I am so tired of holiday food. I am making my family go out for burgers at this amazing local burger joint today.
DD spilled Thinking Putty with giant glitter on the carpet upstairs and hid it so we have to figure out how to remove that today. She'll be doing the work but I'll be supervising. UGH. Kids.
My 12 year old son just gave me a powerpoint presentation on why I should let him buy Call of Duty. He makes some good points. I can't wait to go to work tomorrow. LOL

We are doing leftovers today as it is snowing more and while it's warmer than it has been, it's just in the teens and I don't want to go get take out until tomorrow in all this. Plus, it's a no cooking day for me then for 2 days!
I need 4 more hours of continuing education, so knocking that out today. I'm a SAHM, but maintain my professional licensure in case I choose to use it again. Nothing like waiting till the end of my term to finish it.
Eta Also need to take down Christmas decor in the next day or two. DS1's bday is Thursday and we try to separate his day from the holiday by just having birthday related decorations like balloons and a banner we reuse for everyone.

DS did this in a fleece. I used rubbing alcohol to get it out. Then I got rid of all the putty in the house.

A got a gizmo watch for Christmas. I set up a to do list on it and he’s taking it very seriously. Like he just walked in on H going to the bathroom so he could take a shower because his watch told him to seriously.
Today is the last day at my parents' house - we fly home tomorrow. It will probably be good to get back to normal but it's been a nice visit. My niece and nephew are just delightful, sweet kids and it's been fun spending time with them for the last 4 days. My H is a good sport but I am sure he is ready for a break after 5 days straight with my family, lol.
I have to work tomorrow too so our flight is at 5:30am, so we have to get up at like 2:30am to get to the airport. That sucks. I hope everything is ok with flights tomorrow. I really don't want to get to the airport that early and have things delayed. I wouldn't expect it with an early flight but I know everything has been such a mess for everyone these last few days.
You might think that if you upgrade a specific device through your Verizon account online that transferring the service from the old device to the new device would be simple, but you'd be wrong. Fuck you, Verizon, for sending me numbered instructions that are clearly wrong. It shouldn't be this hard. Now I understand why people just go to the store to have them do all this.
I made the teenager go to Home Depot with me at 8 am to buy a new Christmas tree. I have such a strong memory of sending H to Target to get our current tree when the teen was a baby, and now they're taller than I am and easily lifted the heavy box into the car. Super psyched to have a very nice new tree for next year, especially since it was 50% off.
Like most of you, leftovers are on the menu plan for at least today and possibly tomorrow. We have so much food! My only other plan for the day is to start the book my sister gave me yesterday and maybe watch a movie as a family.

Today is me and my partner’s 8 year anniversary! I love him more and more everyday He def knew what he was getting in to with me because 3 days after we started dating I drove 10 hours to Montreal by myself for a solo winter vacation and he didn’t blink an eye, so I knew he’d get me!
Yesterday we left the airport and immediately started driving for my family, 12-14 hours away. We stopped a few times to attempt to put air in the tires (light is still on) and attempt to refill the washer fluid (might be broken). Almost crashed and missed our turn twice in Akron because they don’t believe in signage during construction. DH missed hitting a deer.
It was a series of misadventures and not the most fun of Christmas Days. We’re still on the road and hoping to get to our big family get together that’s at 3 this afternoon. Because of course we have nothing planned Tuesday and Wednesday, but TODAY is the day we have stuff to be to.
My brother announced he moved to West Virginia two weeks ago at Christmas so that was a surprise! He doesn’t know anyone there but thought it would be cheap to live there and do his current job remotely. Bold move but he doesn’t have kids, is single and doesn’t seem to have a lot of local friends anymore so why not.

Pretty sure it was Thinking Putty that I cleaned up with alcohol. Rubbing alcohol might work, but I used cheap vodka.
We learned yesterday that DH's parents have never had a Christmas alone (or just the two of them) and that DH's two younger siblings had never not been with them until this year (the parents got covid). We moved away after college and have missed a few (not that many though).
I'm struggling with being annoyed at the yearly (last minute) pressure to spend this particular day with them while trying to make sure we spend time with them while they are healthy. For the past 6ish years, we also now spend a week with everyone in a beach house rental.
My sister just texted the rest of us that she found in her cupboard, and used, a graham cracker pie crust from 2006. 🤢
…you didn’t eat any of what she made with it, please tell me? I’m imagining that she sent it as in “see I knew it’d be ok!” And cringing
Oh god, no. I’d be so mad. I honestly dont know why she even told us all this (none of the siblings got together this year), except she has long been trying to pass off her frankly gross and dirty lifestyle as quirky and carefree.
My mom and I hit up the after Christmas sales this morning. Target wasn’t crowded at all. The busiest place was Homesense. There were couples with two carts full. My mom and I were in awe.
Now I’m working on laundry. DH has the head cold I had last week.
I don't know WTF Boxing Day is but I know America needs it.
It's literally just another day off, mainly used to recover from Christmas or shop the sales. It's glorious.
We're going over to my parents' house to exchange more gifts, since we stayed home yesterday. Then I'll probably do some boxing Day shopping for anything I wanted that I didn't receive.
I just found out David's Latin teacher passed away yesterday. She was out the week before break for a medical issue and I just learned she died yesterday. How terrible for her family.

I have to confess that even though I am the one who instituted secret Santa with FI's family instead of everyone giving to everyone, the one who didn't buy presents for her toddler because he was going to get plenty from everyone else and is too young to notice and the one who's very into keeping things somewhat minimalist, low cost and low stress...a part of me misses the over the top Christmases of my youth. There were so many things to open! They were all awesome! My mom was the gift QUEEN, and now that I'm older I really don't know how she did it, but it was so much fun as a kid.
I am so appreciative that FI, for whom gifts are not a love language, always gets me a really "me" gift in line with our general spending style, but I also wouldn't *mind* 5 packages to open with some of them containing expensive jewelry, ya know?
I’m planning to do NOTHING productive today. It’s almost 1:30 pm and I’ve been on the couch since I got out of bed at 11:30am. I’m wearing soft, warm clothes and snuggled under a blanket. I’m going to sit my ass here all.day.long and read my book. I might go take a bubble bath…
I have so much to do today but I can't get off the couch! I want to get a peloton ride in, and the house is a mess. I also want to take down Christmas decorations. But the couch is so nice, lol.
We leave Wed for a few days with my ILs, so we're just catching up on laundry and getting creative with meals so we don't need to grocery shop before then. Took the tree down since it was DEAD and the cleaners will come while we're gone, and I got an actual workout in this morning. Might buy new light strings for the tree today, ours were kind of iffy this year.
It was such a nice holiday. We had the morning to ourselves to open presents, and the kids loved everything. My parents came over for the afternoon and an early dinner, then kids were wiped out and went to bed early, so DH and I made cocktails and watched Glass Onion.
I started having cold symptoms last week. I’ve tested every other day and all of my Covid tests have been negative. I also tweaked my back on Saturday while trying to clear snow off our front steps. So by late Saturday I was in a ton of pain and coughing. I pulled it together for present opening with the ILs yesterday, and kept my distance from them, before heading back upstairs to rest for the remainder of the day.
DH is determined to have people over today, as planned. Dude, I’m sick and in pain. I just want to be lazy in my house before I have to go to work tomorrow (“have to” as in other people are already off and I must be there to close). He’s stewing and annoyed with me like I’m purposely sick and avoiding helping. Here’s a thought- cancel the get together!
But the cat has decided that my lap is a great place to hang out and I don't have the heart to kick her off. So I've been sitting here watching the Office for 3 hours instead.
