I have a yeast infection that will not go away. I have done oral treatment x 5 and topical x2. I started boric acid pills. I am waiting the culture to come back to identify what type of yeast it is but I would love all your tips of what worked for you. I am desperate. It’s been a month.

Is it absolutely yeast? I had a bacterial vaginosis (BV) infection that I thought was yeast, but it did not respond to at home treatment. As soon as I got the right medication from my OB, it cleared up right away.

Boric acid is always my go-to and cured me of chronic yeast infections. At one point my XH was treated too, just to be sure we weren’t passing it back and forth

When did you start the boric acid? I had an infection that would not go away (confirmed by two cultures), I did a sugar free low carb diet after the meds didn’t work , that didn’t help either, but boric acid did the trick. It took a few days of it (can’t remember how many days). I am sorry, it’s so miserable and the doc I saw was so condescending and rude I get mad thinking about it now.
I get my blood sugars tested monthly as part of a standing order and glucose is normal.
I started boric acid 5 days ago but skipped a day.
The doctor saw yeast under the microscope and didn’t see signs of BV but the culture they did will test for that.
I haven’t had sex in a month because of how uncomfortable it is so I don’t think we are passing it back and forth.
We are pretty sure it’s yeast because I tried a steroid creme that made it worse.
I just want to cry. It’s ruining my life. I have other chronic health issues and this by far is bothering me more than it should. But having my vagina irritated is sending me over the edge.
I’m a proponent of boric acid but I had what I thought was yeast (cultured and it initially responded to monistat), but turned out to be ultimately an allergic reaction. I’m allergic to Tide Sensitive. (Yes—of all things). The various yeast creams were coating things and being a barrier to the tide residue in my clothes. What ended up working was no underwear and skirts whenever possible, wiping with water wipes, using very gentle shampoo/conditioner/soap on my body (when I would rinse, I would get incidental amounts nearby), and no more tide ever. It took a few weeks after stopping the tide to calm everything down because everything that could irritate me did. This happened two times (because I am an idiot who didn’t realize it was tide the first time because I rarely used it for my clothes—just other family members).
I am wishing you relief because I don’t ever want to feel that way again. I had to get someone to cover my classes so I could go to the gyn—that was mortifying (I said I had an allergic reaction but no details).

This is interesting. I just changed to ALL free and clear from Tide free and clear and now questioning if this could be it!! It’s all external issues. Thanks for this! I’m gonna try anything!

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, it’s the absolute worst. I had them chronically when I was dating my H and the boric acid helped get rid of them but not keep them away. I’m allergic to Diflucan and the OTC creams usually just burned my skin. It did seem like when I was overdoing sugar, like around Halloween, it was worse. Finally when I stopped taking BC pills they went away for good, so I guess that was the culprit.

I’m another who had an allergic reaction that mimicked the yeast/bv pendulum swing. It was my toilet paper. I switched to unbleached and use a barrier cream daily (just a little Vaseline). I also make sure I double rinse my clothes, don’t use fabric softener or any scented products, and had to stop using disposable menstrual products due to the bleach.

Whelp my culture just came back negative for yeast and BV so now I’m thinking it must be an allergic reaction!
I’m sorry! It’s so awkward and uncomfortable and ridiculous. My assumed yeast infection turned out to be psoriasis. After several months of insanity I had a biopsy done and it ruled out some scarier stuff but it took me going to a dermatologist and them requesting more detailed reports from my biopsy (I never knew this was a thing- that the gyn wouldn’t have gotten that all in their report) to see it was absolutely psoriasis. I have had a few patches show up other leaves but really? This is where it’s going to present? It was starting to cause some serious depression for me before I found meds that worked. Good luck. The dermatologist was the change for me to figure it out.

What a roller coaster.
A long time ago, I went through a period of time where I alternated between getting BV and then a yeast infection after I took the antibiotics for BV. It was awful. I finally cleared things up with boric acid. Then I kept thinking I had one or the other but my tests came back negative. My doctor ended up prescribing me Premarin and that resolved the issue. He just thought all of the creams and boric acid may have really done a number down there and I think we was right. I hope you feel better!
I'm also have allergic skin reactions in that area. Basically I can't use soap there, so I am careful in the shower to not let anything run down and just wash with water.
(Incidentally, water is all that area needs to keep clean as confirmed by gynecologists and dermatologists, so it's fine.)
Can anyone link the boric acid? I get yeast infections every month around my period so I definitely think it's hormone related. It's really starting to wear on me that I spend half of the month with some kind of annoyance down there.

I’m curious how much boric acid is too much
I took antibiotics in August and if I get a yeast infection it tends to drag on and on and in. So I keep going back to the boric acid because it feels less rough on my body than diflucan. The last yeast infection I had I ended up taking about 40!!! Diflucan pills because I had done lots and then took a month if it, and then weekly for another month
I do unbleached tp and that has helped Regular baking soda baths keep things at bay No more beer (sooo sad- I miss beer) and I have to limit mushrooms.
I thought I’d finally kicked this one that I’ve had since early August but it popped back up this week after my period ended. Ugh.

I use the ph-d brand. That’s just what my grocery store has… there are other brands on Amazon too
