Yippee!! I did one in August and it was a blast! If I could have changed anything, I would have worn longer pants or something on my knees because I trashed my knees crawling through the mud pits.
Oh and bring towels to wipe down with. We only had one a piece and the "rinse station" was freezing cold water, so we just used the towels to clean up. It would have been nice to have a few of them.

Thanks for the info!! We have to decide about costumes too... I can't believe that I am doing this on a second date! LOL, it's with the short dude. And neither of us even run. But it's a great cause and one of my best friends works for the charity and I told her I would do it. I'm excited! (and SCARED!)
We went as superheros and wore capes that actually held up really well! My BFF isn't a runner, so we walked the whole thing and laughed a ton! We're already signed up to do it again next August!

I was thinking angel and devil... I have angel wings

Are the obstacles to climb over/under? Might be hard with wings on

I did the dirty Dash. I didn't tape my shoes, had no problem with them. I only ran the first quarter mile-ish, after that we walked/power walked haha. We had jugs of water and beach towels and a change of clothes. I am dumb and forgot to bring flip flops for after!

I agree about covering your knees and maybe elbows too. I wouldn't bother with the taping either, I did for Tough Mudder and ended up ripping it off because it made getting my footing harder when scaling walls. Definitely bring towels and wet wips for after.

Have fun!! I did the Warrior Dash last year.
I duct taped my shoes, it helped out a lot. Also wear clothes you don't mind getting coated in mud. I had to throw away my socks and sports bra and underwear afterwards. They just couldn't be saved. Bring a whole other outfit to change into, a towel to sit on in the car if you can't change right away.
There were several areas where I couldn't run because it was so slick, but it was fun.

Dude, the amount of mud in my hair was INSANE. I wasn't diving in or anything but there was one pit where you had to climb over these pipes that were going across the pit, and I'd fall into the water climbing off, or I tried going under a couple of pipes that were higher up.

You are going to have so much fun! I just did the Dirty Girl earlier this month!
We didn't use the duct tape either and didn't have any problems. I would suggest knee high socks to protect your shins since you'll be crawling through some of the obstacles.
Towels (one to clean up with and one to sit on).
Extra pair of clothes (including underwear and shoes).

I did 2 braids and a bandana too. Getting the mud out of the hair after is ridonkulous. Be prepared for a few rounds of shampoo. My braids were like 2 hard sticks of mud.

DH and I just did the Gladiator Rock and Run this weekend. I had on a long pair of running pants and a workout top, and had my hair in a ponytail. There were 2 different mud pits we had to belly-crawl through, and that resulted in mud up to my shoulders, including my hair. Like a PP, I recommend wearing long pants because you will be crawling at some point. I didn't tape my shoes, and they still came home. A lot of these races have shoe donation charities which will clean your shoes then donate them, so if you want to do that make sure to bring another pair of shoes. I just brought flip-flops. Also, while they did have shower stations, the water pressure was too low to really rinse away much mud. Just bring a complete change of clothes to change in to and a trash bag for your muddy stuff. Also, I had to shampoo my hair (it's pretty long) 3 times to get all the crap out. The leaves and grass were just as big a PITA as the mud. Something I wore may be stained, but I just look at it like a badge of honor! I'm not going to toss my favorite pair of workout pants just because they look a little dirty.
