I am happy to report that I FINALLY have a resolution to this BS.
a little back story. This BS started back in March of 2021. My life really went to hell after that and I had to put the "fight" on hold. (I had a blood infection, my brother passed away, my elderly parents got covid quite bad and my mother was actually hospitalized from it.....The list goes on and on.) So several months passed with no action on my part because I just did not have the mental energy to fight.
So my advisor left the university in May of this year. I reached out to my new advisor this summer just to introduce myself and give her a heads up on my saga. She was appauled by what I was telling her. She took this issue as her mission and I owe a lot of gratitiude to her.
Initially the school give me an F for this course, that obvisouly appeared on my transcript. They also pulled the course tuition from my financial aid account.
Now the course, along with the F, has been removed from my transcript. My financial aid account has also been replenished 100%. This ridiculous "paper based only" class has been removed from the online ciriculum and is only offered on campus.
YES. Thank you for the update. I am STILL aghast at the bullshit they put you through but I’m glad you had some resolution.
It pains me to think of them getting any more of my money but I only have 4 more classes to graduate. If it was more, I would be transferring in a heart beat.
And this is why I will go to bat for my amazing Advisors because they do stuff like this on the regular and are not paid nearly enough and never get enough kudo's! I'm so glad your new Advisor helped resolve this ridiculous situation that you should have never been put in!
This makes me so happy. It's peak higher ed and I LOVE to see this outcome. Kudos to your advisor. I'm willing to bet the outcome was as satisfying for her as you.

I'm so glad to see this update, and your new advisor gets a gold star for doing her f'ing job. I'm still annoyed that your previous advisor left without doing anything effective about this.
So, do you have to retake this entire class again to get credit? Or can you just take the assessment!
They removed this course entirely from the online program and replaced it with another course. I do have to take the new course to meet my credit requirements to graduate but I am ok with that because the new course is interesting material.
Still sucks that I wasted that time studying and doing the homework on this BS course but I will accept that to put this behind me.
and I am going to be in Iowa in 2 weeks for work. While there, I am meeting my new advisor in person for the first time (we have talked via zoom MANY times during this) and will be bringing her a very nice thank-you gift.
She really has been a godsend to me. I needed a win.

Damn! I was hoping for a second miracle! So glad you got a resolution though, you definitely needed a win!!
