I finished: Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys, 4* And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman, 3* Things My Son Needs to Know About the World by Fredrik Backman, 2* The new library had three of the books from my favorite authors that our previous library did not have. I enjoyed Out of the Easy more than I expected. I started The Ink Black Heart by Robert Galbraith.
Mother Daughter Me by Katie Hafner (one of the better memoirs I’ve read)
To Boldly Grow: Finding Joy, Adventure, and Dinner in Your Own Backyard by Tamar Haspel (uneven)
All That's Left Unsaid by Tracey Lien (ok)
Cooking for Mr. Latte: A Food Lover's Courtship, with Recipes by Amanda Hesser (this must be a reread, I have her husband’s memoir out of the library now where he talks about their marriage so I got it out too)
The Age of Homespun: Objects and Stories in the Creation of an American Myth by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich (500 pages about cloth production)
Annie on my Mind by Nancy Garden (I was surprised I hadn’t read it before! It was funny to see Cobble Hill described as gritty)
QOTW:
Hot chocolate is always my fave especially if it is the fancy kind with real chocolate and you have to stir a lot (made by someone else)
I read A Perilous Undertaking (Veronica Speedwell #2) by Deanna Raybourn while traveling last weekend. It was an enjoyable way to pass a flight but that series feels like it is missing something.
Then I started Vengeful (Villains #2) by VE Schwab but have had a hard time getting into it. I think I am going to put this aside for now, especially since I just found out that there's a third book coming.
QOTW: warm apple cider, particularly with some booze thrown in

I finished Hatchet Island by Paul Doiron, which was an enjoyable mystery. I mostly like this series for the Maine woods and water settings. Up next will be either Last Call at the Nightingale or The Sunlight Pilgrims.
QOTW: I drink coffee year round but I like hot tea when the weather cools off. My current favorite is a vanilla almond flavor.

Finished The Dollmaker and How to be Eaten. I really enjoyed how the latter wrapped up. Especially because The Dollmaker felt very circular and unfulfilling in its ending.
Started The Night Gardener, which is deliciously creepy, and The Stardust Thief, which I'm enjoying, but I would recommend reading it over the audio.
QOTW: Since it’s officially fall in the northern hemisphere, what hot drinks do you enjoy? Cider! It's the perfect fall beverage.
The Woman who Smashed Codes by Jason Fagone. It is the story of Elizebeth Smith Friedman, a pioneer in codebreaking. I really enjoyed reading about her work.
I am trying to read The Anthropocene Reviewed again. It's nice but really more suited for my 10-year-old. John Green's writing is crisp, I'll give him that.
I've got three books I'm trying to knock out in the next week before my class starts: Haruki Murakami's First Person Singular Burn by Herman Pontzer Mr. G by Alan Lightman
QOTW: H makes chai tea every week for us to drink during the Great British Baking Show, so that's my favorite. I also LOVE Ghirardelli hot chocolate.
