on Tuesday. He turns 18 soon after. What could I do to thank her and the staff for all they’ve done? Was planning on a card but was wondering if flowers are too much (Dh thinks they are). She has navigated us through a blocked tear duct, heart murmur, asthma and was really just great at listening.

Your son can take his kids to her someday. That’s what I did. She calls my kids her grand-patients, lol. SHOUT OUT TO DR. JANET, THE FUCKING GOAT.
I think the flowers are a beautiful idea. I am not a pediatrician but I do work with kids and families, and I save every single hand-written note I get. They mean so much.

My staff loves chocolate and really appreciates anything that patients give us. The most un-traditional thing they've received is when a patient called to find out how many people were working in the office that day and then sent over an assortment of tiki bowls. A nice note or even an email if you are handwriting averse always makes everyone's day.

Did you confirm she only sees patients until they turn 18? I just bring that up because some pediatricians will see patients until 22.
But to answer your question, something edible for the whole team would be nice. And although I like flowers, a small plant that’s easy to care for would also be nice since it’d last for longer.
And yes hand written notes are always great as well.
Whelp, I thought his appointment was tomorrow. Its today. So no time to really do anything. I think I'll wait until I get his senior pictures done and then send one with a thank you card attached.
