DD wants to wear more earrings to school this year with her boring uniform, but she has trouble with anything other than actual gold. I'm not investing in a whole bunch of 14K options! Thinking of trying some of the plastic-type earrings. Any recs? Blomdahl, Earrings by Emma, etc?
I haven’t tried any of those, but I’ve struggled with irritation from earrings for the last several years and gave up wearing them for awhile. I’ve had my ears pierced since I was a baby and in my 30s my ears were just like, nope! I saw something random online recently about dipping the earring posts in Vaseline before putting them in and it’s totally worked for me!
The Vaseline trick seems to work for me too (actually Aquaphor, because that’s what I had). I had never heard of plastic earrings — the Earrings by Emma are cute and inexpensive!
My ears are irritated easily and I’m apparently allergic to nickel. I can wear the hypoallergenic type. I agree with Vaseline/ aquaphor for irritation.
I also have sensitive ears and bought some from Rowan. My ears have been really happy so far. They don't have any dangly/pendant earrings but the ones they have are great!
Every female in my mother’s side has the nickel allergy. UnpossibleCuts.com has fun earrings and the sterling silver posts don’t bother me or my daughter.

Just a plug that the “Emma” from Earrings by Emma is my DD’s close friend! She’s super sweet and her Mom runs the business in her spare time and “Emma” gets to help choose the designs. DD is getting her ears pierced this fall and is so excited that she will be able to wear all the earrings they have given us over the years. She has lots of clip on styles but wants to wear the real ones too. Sometimes I wear them. Hehehe.
My girls have sensitive ears and they basically exclusively wear earrings from this shop. They are adorable and they can leave them in for a long time with no irritation.
