I’ve always been a coffee drinker. No sugar, splash of half n half for years. I grind my own beans and have used a Cuisinart coffee maker forever.
Recently started getting interested in expanding my horizons - possibly getting an espresso maker. And in the interest of saving money and not getting anything too complicated I am looking at the Breville bambino express - anyone have one of these?
Also what does everyone do with espresso (again, trying to expand my horizons)…..just drink it in a mug with some frothed milk? Do you make any specialty coffee drinks with it?
quesyrah sorry to sound like an idiot - But just to confirm- an espresso is essentially a full cup of espresso and an americano would be like a half a cup of espresso with hot water mixed in? I’m guessing it’s ‘americano’ because it’s similar to a ‘regular’ cup of coffee?

Espresso shot is about an ounce of liquid. And Americano is typically 2-3 shots, and then rest water. Lattes, cappuccino, flat whit, macchiato, etc are all just different amounts of milk + anywhere from 1-4 shots of espresso.
If you're a plain coffee person I would get more into different varieties of coffee and their flavor profiles then espresso drinks. Espresso is a lot and kind of finicky.
I work in corporate for a household name coffee company and my coworker has a Breville Bambino. She was just showing it off to our team on a call the other day and we were exclaiming at how cute it is. She says it works phenomenally and she finds it does a great job at foaming milk. I’ve owned a bigger Breville espresso machine in the past and as a former barista, I felt it was really substantial quality machine that pulled a good shot. I’m pretty interested in getting the Bambino, myself, since I would want something with a smaller countertop footprint.
I love espresso. I like americanos with a bit of cream. I love the act of frothing milk, so I drink cappucino often. I like lattes occasionally. I haven't tried any iced espresso drinks yet, but they are on my list.
I bought an espresso machine for my 40th back in January and really enjoy the process of making espresso almost as much as the espresso itself.
I recommend to all my fancy coffee drinkers this site: www.drinktrade.com/ It will make recommendations for beans tailored to your brew/taste preferences. Beans are freshly roasted/sent to you within like 5 days of ordering. I've tried lots of roasters I wouldn't have gotten the chance to otherwise.

I do 2 shots of espresso and then fill the mug with hot water. I use a regular sized coffee mug.
We don't have this machine, but have had Philips brand machines for about a decade now. DH drinks straight espresso, but I drink a proper cappuccino every morning. It's about 5-6oz. One shot of espresso with 4-5oz. milk, steamed and foamed. I drink it fairly dry with mostly foam.
