Gross. I think it was also them reporting that Kate had stayed back with her children for their first day of school, and that Meghan was not accompanying Harry, which of course is purposely using subtle differences in the language to make unflattering comparisons 🙄 I'm sure Meghan needed to get home to her kids too.
I'm curious if some countries have been waiting for her passing before deciding to leave the commonwealth.
Time for everyone to hoard their money with her picture on it. I'll go through my stash and move it to my souvenir stash.
I doubt it. There are benefits to being in the Commonwealth (chief among them the Commonwealth Games which is like the Olympics except the US, Russia and China aren't invited), and most of the countries in the Commonwealth don't have the British monarch as Head of State anyway. I think maybe only 12 or so countries do? It will be interesting to see what Australia does though. They seem one of the keenest to become a republic.
But our money's gonna look so ugly soon, it's true!
I'm more shocked by this turn of events than I thought I'd be. Less so because she's 96, because I mean she's 96, but I really was starting to think Charles was never going to be king.
My dad is really into history so while I wouldn’t call him a royal watcher by any stretch he knows more than most (Americans) about the line of succession and royal history. I very distinctly remember him saying probably 25 years ago that Charles would never be King because she would out live him. I should call him, I’m actually interested in hearing his feelings on this.
