I know everyone else probably figured this out a couple years ago, but I just started WFH within the last six months. I do have a bright lamp right next to me, sit next to a window, and have a bright lamp in the corner (plus the overhead ceiling light). On days that are sunny/have bright natural lighting, I'm fine. But on cloudy or gloomy days, I don't have great lighting on my face on Teams calls and sometimes it looks like I'm in shadow. I also am going to be a guest speaker on a Zoom networking thing for my industry coming up and it'll happen after dark, so I'd like to get this figured out before then.
I did buy a clip-on mini ring light that clips onto the top of my laptop. Maybe it's just too small because I did not notice much of a difference with it whatsoever. What does everyone else use to get good lighting on your face? Do I just need a bigger ring light? I don't really have a place on the floor by me I can put it - my desk is L-shaped but the corner of it is rounded, so I sit on the angle and have a stand up desk attachment. I do have a little room behind my monitors on the stand up desk that I could potentially put something there on top of the desk.
I got a ring light that clips above my monitor. I will say that for whatever reason, despite using the exact same setup, my image quality when I have to use a client's Team's link is exponentially worse than when I use Zoom. I would download the free version and tinker with the settings after you don't have any natural light in the room. There are also a lot of adjustments you can make within zoom that help me as far as the retouching and such.
